Demarco Cobbs DECOMMITS

No I was referring to Bruce Irvin. I think we will do the same thing with some of the guys in this current class to make room. I also do not know that all of them will discuss it so openly.

If we lose a Meline or a D Jones it may have nothing to do with the staff cooling and be maybe more about them not wanting to stay.

We also can lose several of these guys to academics.

I just think we will end up with a stellar class and will let some guys know before it is all over that they will get more playing time somewhere else.

it doesn't mean we will lose them period just for a year while they go to hargrave or something.

he is the number one player in a pretty talented state don't see why we would cool on him just cuz he switched doesn't mean we cooled our staff is the best in the country but not every recruit is gonna sign here even though they should

Lack of punctuation aside, I agree.

Here are my thoughts on Cobbs. You may not agree with them, it's jmo:

- We didn't cool on him
- Ambles is a better WR than Cobbs and it's not real close
- Dunkley is higher on UTs offensive board. I think Chris is Gran's #1 target
- We will get at least 1 more WR who will be on the same level, if not better than Cobbs
- Meline has more upside at WR than Cobbs
- He would have been a Safety here, and he might be one at Texas as well. They even told him they didn't know where they were gonna play him...
- I'm not sure we will get a Safety better than Cobbs. I think he was gonna be mean...
Reading that article now, it appears they were saying that Cobbs lost touch with the TEXAS coaches -- not the Tennessee ones.

It is what it is.

So I'm new to this posting thing but wanted to mention the point that is being made about what UT stands for in the Cobbs discussion.

Texas football started in 1893. Tennessee started in 1891. I don't care what the records say now or then. Tennessee is UT. People can put the K on that if they want but Texas is UTA.

Nice post.
:clapping:

Welcome.
:hi:

So, I'm confused. His comment about not talking to the UT coaches for a month was about the Texas coaches? If he had to call the Texas coaches up, I wonder what the motivation behind that was? Just second-guessing, I suppose....

Texas was his dream school from the beginning...

Right...that was what it sounded like from the discussion here. If he had to call them up anyway, what changed? Did he not have an offer from them when he committed to us...but did get an offer when he called them after they hadn't bothered calling him for a month?

and if football isn't the method you use to determine college initials and instead you might want to use the date the school was founded then for UT that's 1794. For Texas (UTA) its 1883.

Any how do you figure that?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Cobbs has been quoted as saying Texas is where he wanted to end up all along.

Where has anything been quoted that says UT coaches "weren't spending a lot of time"?

Back up your statements, sir.

I couldn't understand what you were asking. Cobbs has been quoted a lot more saying Tennessee was his school of choice for a long time. It's not like Texas just popped on the scene. There are many people saying that the Vol coaches had slowed down the contact.

Where are these people at that are saying this? I haven't seen them...

Texas was his #1 when he first began the recruiting process and he said they've always been his dream school...

That was due to misreading the free preview of the Texas article which said he hadn't had any contact with "UT coaches" for months. In their world, they are UT so that's where that came from. I doubt seriously that is the case.

When did they offer? Did his offer come after he committed to UT? I'm guessing not, if he really hasn't had contact with them in months. Why not just commit there in the first place....especially considering their take it or leave it approach....
