They didn't block a vote. They had a full vote, and rightfully rejected him.
All Reid was asking for was at least an up or down vote on Obama's picks.

Wonder if it was retaliation for Reid blocking 20 of Bush’s picks? I’m not really mad either way. One nominated his secretary and John Roberts and the other nominated Merrick Garland. Neither one showed very good judgement.

And why was he voted down? Lack of qualifications? Unethical behavior? Criminal record?
No…totally because of his political beliefs. The Democrats started a war over a President‘s broad prerogative to nominate judicial appointments of his own choosing. It was very rare to vote down an otherwise qualified candidate just because of the way you thought they would vote. The Democrats made a largely nonpartisan courtesy vote into a winner take all Thunderdome. So please spare us the weeping over the Republicans deciding to play the same game

What gave the republicans the right to use an unprecedented number of filibusters?
Again, they used HALF OF ALL THAT HAD EVER BEEN USED IN THE SENATE!!!!!!!!!!!!
The democrats tried multiple negotiations. The nuclear option had always been used as a threat and the minority party had always finally relented to avoid its use.
What should the democrats have done? The repubs were not even allowing a vote. You know good and well who was obstructing out of sheer partisan division.

The democrats should have waited till they won an election and got enough votes. They set the new rules and then didn’t want to play the game. Of course then they totally debased the process even further by bringing in an outright proven liar in to trash an outstanding Bret Kavenaugh.
The Democrats will stoop to ANY depth in order to win the courts. Primarily because they don’t want to lose their right to kill unborn babies.
Let’s face it, the entire Judicial Wars revolved around one question. Abortion

They used half? My God that’s absurd. That would be almost as crazy as one party using Article 2 Section 4,( against a President) the same number of times in 14 months as had been used in the first 244 years we were a country!!

Cut back on the caffeine. All they had to do was get 60 Senators. Something the GOP will manage by 2028.
nobody forced Reid to Nuke the judicial Fillibuster. But I am sure tickled he did.

You understand which came first on the timeline I assume. And that's what was being debated.
And during your spare time, look into what the republicans had already planned in that regard had Hillary won.

Plus......Trump needed to be impeached; better yet, repubs should have had the backbone to invoke the 25th.

As someone who admits to voting for Biden in the general election, it’s interesting that you think Trump is the one who should have been given the 25th. I mean yes he should have, but the fact that it would never occur to you that Biden or Obama for that matter should have been, is evidence of your breathtaking level of indoctrination.

I said they should use the 25th on Biden as soon as he was elected. There is obviously a chasm between what you think you know and actual truth. Which explains a lot.

No. I voted against Trump. I said all along that I was one of tens of millions who would vote for a rock before they would vote for Trump. I never supported Biden.
