Shares of the Walt Disney Co. have been downgraded by analysts who believe the studio’s streaming growth has stalled, potentially leading to tough times ahead as Disney continues to pour billions of dollars into the digital money pit.

Analysts at KeyBanc lowered their rating on Disney to “Sector Weight” from “Overweight” and gave the stock a price target of $85. Shares of Disney closed Thursday around $89.

Keybanc said it also believes Disney’s theme park attendance has been weak.

Lazy reporting. Last quarter Disney parks division was up over a billion dollars in revenue vs prior year. That's one quarter. Their business plan was to increases prices, to decrease attendance, to provide a better experience and make more money. Streaming they need to figure out. It's killing then right now

All the Disney/espn layoffs. They made it seem that “wokeness” had no price nor needed to be profitable.

Weekend Box Office: INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY Draws Disappointing $60M Domestic Debut

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny failed to whip up much excitement over its opening weekend at the domestic box office. The film bowed to an estimated $130 million worldwide, including a disappointing $60 million 3-day haul coming from North America. The domestic figures are projected to hit $82 million over the five-day holiday weekend frame, a steep decline from the opening weekend of its predecessor, 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, which earned $100 million in its debut. The $60 million three-day figure actually comes in below the domestic opening weekend for Paramount’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, which opened to $61 million back in June.

Critics Shred Latest Indiana Jones as Nostalgic Flop that ‘debases the legacy’ of the franchise

Reviewers slammed the latest film for featuring the iconic hero as a 'broken, helpless old man' cowering while his 'patronising goddaughter takes the lead'

A variety of critics and reviews have skewered the latest installment of the "Indiana Jones" series as it faces disaster at the box office.

"It’s all but official. ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny’ will put Disney in the red. Again," Hollywood in Toto reported. "The fifth and presumably final film in the iconic saga opened to a weak $60 million at the U.S. box office." The article went on to note, "’Dial of Destiny’ arrives with a bloated $295 million budget (or worse) plus millions in P&A. That means it’ll take a cinematic miracle for ‘Dial of Destiny’ to break even."

While Insidious: The Red Door will certainly be profitable after already doubling its production budget, that might not be the same for Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

The sequel has a reported production budget rumored to be between $250 million and $300 million, not counting production and advertising costs which typically run a major studio between $100 million and $150 million.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny - the final installment in the Indiana Jones franchise starring Harrison Ford - has now earned $121.2 million domestic and $247.9 million worldwide.

When factoring in publicity and advertising - along with back-end profit participation points for stars and directors - most big studio movies need to earn back at least twice its budget before it starts turning a profit... which seems unlikely to happen with Indy.

ESPN, LucasFilms, and Disney+ seem to be Disney's big headache right now. Remove those three and they are very profitable. I can see them merging Disney plus with Hulu in near future and selling off ESPN and LucasFilms.

How Kathleen Kennedy has a job is beyond surprising and stupid on part of Disney.

Crowds visiting Disney theme parks have THINNED this summer - with Fourth of July weekend the slowest in nearly a decade - with price hikes and changes to park operations souring families

Crowds at Disney theme parks have been noticeably thinner this summer with Fourth of July weekend the slowest in nearly a decade.

Summertime - especially Fourth of July - at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida is normally one of the busiest times.

But the holiday weekend one of the slowest compared to past years in nearly a decade, according to data from Touring Plans, a travel company that tracks wait times at amusement parks.

My wife and I turned on Raiders of the Lost Ark last night and I hadn't seen it in nearly 20 years....if this movie came out today, we'd all hate it. It was awesome at the time, but it's so campy now. I feel the same way about Star Wars...

Maybe the issue with all these bad Lucasfilm sequels is that staying true to the tone and feel of the originals is making them stupid.

Good. Too crowded in the past, especially with season pass locals.

Not sure about the Indiana Jones film but having a ship hyperspace the enemy fleet lie in the Last Jedi or having someone who just picked up a light Saber beat someone that has been training for years like Rey vs Kylo Ren in A Force Awakens kind if did it for me. The issue with sequels is lack of detail or thought in the scenes to the point that actions/events are unbelievable even for a Fantasy World.

The ship in Last Jedi turning around and hyper spacing into the enemy fleet was my favorite scene in the movie.

But I know what you mean about not thinking out details.

But aren't the old movies that way? Like what about the Rancor fight? He hits the control panel with a rock and breaks it and that closes the door? OK. Leia's strong enough to choke an elephant-sized creature to death? Ain't no fkn way. The most cited stupidity is the Ewoks taking down the empire. But we were kids, so it washed over us. In fact, all of these examples come from RotJ, which was my favorite of the original trilogy. LOL

Star wars is overrated. Don't @ me.

Ewoks don't take down Empire alone, rebel troops help. Also, I always consider that one to be more of a surprise.

I do think having multiple directors messed up sequel trilogy. I never have watched 9. Bringing back Palpatine reeked of desperateness and frankly ruins end of ROTJ. They should not have killed off Snoke.

If Raiders came out today, then modern CGI would have been used in the film. The old face melting Nazi scene was cinema excellence back in the early 80s.

This tells the tale

"The average posted wait time at the Magic Kingdom park in Florida—which has a special fireworks display on July 4—was 27 minutes this year for the holiday, down from 31 minutes in 2022"

So a 12% dropoff with ticket price hikes and the hottest 4th of July in 25 years. It's been sweltering in Orlando.

Got tickets to a Halloween party at California Adventure. I think we paid around $200 and got in early because my BIL is some sort of express customer. It was similar to the Taylor Swift ticket fiasco. They sold out in no time and now tickets are getting scalped for upwards of $1500 rn. Unfortunately, I will not be able to talk anybody into selling.

Wow! I didn’t realize they had that kinda resale market. I haven’t been to any of the Halloween events but the Christmas one was a blast. I just wish they would have had more themed rides. Like a Christmas Haunted Mansion would have been fun

Contrary to what random tweeters (who have no idea how to read a financial statement)

Disney had over 6 billion dollars of free cash flow (FCF) from operations last year

Disney covered their interest expense 4.5x from FCF from operations.

Their last 9 movies (excluding Avatar 2) reportedly lost 1 billion dollars. Of course, they fail to include Avatar 2 (which made over 2.5 billion dollars at the box office). Funny how that got excluded....

Not saying Disney doesn't have its issues but any implication that they are being forced to sell ESPN because they are broke is a complete and utter lie not based on any facts...
