Discontinued fast food items rant

When I was in High School pretty much everyone ate lunch from the hamburgers, french fries and frosty line:cool:
LC High was the same way. The burger, fries, pizza line was long. I would go to the salad bar and make a bucket with tons of turkey and ham.

The HS I graduated from in Charlotte, NC I never ate lunch. The line was too long. I would get a pack of Lance crackers and a Diet Coke for $1.

My oldest told me that the food at our middle school was terrible...they had an option that if you didn't have money they gave you a grilled cheese sandwich...they had to change the rules because all the kids preferred the sandwich to the other food and didn't pay lol

Showing my age...when I was in high school we sometimes left at lunch cause it was an open campus just to drive around or go to Hardee's or McDs...same school looks like a maximum security prison now

Growing up my dad taught an adult Sunday school class and he would go early to church to prep and I would go to help unlock all the doors. But anyways we would always stop at McDonald's on the way and get sausage biscuits and gravy. It was good! I think they stopped that, not sure it ever came back since I don't go there. Just a fun memory.

My church fast food memory is Wendy’s frosties, but it was in high school (once we got cars). My buddy and I always sat in the back pew and every Sunday one of us would quietly duck out right after communion when there was a bit of a transition going on, then the other would duck out as they were passing the offering plates. Nobody ever seemed to notice.

We’d meet in the basement and leave through the back basement door that no one used, wedging something in the latch to keep it from locking. My dad was the minister and we knew he was long winded enough to go on at least a half hour with the sermon, which gave us time to drive to Wendy’s drive-thru and get a frosty and shoot the sh** along the way.

We’d come back before the service was over, wait to see the first person coming out, then duck back in the back basement door and go up and blend into the departing crowd, again unnoticed. Dad saw me leaving out the front door after church every Sunday as he was working the exit and never seemed to think anything was up.

We did that every Sunday for what must have been like two years. No one ever said a thing. And as a PK I can tell you if anyone had ever noticed they abso-freakin-lutely would have spoken up. Good times.

Yeah same. I stick with Jersey Mike's or Firehouse.

Both are way better than Subway now.

Blimpies is better than Subway

Subway seems so bland now.

Ugh, their quality sucks anymore too. Captain D's is better. Atleast in my neck of the woods.

No way! Long John Silver's is the bomb! Sadly they closed down the only one in west Knoxville a long time ago. I will eat Captain D's though. My biggest gripe about Captain D's is that there chicken is made with regular chicken batter. Long John's makes the chicken and fish with the same batter.

Anyone try those little stuffed biscuits at weigels? I love them and miss them. I used to stop and get one on my way to work every morning when I lived in Knoxville.

They still have them apparently. My dad was telling me I should try one just a few months ago. Lol

All I have is Wal-Mart and a piggly wiggly. Well there's a Publix, but I never shop there. There's a Kroger, but too far to drive.

No joke, Publix has the best desserts and birthday cakes. If you don't shop there fine, but try a birthday cake from there at least once.

Here's a McDonalds menu from 1970:cool:

If you ever order a filet o fish from McDonald's make sure to get it cooked fresh. Pro-tip I was given from someone that used to work there.

Just for the first one..then 4.99 afterward...I have an autistic son...it helps to have food shoved in his face so we don't have meltdowns

Is this son obese now?

Here's something interesting that will bring back a few fast food memories.:) McDonalds Roast Beef Sandwiches and Fried Chicken.:D:cool:

That is so weird. Does that not look just like an Arby's roast beef sandwich?

The Walmart Mountain Thunder is pretty close to Mountain Dew;)

Lol! It's Mountain Lightning. I'm only laughing because I just bought a 12 pack the other day. It has the exact same amount of caffeine(54mg) as Mountain Dew.

How much caffeine is in green tea ?

It depends on the tea itself or the drink it's in. Green tea does have caffeine it ranges from 15-30mg. The "pure" or "100 percent" green teas can have 45mg in them.

Lol........you sly dog you. I'd do the same with about 5 of us. We'd leave church service and go to to a famous Hotel here in Jackson. We'd sit there upstairs & talk & smoke our cigarettes for 50 minutes or so and then head back to the First Baptist Church. The only food that was available was at the Greyhound Bus Station.....the only thing there was just candy and chewing gum.....nothing like sandwiches to get you over the hump.

Back when Weigel's first opened in LC (mid-80's or so) they had a deli area in the back with an outstanding roast beef and smoked cheddar sammich.

I remember those green stamps you could get after every purchase. :cool:My Mom saved them up once and got a can opener:D

lol my mom used to save those too and I'm pretty damn sure that's where we got our electric can opener. She'd never have bought one of those things with cash, even though she loved it after she got it.

What are some of your favorite menu items that have been discontinued?
Taco Bell needs to bring back the spicy chicken burrito, the Baja style chalupas and gorditas, and the chili cheese burrito!
Miss the twister wrap from KFC.
Applebees sucks now too since they changed their whole menu. I miss their old chicken quesadillas, chicken Alfredo, and they used to have this amazing southwest chicken salad.
Outback steakhouse changed their shrimp on the barbee, and no longer have the delicious creamy onion soup or spicy Alfredo pasta that had shrimp and crawfish in it.
Pisses me off. Why do restaurants ruin a good thing? 😭
The chili cheese burrito was the bomb!!

I that seasonal pizza papa johns used to have. It was the only one worth eating there, I think it was the 5 or 7 sausage pizza. Had sausage, sweet Italian, spicy Italian, smoked, chorizo, and I think some others on it. Ya can't even piece it together off the menu, cause they don't carry half those toppings usually.
