Disney: The Most Evil Business In The World

I thinks some of the headlines are a little misleading. The Star Wars park was $1B, a 100 room hotel with no windows designed to be like the inside of a starship was just a small part. Rooms for 3 adults and one child, that’s where the marketers missed the boat. That doesn’t sound like the typical Star Wars fan with enough money to visit
The headlines weren't misleading, they were pure lies....

'A dream come true' or 'Overpriced with Hard Beds and Thin Walls'? What Disney super fans REALLY thought about Star Wars hotel that is set to Close just a year after opening

  • Disney World's expensive Star Wars hotel is closing after just one year
  • The two-night 'voyage' aboard the Galactic Starcruiser cost guests up to $20,000 for the experience
Many Disney and Star Wars fans were left devastated after news broke that the immersive Star Wars hotel would be shutting its doors later this year.

But to others, it will come as little surprise after claiming all along that a visit to the hotel was simply not worth the hefty price tag.

The hotel, which opened in March 2022 in the Orlando-area to much fanfare and sold out 'voyages,' charges guests anywhere between $5,000 and $20,000 for an immersive two-night experience.

Some super fans have been quick to post videos online where they are crying with happiness at their 'dream come true' stay.

But others, such as park enthusiasts Taylor Jaxson and Sarah Pineda, who go by the name @themeparkbesties, were far less enthusiastic.

In one Instagram post from February last year, the two claimed the beds were hard, they had only been given 'a single, sleeping bag type blanket' and the walls and door were so thin they could hear everything go on around them.

The two ultimately decided it was not worth the money at all

On Tripadvisor, one person said the hotel was a 'total rip off' and that it would be better to stay in a motel.

The unknown poster, who went to the hotel in August last year, wrote: 'It was a total rip off! Its better to stay at a motel.

'Very limited food both quantity and variety, was more like we were in a jail.

'I am a Disney fan and I know Disney is expensive, but they normally give you something for your money.

'This Starwars Galactic cruise is a robbery, you are paying $5,000 for a family of 4, for nothing.'

But their take on the hotel was in stark contrast to other overwhelmed visitors who appeared to be blown away by their experiences.

In a TikTok summary of her experience, she says: 'I took two steps on board and immediately started crying.

'It was all so real, I loved the theming [in the cabin]. I was freaking out.'

As word of the closure spread to Reddit, one user said: 'It looks like an actual maximum security prison from the exterior. What a waste of money for everyone.'

Another commented: 'This is actually hilarious.

The expensive and immersive Star Wars hotel at Walt Disney World in Florida is closing after just one year of taking guests on a two-night 'voyage' that could cost up to $20,000

Can't believe it's closing.

How much did the hotel itself cost?

So did some accountant run the numbers and figure out the payback on this hotel? I'm thinking hotels have a fairly small profit margin during their first 5 to 10 years.

Disney overestimated demand. At $5K Revpar per night, they would make money. At 1K a night, they wouldn't.

Once the Star Wars diehards visited, there wasn't residual enough demand to keep this profitable.

Worked at Hilton Corporate many moons ago....

Sounds like some of the laid off people were the ones that justified this boondoggle.

Depends on the hotels. The flag (what they call your affiliation, like Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Express) is typically for only ten years. If you want to renew your flag with the same people you have to gut the hotel and remodel it in accordance with then applicable flag standards. They do take a look at your numbers before agreeing to do that. And it's not going to be worth it unless your profitability is good.

I worked with a company on a project that got a 20 year flag on a beach hotel, but the contract still calls for them to redo the hotel at the 10 year mark or forfeit the flag.

You do have the option to not renew your current relationship and take a step down, like when you see one that was a Hampton Inn last year and is a Days Inn now. The lesser flags will typically allow you to do a limited remodel, mostly just changing the labeling, signage, etc. But you're going to have a drop of revenue because you can't charge the same for a Days Inn room compared to a Holiday Inn Express or Hampton, or even a Hilton Garden Inn.

