Derek Chauvin trial

I mean for the love of Christ, Nancy Pelosi on the verdict:

So again, thank you George Floyd for sacrificing your life for justice. For being there to call out to your mom, how heartbreaking was that, call out for your mom, I can't breathe.”

Such a ridiculous comment to make. Not surprising, though, given the source

Pelosi should also be thanking Chauvin. He's taking a life sentence for the country when he should have been jailed for a much shorter manslaughter conviction. Might even be a death sentence for him. Going to be hard to retain anonymity for Chauvin in jail. He'll likely get a shiv.

She should "thank" a murderer?!?!

Wtfff

Thats even dumber than her original comments, which were very dumb

Disagree. I watched the entire trial, every minute of it. I think they got it wrong. I find it hard to believe they were not influenced by the intense political climate. The jurors had been living in the middle of it for a year. Every one of them admitted to knowing about the case and seeing the video when they were selected. The trial should have been moved.

The state won the jury instruction argument which allowed way more latitude than the reading of the law. After I saw the instructions I knew it was over. The intentional assault condition is a required element of the murder charges and that was marginalized in the instructions and not proven IMHO. The state did a nice dance on that point but it's a slippery slope and could apply to any sort of use of force / tough restraint. They just opened the door to claim assault for anyone detained who's been resisting.

Right decision for the country to save civil unrest but the jury caved to political pressure. He was guilty of manslaughter, not those murder charges.

Are you saying it is the Judge’s instructions to the jury that sealed Chauvin’s fate? Are you saying, too, the Judge is the State as opposed to the independent 3rd branch of government?

This verdict is unusual only because of it’s guilty plea regarding a white cop being found guilty of murdering an unarmed black man when many prior murders didn’t even result in charges against the rogue police involved.

3rd degree at best. Assault was speculative.

No charge levied against Chauvin carries a life sentence so I’m not sure where you get that. Also, Chauvin will be isolated in prison so no shiv. He’s a “one of the guard” group he’ll get a lot of sympathy and favorable treatment from the guards, IMO

I still don’t understand the murder charge, but him staying on his neck after vitals were lost is damning and a terrible look for Mr. Chauvin.

It truly is a shame this is most likely to be undone due to multiple comments made by elected officials.

Win - win for the Socialist Democrat Party.

And how often are they found guilty of murdering unarmed white people, IF we're going to make this about race rather than just an unlawful death?

You obviously didn't watch the trial.

Playing the race card. The sign of the weak.

I stay away from the lying liberal brainwashing media. Don't know a thing about this....honestly, but if he was resisting arrest he should have been shot on the spot. I would be shot if I was fighting with any police and we should expect that. They have every right to shoot anyone that resists, fights or run from them.

They do not.

Another one who has an opinion but didn't watch the trial.

And also another horrible, completely false take.

Why don't you give them permission to sleep with your wife and daughters while you're at it.
