this is just as dumb as DEI.

have a standard across the board. if they can meet it, they are in. if they can't they are out. Black, white, trans, straight, male, female.

it would be one thing if he banned the military paying for the surgeries, and removing the protection while "transitioning", but out right firing the people without some metric based decision is terrible.

Having 1 standard across the board is just part of the answer, they must also increase the standards. It's easy to tout "we have one standard" and that standard is basically breathing.

If one views transgenderism as a legitimate “normal” human situation then yes it’s a dumb position. Not unreasonable to discharge anyone from the military if they have a serious mental illness IF transgender is viewed as a mental illness.

make it part of the standard. I don't care if they are straight, gay, or trans if they aren't mentally capable of handling the job. and if they can handle the mental part of it they can have the job if they want it, trans or not.

one standard. meet this threshold to have/keep/get a job.

one standard is a start. I have no problem if it raises. but having multiple standards, even if they all rise, doesn't make sense to me.

Maybe I'm wrong but I thought the target was getting rid of "programs" that focus on the DEI thing. Just as you say if X person wants to be in the military and passes all the qualification requirements then there you have it. Why would that require any special programs/personnel/costs to make happen?

that should be the focus. but if the tweet is to be believed, that is not the only thing that was said.

I guess I would look at that individually. Under the same criteria as my first post I don't see way there would need to be a "program" to keep regarding trans people. (or black/asian/female/whatever)

To your specific example singling trans out as a disqualifier would be more complicated. It'd be interesting to hear what the "official" reasoning would be.

The military is a great example of having 1 standard, to make sure females could graduate Ranger school (and probably a lot more schools) they didn't set different standards. They just lowered the standards for all.

Donald Trump's order freezing foreign aid has sealed the spigot of U.S. taxpayer dollars flowing to DEI projects abroad, saving U.S. money from being 'lit on fire,' a top Republican says.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast (R-Fla.) has revealed exclusively to DailyMail.com some suspicious federal expenditures that the State Department approved under Joe Biden.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) programs, meant to expand diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) objectives abroad, are now effectively killed under Trump's foreign aid freeze.

One of the big ticket items that no longer will receive U.S. funding is a pro LGBTQ group in Serbia through a group called 'Grupa Izadji,' which in English translates to 'Group Come Out.'

This NGO received $1.5 million from Biden's administration to 'advance diversity equity and inclusion in Serbia's workplaces and business communities, by promoting economic empowerment of and opportunity for LGBTQI+ people in Serbia.'

According to the grant, the Serbian group 'will foster an environment that increases employment potential for LGBTQI+ persons, expands opportunities for LGBTQI+ entrepreneurs, and reduces workplace discrimination.'

Projects like that and others that push DEI, like a $70,000 grant to a group in Ireland to produce a DEI musical in 2022, will now be crushed by Trump and his Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Mast says.

That is all I think anyone with any modicum of sanity wants. Unfortunately the touchy feely left wants to lower the bar for certain segments or 'protected classes'. Sec Hegseth caught crap from the idiot left for his championing of just this fact. Women as a whole are not as strong as men. Period. In NO WAY, should the standard for PT be lowered for warfighters. If they cannot do X number of pushups... out. If they cannot carry 100# a mile in the snow.... out. No questions should ever be asked about that. It is the left that is trying to destroy the military by these shenanigans, and hopefully it is coming to an end. The mental illness that pervades the gender dysphoria group is an entirely different discussion.

The Army lowered some standards for a lot of things for a few years when they struggled making their recruiting numbers. ASVAB scores, tattoos etc. I knew a kid who had been out of rehab for Meth about 2 weeks and joined the Army, guy was through MEPS and shipped out in less than a month.
