Disney: The Most Evil Business In The World

That is not correct.
Yes it is:

The special tax district allows Disney wide-ranging autonomy, including over local police and fire departments on the land where its theme park sits in Orlando. It currently saves the company tens of millions of dollars a year in exemptions from various regulations, taxes and fees, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the company’s finances.

Ever hear the word "Veto"? An executive is supposed to veto bullshat legislation if it gets to his desk, actually with his party in control of the legislature it shouldn't even get to his desk. If at any point while these bills were going through the FL legislature had he let the legislatures leaders know he wasn't signing them they would have died a quiet death. He wanted these bills.
Sure he did. However, it was through a proper channel. The one in the white house does everything he can do execute it via EO. We as Floridians have more power against the legislature in terms of voting and running. That's who should get the criticism.

Wouldn't that be awesome to have him making similar statements with the power of the WH behind him???

No, this "action" is being taken by DeSantis because Disney had the temerity to disagree with him. He then lashed out like a child. Disney spanked his a$$ and now he's lashing out again. Disney will take this little wanna be dictator behind the woodshed again. It'll be fun to watch. He is destroying his chances at the presidency with his ginormous ego. He may be worse than Trump.

The obligatory inevitable "he may be worse than Trump post". Then let me guess, the next guy will be worse than Desantis. Lol.

I am saying should be free to disagree with the law, as written without reprisals from the government. Government reprisals for disagreement with policy is acceptable in a dictatorship not in a free society.

Didn't Disney make this a public issue before Desantis? So in essence didn't they enter the arena of politics? We don't need those tallywags trying to influence sex policy for kids.

The lengths to which Ron DeSantis seems willing to go in his petty fight with Disney are starting to worry some Republicans as well. DeSantis needs to be able to identify when something has been carried too far. It's not clear that he has that political sense.

DeSantis is making changes to make a large company in his state pay their fair share of taxes. I thought the left want corporations to pay their fair share?

But the right wants low or zero corp taxes right?

And it saves the state and surrounding municipalities millions a year.

Unfortunately, DeSantis and the government had to get involved to defend the defenseless which in this case are the Florida children. The people of Florida voted to not allow the K-3 children having to discuss their genitals with the schools. Disney was prepared to utilize their vast legal resources and California values where they were getting hit with protests and pushbacks to fight the will of Florida citizens. Money will be shifted around and Disney will probably end up paying more in taxes to the state to protect the children and the will of Florida citizens.

I thought the right wanted smaller government, with less intrusion?

This seems more like retaliation for Disney's executives publicly opposing the "Don't Say Gay bill" .... than it does Disney paying their fair share.

Sure. Don't have the details of the states numbers but if a big corporation is paying less than the others then having them pay more should keep the overall rate flat for the others.

Actually it should be lowered if they're being consistent. "Fair share" has never been a right wing ideal

Trump says Disney could LEAVE Florida over DeSantis war: Ex-President says Governor is being 'destroyed' and Magic Kingdom will start 'moving money out' in a 'killer' for his state

  • Donald Trump took Disney World's side in the company's war with Ron DeSantis
  • Walt Disney Co. is a massive donor to pro-Trump America First Action
Donald Trump predicted that Disney's next move could be to leave Florida and prompt a financial 'killer' for Ron DeSantis amid the governor's war with the corporation.

The former president said the Florida Governor - and his potential 2024 presidential rival - is being 'destroyed' by the Magic Kingdom and claimed his 'original P.R. plan fizzled'.

Disneyland Will Host First Ever Pride Nite During ‘After Dark’ Series

Disneyland announced late last week that the California-based theme park will host its first-ever Pride Nites as part of the park’s “After Dark” series in June.

The LGBTQIA+ event — dubbed “Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite” — will be the first of its kind to be held in the self-described “happiest place on earth” and will extend for two nights, June 13th and June 15th.

“The first-ever Disneyland After Dark: Pride Nite is coming to @Disneyland during Pride Month in June,” Disney tweeted from the brand account. “This separately ticketed event celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community and allies will have themed entertainment, Disney characters, specialty menu items & more.”

If Trump did say this then he is somewhat of a hack. I already don't even like the medicare commercial being run. I may not vote for him in the primary even if Desantis doesn't run. But because the democrats are USA killers at this point, I would probably vote for him in the general but it's getting tougher to like him even if he makes good policy decisions.

Maybe they can get Dylan M to make a surprise special appearance.

Speaking out against your government shouldn't come with the possibility of reprisals. That makes us more like North Korea than the good ole US of A.

I take it that you support the ruling party politically persecuting people that actively and publicly disagree with them?

There is absolutely nothing inherently wrong or undesirable about a company entering the political arena. It's an obvious threat to liberty, prosperity, and responsible government for an executive to use the powers of his office to punish a company for entering the political arena. Does this really have to said?
