Defensive Expectations

No way in hell they are playing 300 pounders at OLB. You didn’t mention Butler. He’ll likely start at one of the DE positions.
Woefully inexperienced group. Will have to grow up fast.
Well you completely missed the point. I’m saying why would Pruitt feel comfortable moving people around just to see if he didn’t feel 100 percent comfortable with who he already has at DE

The 1s in all practices the last 2 weeks have been Middleton, Emerson and Solomon. If Solomon doesn’t get to play then yes i think Butler will slide in. Buts he’s not been close to the Parade All American he was in HS

I actually feel better today about the DL and the OL than I did six months ago. 8 wins baby

You missed the point that, guys do cross train because of the similarities in the position especially in certain packages.

I know we may have some youth and limitations to go along with a lack of depth in some areas defensively, but if we play hard and with sound fundamentals, I'll be happy. Just seeing kids bust their humps on every play and be solid tacklers would be great.

Also thanks for this post. Pretty sure a week or so back we heard some of these same things on this board.
Yeah i think that’s from VQ, my friend sent it to me yesterday. I should have circled the D line part haha I’m not worried about them. The experience isn’t there, but our biggest guy last year is our average size this year (Alexis Johnson 6’3, 305-310). That in itself makes me optimistic. Not reason to think Emerson and Middleton can’t be studs

The good thing is that DL is going to rotate. Last year they weren’t able to, which led to them being gased more times then not.

Year 2 of the 3-4 and that’s significant. Role of the general DL in that set is simple cepting the outliers like JJ Watt, Jadaveon Clowney and (back in the day) Bruce Smith among others...occupy blockers and generate a push. Basically like the OL...your big fellas push theirs BACKWARDS. Our coaches were tasked with getting that out of the smaller and weaker who had been getting manhandled in a 4-2-5 set. No small task...pun intended. Always thought Kyle Phillips was made for the 3-4 being too much a tweener for the conventional 4 lineman set. That transformation in physical training and schooling up fundamentals doesn’t happen overnight. Thusly, some of our outmatched Butch holdovers have had the equivalent of two years and we can better assess just how good or not so much they really are as our coaches add to that mix from the last two classes. One poster’s emphatic statement is another’s talking point...go football damn it!

Love these assumptions being made before a game has been played. Secondary should be elite, LB corps is going to be improved, D-line is unproven and that's the only way I'm gonna label that position group. To say they are terrible is pretty silly. Offensive line has better pieces and has gotten bigger up front but relying on freshman to perform at a high level is 50-50.
Talk about assumptions.....the secondary “should be elite”?? Do what?

Should they be really good at Corner with Bryce and Alontae? Yes. But what about safety and nickel?

I think the secondary will be the strength of our defense, but elite is way overstating it imo.

This entire thread is overstating it. So much delusion. After 15 years of sucking, I honestly figured people would learn but guess not

out at Eric Gray winning the heisman. That whole thing is mostly platitudes and vague statements. Ansley is confident? It's kind of his job to be, no? DL is large, um great. Chip on their shoulders blah blah
Hey bub, you know what FWIW means right? Obviously that isn’t gospel; may be right, may not. I’m hoping it is. GTFO out with all that negativity 1 week before 2019 season

"conform to the uneducated hive mind's myopic opinions or leave"
Support your team and maybe don’t dwell on our last decade of **** coaches and **** player development maybe? But if you want to live in the past man, that’s fine. Met a guy just like you last week, talking so much **** about UT, how we suck, but how he’s the biggest fan. You’re a contradiction. Bleeding Orange? Yeah right lol that’s a laugh

I expect us to be aggressive and hit some people square in the mouth. Well, you did ask for my expectations. We will make mistakes but I truly believe we will be much improved over last year. GBO

If anyone didn't go to UT it's you
Lol i served my 6.5 years there proudly, and competed for the university. Just scrolling through your posts from the past year, it’s obvious you’re a troll, and I’ve wasted my time responding to you
