Dems refuse to participate in Debates Sponsored by FNS

How do you figure? Considering this was a reason brought up I'd say it is VERY germaine to the discussion.

Maybe he means that copy/paste material from wikipedia should be ignored without any statement from the poster?

I don't see what Jermaine has to do with any of this...

Do you honestly think networks never are subject to litmus tests? They go through this scrutiny each time.

so why is this time any different? Using Ailes' joke is a piss poor excuse to cancel a debate. If we're going to determine a network's fitness based on it's executives, CNN would have long ago become another Comedy Central. Ted Turner has said some pretty vile things about Catholics and religion in the past. Of course, you should know this since you're near CNN central.

Ailes making the joke is a piss-poor business practice especially when pushing the line "Fair and Balanced". Ted Turner and Roger Ailes are actually on two different levels. It helps to use the correct person to compare the two.

So just because I am in GA I would become a CNN or Ted Turner expert?

I figure that you have more access to local goings on. Not through connections, just the local media and such.

That's right. This comparison makes no sense because TT has made a practice of filling senior positions at CNN with folks completely against his worldview and you should know that from the slant of their "news"

Just as Rupert Murdoch is not the decider for the positions at FNC, Turner is not at CNN. Actually Turner has not been in charge of anything there in years.

And since he turned over the reigns, the station has made a dramatic move toward the center.

I normally don't say anything here; I just enjoy reading the give-and-take. But, this time, I shall.

First of all, some of you believe that Fox News is an ultra right-wing news organization. That is laughable, because they are no more right-wing than CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, and PBS are left-wing. As a matter of fact, I don't believe that Fox is as far right as the before-mentioned news organizations are far left. At least, Fox allows a liberal to co-host a nightly show. You won't see CNN, CBS, or PBS allow a conservative to co-host a nightly show. (Or if any of them do, I sure haven't seen it.)

Also, check the viewer ratings. Fox News has about twice as many viewers for most of their nightly shows as CNN. Even Larry King has fewer viewers than just about every Fox nightly show. And MSNBC barely registers.

It's really hilarious when some people (usually the radical left-leaning mouthpieces) damn Fox as a hard-line right-wing network. I see liberals on Fox regularly. If Fox was so reactionary right-wing, why would they allow a liberal viewpoint to be aired?

I watch Fox, mainly because they allow both sides of issues to be debated. I stopped watching CNN and CBS because they don't.

the fact that anyone really considers alan colmes a liberal is laughable. again, there is a big difference between a left leaning democrat, and a liberal.

And since he turned over the reigns, the station has made a dramatic move toward the center.

Again, there is a network President that typically makes the calls on hosts, reporters, etc. Turner and Murdoch give control to someone else.

And actually the political affiliations of the reporters and hosts are pretty much the same as they've been for years.

Do you have any examples of the entire network being heavily liberal?

Joke aside, which are you ---- left leaning democrat or liberal and what would you consider the difference (seriously asking).

left leaning democrats closer to the center than liberals. maybe more so on some issues than others. i think the word "leaning" in this case is like saying "slightly." i am not a democrat, i am registered independent, very liberal and consider myself a progressive, but i often vote democrat.
