The reason I say that is because a long time ago, I was coming back home to Tenn from a vacation in Florida and I stopped somewhere in GA to get some food.....BBQ I think. There was a lady taking orders at the counter & was yelling to the people (cooks) in the back what was ordered. The guy in front of me placed his order & the lady spoke his order out loud and added ... and a towel to go !! That's stuck with me all these years......I found it hilarious.

I ate there a lot with my family in Canton,Georgia from 1977-1979. McDonalds came to town and drove Burger Chef out of business

Same thing happened in Cleveland, TN after McD's came to town in the early 70's.

Burger Chef had that conveyor belt machine that took the patties through the fire IIRC.

Publix is too expensive however they make sandwiches as good as Subway or Blimpies

I think the bread they use is too hard. Roof of my mouth always sore after eating them.

Chk Fil A used to have a lemon pie that was the bomb. It was almost a key lime pie but not as lime-oney

I'm still pissed they got rid of their cheesecake. They were really good. I'd order it with blueberry topping. Yum.

I miss the rectangle shaped school pizzas with the little cubed pepperonis. My oldest told me they had pizza every Wednesday, so I was so excited to go eat lunch with her one day, only to find out they don't serve them anymore. This generation will never get to experience the delight of those pizzas. Crying shame.

Seriously..some of the best pizza I've ever had was cafeteria rectangle with sausage...one of my faves now is the Chef Boyardee pizza kits with extra sauce for dipping....Someone is missing the boat by not making a rectangle pizza and patenting it Lunchroom Style

It hasn't been said yet.....but when I was in HS we all loved the rolls that the cafeteria would serve each day.
Heck, I'd go back and get two more to eat just bc they were so dang good.

I forgot to mention that I got to eat free when I was in Jr. High and High School. I worked part-time behind a lunch counter while in Jr high. And in HS, I got to run errands for the principal.....like going to the bank to make school deposits and doing little odd jobs for secretaries. It was fun while it lasted.
