Disney: The Most Evil Business In The World

I think different people have different working definitions.
I was curious if the person I asked defined himself as one.
To me:
- If you voted for Trump in the 2016 primary (and stick by that vote), you 100% are
- If you believe the 2020 election was stolen, you are
- If you believe there was little wrong with the whole Jan. 6 thing, you are
- If you believe democrats are out to destroy our country, you are
- If you think MTG does more good than harm, you are
Sooooo is it not just as valid that different conservatives have differing definitions of „woke“? Yet the left always seems to quibble over the differing definitions offered by conservatives

What if you don’t necessarily believe that Democrats are „out to destroy America“ (ie that is their goal) but rather that „their well meant intentions are destroying America as an unintended consequence“? Does that make one MAGA?

Offfffffff course conservatives have different definitions and of course it is equally valid. Did I ever say anything to the contrary?
If you asked 10, you would 100% get 10 different definitions.

Every conservative who uses the term, but cannot really define it, can have their definition summed up thusly:
Woke = pretty much everything I have been conditioned to hate about the democratic party.
It's nothing more than the new buzz word for the right wing.

That certainly makes one less MAGA on the continuum.

My definition of woke is putting a group identity before personal characteristics and assigning these groups into oppressors and oppressed.
I still believe in the America that I grew up in in which a person was meant to be judged first by their own virtues or lack thereof; not by the colour of their skin or their sexual preferences.
Healthy society tries to focus on our similarities and bring us into closer empathy with each other’s humanity. „Woke“ is that which brings division by highlighting and focusing predominantly on our differences.
E pluribis unum is more than just a motto. It is the only way to build a society in a heterogeneous population

I am not sure where that puts one on the continuum, but it seems indicative of a more open mind.

I'm convinced you believe that.

I'm a little suspicious that people of color or various sexual persuasions may view that America in which you grew up a little differently. They may even say that they were judged almost exclusively on the color of their skin or sexuality.
An America in which a person is judged first by their own virtues or lack thereof; not by the color of their skin or their sexual preferences is precisely what they are longing for and working toward.

So in summary, we all want the same thing;
some just view it as a something we had in the past and a place to which we need to return, while others view it as something we were nowhere near to achieving in the past, but a place we need to continue striving to reach.

I guess it depends on one's perspective. And I hope you understand why some may have a different perspective.

Honestly, I didn't find it interesting at all. The closest thing to interesting for me was that Graceland was the most searched vacation destination for people in TN, Arkansas, and Mississippi.

Seemed like a weird way of portraying Disney in a negative light.
But we all know the right has an obsessive desire to portray Disney, Hollywood, the media, NYC, Chicago, ATL, (any diversified metro area), differing sexual orientations,.... etc. in the most negative way possible.

Only thing I wish to directly point out is the stark difference between two parks located just a few miles from each other (meaning it is not geographical in nature). For years and years, Orlando meant Disney and Vice versa. If people went to Universal or Sea World, it was usually a one or two day addendum to a Disney trip (always that way for my family). Now Universal is apparently the top draw and primary destination for a trip to Central Florida. You may wish to downplay the significance of the shift; but I guarantee you the boardrooms at Disney have definitely taken notice.

By the way, no need to „portray“ NYC, Chicago, and Atlanta in a negative light. They are doing that just fine on their own without any assistance from conservatives at all. Go hang out in the projects on the South Side of Chicago some Saturday night and get back to us ok? (Heck, even the Miracle Mile (a place I once LOVED to visit) is getting pretty dicey now).

The article didn't say that at all.

It said Universal was more searched - not more attended........huge difference, and one that makes sense.
Universal is great, but they certainly haven't taken business from Disney. It's more like they complement each other.

Did you read the part of the article that said Disney has to turn away people because of capacity, which is why they raise prices.

Absurd. I've gone to NYC 3 times over the past few months. It's thriving. Check out housing/rental prices.
Spend a lot of time in ATL. Daughter purchased a 1940s house in Atlanta less than a year ago and has already been offered 150K more than she paid for it.

There were bad sections in Chicago 50 years ago, 100 years ago.
There have always been bad sections in high density areas everywhere in the world.
Hell, there are bad areas in Rockwood TN.

And yet, one company is cutting jobs and the other is hiring. Interesting, no?
While Disney Cuts Thousands of Jobs, Universal Florida is Hiring 2,500 New Employees

Let’s see how the numbers look. If things are so fantastic in the big cities, people should be flocking there, right?
Census: New York saw steepest population decline in the last year
79% of Illinois communities lose people in 2021; Chicago loses 45K

lol........That's one of the biggest trash articles I've seen. It does nothing but emphatically prove my point......the right-wing propaganda machine is doing all it can to trash Disney. Read the article.....no don't, it's horrible. I'll post a couple of direct quotes.

"The film studio has produced flop and flop after becoming more woke in their storytelling." (actual quote from article)
"But Disney’s fully bought into the modern woke activist corporate model. Entertainment companies can’t simply provide fun, escapism and an enjoyable environment "
"Go woke, go broke."

Was that written by a 10th grader? People actually read this type of crap? And believe what they are reading??? SMDH

See first word.............OPINION

Plus, I can't open it to read it.
I'm perfectly happy if urban areas lose some of their past supremacy. Spread it around.
It's the right that hate's urban areas, not the left that hates rural areas.
It's funny how Trump and the right played on the inferiority complex imbedded in so many rural dwellers.... It's all part of the increasing divide they are successfully creating.

An acolyte of the party of DEI and BLM wishes to complain about creating divisions? 😳

Does one have to agree with ALL of those, or just some. The truth of the matter is that I qualify based on the meaning of MAGA. Make America Great Again. Rather than destroying it one EO at a time like your brain donor hero is doing.

Do you think AOC is doing more good than harm?

Here's a little about your source.
"In reality, however, The Center Square is the latest iteration of a far-right propaganda operation run by the Franklin News Foundation (FNN), a group bankrolled by Koch funds and controlled by members of the State Policy Network."
Everything you link is from a right-wing source with an obvious agenda.....which again proves what I said.
The right-wing propaganda machine is attempting to make NYC, Disney, etc....look as bad as possible.
Their minions or falling for it.

Plus the biased article you linked even attributed most of the decline to COVID - which had more impact on urban areas.

Just some.......it's a continuum.
I think she is doing more good.
