Yes, children with certain disabilities can qualify for SSI benefits, but there is a complex set of criteria that includes family income.@kiddiedoc a patient today told me when she was a child she was receiving SSI due to bipolar disorder. Can you confirm this is a thing?
If so, seems like an easy place cuts can be made. I’m open to Medicaid for children with serious illness (BPD doesn’t make my list), but SSI?
I have friends and patients that work for Denso. Part of the executive path is visiting sites in Japan. One thing I hear consistently is their strict attention to minimizing waste. Tesla is also a big believer in that tenet. It’s literally been one of the primary objectives of Japanese Lean Manufacturing for the last 75 years. They never eliminate all of it, but they never stop moving onto the next most wasteful process.
The Biden HHS Department handed out 145 million dollars worth of grants to exclusively promote, subsidize or study transgenderism.
Examples:
- 3.1 million to study why trans women have an increased risk of asthma
- 5.2 million to study why trans women are at a “disproportionately” high risk for HIV
- 7.7 million to develop an app to promote sexual health among young trans women
- only 733,466 to develop an app like that for transgender men
- 19 million went to promote and research transgenderism among children
- 158,705 dollars went to social media influencers to determine how social media influencers can encourage children to explore gender identity without their parents knowledge.
Read that last on again.
3600 minors underwent trans surgeries between 2016 and 2023.
Demonic.
Pod is pretty interesting. It talks all about how Medicare, SS, and national security account for 60% of spending and are where all the real gains are to be made. They focus the entire time on how Medicare works.
Paraphrasing: "If we're interested in cutting costs, absolutely go after fraud, but let's not pretend that fraud is where the real money is. Prosecute the fraud. It's flashy. It's a win/win. But the real money is in the way that we legally allow these plans to inflate their payments."
IDK that we'll actually get to any of this with DOGE when there is no mention of policy wonks or actual auditors on the staff.
But if you and you company have a balanced budget the as waste is identified it’s is corrected in the next budget. You don’t have to spend much time at all to audit and eliminate nearly all waste if the system is set up to do soOf course some waste is acceptable. That's an impossible standard. Trying for no waste is probably even counterproductive. If my company's priority was to eliminate all waste, we'd never get anything done.
the issue is DOGE has thrown the baby out with the bath water a couple times already. If you are aware of huge amounts of waste which can be eliminated quickly and have an instant ROI than it would be stupid not to do it in most business environments. There are situations where waste is a part of the business, meaning business will ignore the waste as an important item to quickly grow. Many startups which are very well funded will barely even address waste as they are focused on growth.... eventually the growth disappears and they have to squeeze to get margin.... cut waste.
Government isn't about massive growth and a priority should almost always be to get maximum value. Which is why federal agencies generally have fraud, waste and abuse programs.
It is true that some waste will always occur, we're human and not perfect, but the goal should be as least as possible.
My rough guess is about 40% of the federal government could be eliminated with very little impact to services, but this isn't across the board... meaning some agencies don't even need to exist.

being quick, and then going back to TRY and fix it after you have made the mess worse, is just more government inefficiency.
its not the only way. DOGE could literally keep doing what it is doing, but at a more controlled pace. to minimize their own mistakes and waste. They probably need to throw it all out and start from scratch on some things or just eliminate it completely, mistakes will be made but this is the only way.

Oh yes a slow nonpartisan approach is exactly what the country voted for. lol.
Who said elections have consequences?
