Delta Variant

You can make that argument about anything. No more driving. Remove those deaths. Limit fast food, lower heart disease, diabetes, and a bunch of other deaths.

The argument for treating Covid different was that it was new, and there was no vaccine. Now there is a vaccine and peoples reactions havent changed.

And you can still die even with the vaccine. And from an absolute stance some people have died due to the vaccine. Granted it's a small number. So your "life" argument rings pretty hollow.

One of my good friend's teenage nieces is currently intubated and in ICU with the Delta variant.

She was vaccinated. She was masked up. Delta didn't give a ****.

Now that we know what we're dealing with, hiding behind a closed door praying you played the odds to your favor isn't worth it. Take the precautions you and your doctor feel you need and trust the Great Physician for the rest. You can't mitigate every risk out there.

I would submit if you lived a hermit’s life and had no interaction with anybody you’re probably better off than most. That is not a rational approach for most of us however if you don’t grow your own food and don’t touch any mail or any other item introduced into your sterile habitat by anybody else.

No rational person is saying "we will all die if we don't get vaccinated." You're just being over hyperbolic to defend your position. If you cannot admit at this point that getting vaccinated is a very effective way of fighting COVID and it can in fact save lives, then you're simply guarding your own ignorance in the interest of wanting to be "right" on this issue.
Not being vaccinated is also an effective way of fighting Covid. Like 99% effective. If you ignore this you are also guarding your own ignorance.

The vaccine takes care of 30 to 90% of the cases not covered by the 99%.

Sorry to hear that. Terrible news.

Seems highly unusual considering all the "99% of hospitalizations are unvaccinated people" headlines I have seen. And the fact she is a teen.

I wonder what the percentage is of people who are opposed to the flu shot. It seems like it’s the same people. Or at least the people I know personally that are opposed to the Covid vaccine are also opposed to the flu shot.
I dont think it works that way. It seems unvaccinated people's reasoning for the most part is they want to wait until more research is done before they get it. Or they just aren't concerned about the virus. There's plenty of research on the flu vaccine, it's a traditional vaccine.

That being said, I'm fully vaccinated and never take a flu shot. I took a flu shot once in my life and probably got the sickest I've been in my life a few days later. Never again.

I have to wonder why a teenager has had the vaccine and wore masks yet is in the hospital ICU intubated. You must be leaving something out, this doesn't happen to healthy teens.

Yeah. Her family is saying the same thing. Hence the 'Delta doesn't give a ****" comment. Someone has to be the statistical outlier.

Can't hide, have to live the life you've got.

Yep, there is no hiding.

But that is a gut wrenching scenario.

Yup. I sacrificed a year of my life already to the great Covid over reaction. It was getting to my mental health being locked away from others. I will take my chances with a disease over risking my mental health.

I was wrong. She was not masking up, just vaccinated. Healthy, active teen. I don't know why my brain read that into what Carra said.

My apologies for that blunder. Still, a vaccinated teen on a vent is a statistical outlier and the Delta variant is still a bitch.

To your last paragraph, what would you say to someone like my dad who got the Covid vaccine, and that made him the sickest he has been in 30 years. Does he get to play the "never again" card?

NO, it's the dumbas!! that didn't get vaccinated.

That's for being exhibit A to make my point...

I have an issue with this Democrat's view of Republicans. Yes, they did kinda flip toward vaccines in the past week but they didn't flip from a position where it's a hoax. Their position for months has been "it's a individual decision. Respect each American's decision on this."

Now they're just flat out calling on all Americans to get vaccinated. But they're falling short of the Dems who are going to the point of namecalling. Anyone who opts not to get vaccinated is being called everything from selfish to stupid and all kinds of other names in the book. I hope Republicans don't ever stoop to that

No but I have seen people in charge say that we had to get vaccinated or accept death. *and havent seen their hyperbole called out*

As if rejecting death ever did anything outside of Shakespeare.

Who in here said that "you will die if you don't get vaccinated?"

I'm big on vaccinations. I remember when polio was a scourge (and a threat to me personally) If Pfizer announced that they have one that will protect me from the common cold I would take it asap. I would risk the vaccine rather than almost assuredly being miserable with a cold for a week sooner or later.
