Disney: The Most Evil Business In The World

Imagine the governor of Texas trying to crush Southwest Airlines for fighting unreasonable regulatory law? Would have retarded the economy for a decade, if successful.

LOL

I take it that you support the ruling party politically persecuting people that actively and publicly disagree with them?

No, like I said I support the government in this case protecting the K-3 children from being taught sexual orientation and gender identity. That is the genesis of this issue. A law was passed by the state legislature that ensured these protections.

And because Disney (not even sure this is the case) disagreed with and lobbied against the law DeSantis has singled them out for persecution. I'm sorry but I have a huge problem with that.

So you have a problem with large public corporations using their considerable money and influence over politicians to sway their positions, even if that is against the will of the voters?

I don't have a problem with people or corporations legally lobbying government. If you want to discuss changing the lobbying laws I would be happy to discuss that.

Random thoughts:

"I'll just take my ball and go home" - has been said at some point in Ron's life

Weird how unflinching both sides are behind their candidates regardless how hey present themselves....my fellow republicans are in favor of a guy that is trying to derail a successful business because of a fired CEO's scary words. Kinda like how proud Dems were when Clinton put 100k more police on the streets...now they are hoping to defund them

Anyone else think it's weird that the Florida legislature thinks it's ok to talk to 4th graders about gender/sexual identity issues?

Great the law passed. Disney did not like the way the law was written and said so. DeSantis decided that speaking out deserved punishment. Little dictator wannabe.

More color for you ... weird that the goal of a company is having sexual orientation and gender identity taught to K-3 school children is a state.

Disney became an outspoken critic of the measure, going so far as to say its “goal as a company” is having the bill “repealed by the legislature or struck down in the courts.”

In return, Florida stripped Disney of its “independent special district” status, with DeSantis warning that if the company chose to use its “economic might to attack the parents of my state,” he would treat it as a “provocation” and “fight back.”

Thanks for showing how he is punishing an entity for disagreeing with him on policy. I'm sure if Biden did the same with (pick a company) you'd support that move also.

To be fair, Disney along with others who spoke out against the bill did not mean they supported sexualized material taught K-3. The opposition was largely about language and vaugery in the legislation. It's disingenuous to say opposition equals support for child sexualization.

Context and nuance.

If that is the case, they clearly could have cleaned that up very easily, but they didn't.

He seems to revel in it. Plus he could have killed it at anytime.

I have no sympathy for large corporations that want to dabble in politics. I remember the good old days when none of them said anything about political issues and just promoted their products.
It seems like ever since Gillette decided to tell men that they were all misogynistic bastards, others thought it was a great thing and jumped onboard. Now all we get are constant lectures from companies that seem to take further leftist stances, and people are just totally sick of it. Until they get a scolding from their customers via a decline in sales or a slap in the pocket book from states like Florida, they will keep pushing an agenda that is fueled by a minority of the country.

You have made a leap of logic that does not exist. Having the bill repealed is different than having a goal of teaching gender identity taught to K-3. The bill had other consequences with which many people found room to disagree.

Companies have always dabbled in politics, it just wasn't reported or noticed like it is now with everyone having a blog and computer.

I don't have any sympathy either had the backlash came from their customers and not the government.

LOL. It is not policy, it is the law that was passed by the state of Florida.

Protecting the children and their families is the purpose of this law. The whole impetus for Disney was to fight this law and therefore be for teaching sexual orientation and gender identity to the K-3 children. Disney decided to double down. So, DeSantis decided to re-look at Disney's tax gift getting them to be treated the same as everyone else. How "big government" of him.

So do you think the legislatures voted on this without some kind of feedback from the voters? Even those dumb idiots in Washington don't pass a law without figuring out whether their constituents are in favor of it. Disney screwed up and pissed off a lot of people and now they are paying the piper.

It looks like they are trying to shoot their own foot off anyway.