You will see a lot of them just ride it all the way down to the bottom. Those are usually ones owned by a single ethic/cultural group.

The surprise for me was how much value is allocated to the reservation system, i.e. Holiday Inn versus Days Inn.

So by a single "cultural/ethnic group" you mean the Patel cartel?

Haha. An Orlando realtor has positive things to say about Orlando? Print it!

Nobody wants to move anywhere right now, especially CA, with these interest rates.
It'll be interesting to see how this market reacts. I saw that NAR posted a negative membership number for the first time in awhile. Low buyers make it hard to maintain. This should be the higher inventory time of the year coming up.

DeSantis: Trump Siding with Disney — ‘Multinational Corporation that Wants to Sexualize Kids’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) said Thursday on NewsMax TV’s “The Balance” that former President Donald Trump is siding with the Walt Disney Company, which he called “a multinational corporation that wants to sexualized kids.”

“So I think we have a lot of folks that will consider somebody like me who has proven to be very strong,” he continued. “You know, I’m standing up to people like Disney and with due respect to the former president, he’s taken Disney side in this now. I’m standing against Disney. I’m standing for the kids. I’m standing for the parents. I don’t think these kids should be sexualized. We took away their self governing status, and I’m not backing down one inch from that. I think are voters want to see somebody that can fight but also somebody that can win.”

These 2 morons are going to ensure the Dems gets the WH.

Took my daughter to see The Little Mermaid today. Just not very good. Melissa McCarthy was good and Ariel had a decent voice but it just wasn't good....

Really? Audience score is 95%. Critics don't care much for it, tho.

Wife's taking my daughter tomorrow

Too long IMO. Middle part dragged. Not bad, just not good. I thought Beauty and the Beast live remake was better.

Ariel was decent. Great singer and OK actress. Eric wasn't good and it appeared there was little chemistry between them.

Graphics were hit or miss (more miss than hit on the surface)

I don't have patience for any of the remakes, tbh.

Disney Plus Series ‘Matildas: The World at Our Feet’ Praised as a ‘Powerful Display of Queer Joy’

In keeping with Disney’s drive to create as much content extolling LGBTQIA2S+ identity as possible, the entertainment giant has posted a limited series about the lesbians who play for Australia’s national women’s soccer team — Matildas: The World At Our Feet.

The six-episode series follows the lives of three members of the team on and off the soccer field.

With the FIFA Women’s World Cup set to kick off in Australia and New Zealand between July 20 and Aug. 20, Disney has produced its “inspirational and intimate” look at the gay players, including team captain Sam Kerr, forward Emily Gielnik and midfielder Tameka Yallop, Pink News noted, calling the series “the best LGBTQ+ series you’re not watching.”.

I'm not liberal.. I just believe in govt not picking winners and losers....

I believe in govt officials not weaponizing agencies to go against political opposition. This isn't Iran

I made same exact comments in Trump Bragg thread. I'm consistent with my belief govt shouldn't be weaponized against opponents.

Don't we all.

Let's say the voters of FL didn't care what their K-3 children are taught. They didn't care about Disney's CEO following along with the 'don't say gay' lie while being part of that same profitable problem, or Chapek inserting himself by urging DeSantis not sign or they'd fight it in court. Or that the people didn't support the legislature/DeSantis for revoking special status.

I think he was still right to do it.

I think playing by the rules has done nothing but put conservatives/constitutionalists down by 5 in the ninth inning. This is why the military and FBI are looking under the beds in barracks and school parents homes for white supremacists, domestic terrorists, or something. DOJ/FBI, intel, and Democrat committees nearly took out a sitting president with an espionage/double-agent hoax, our FBI makes themselves the disinfo police for news/social media, coercing media so they run interference for the Biden family which polls indicate put Biden in office with 6-15% who would not have voted for him. 51 CIA officials join - knowingly - in that effort to elect Biden.

This is how we've installed despots and protected authoritarians around the world, but FL vs Disney is alarming? When does the tipping point alarm sound if not right there? That there may not be enough country left to salvage playing by the rules?
