Disrespect. Respect Earned. Motivation. We should be in Knoxville.

We should be hosting a game in Knoxville against Ohio State. We got absolutely disrespected. This should motivate Tennessee to crush Ohio state. If I’m Heupel I’m making it known to the team the disrespect our university received. And it’s time to make them pay for that disrespect, don’t even make this game close. Just beat the ever loving **** out of this team. Hit them hard, make them feel it. Make them feel the disrespect.
We shouldn't have lost to Arkansas period. Get over it.

Ohio State beat PSU and Indiana and barely lost to I defeated Oregon. Their egg was Michigan and ours was Arkansas. Their resume is better to host. Our best win was Bama and second best win was Florida. I'm not sure why so many are griping. Im thrilled. Let's go!
Correct. Beat Arkansas and we would have been in uga's current spot even with a loss to them.

We had the same record as Ohio State navigating an SEC schedule. If you can’t see the disrespect there that we’re an SEC school with the same record as a big ten school that just lost to a 6-5 Michigan team they were a 3 score favorite—AT HOME—and can’t see the disrespect—you’re not intelligent or paying attention.

The sec doesn’t deserve any more respect than any other conference.

The reality is that no one cares to see Tennessee succeed but us. Whether decision makers for college football want others to succeed is difficult to prove.

Let’s face it, many of us stayed up last night hoping to see something that kept Bama from the playoffs. While not conspiring, we shared our grievances in hopes that our cumulative opinions would somehow reach the committee.

I am without certain that everyone vying for a home playoff spot have done the same towards the Vols. As to why the committee chose in favor of others is nothing other than bias and pick your criteria to support the decisions. Unfortunately, that’s as fair as this committee has been willing to provide.
I don't disagree with anything you said. What I am referring to is the belief that AP voters, networks, etc etc all conspires to keep Tennessee from success and that if anything negative happens to Tennessee, it's the fault of those who conspires. It's all so exhausting. I'm talking about the "whoa is me" victim mentality that is so prevalent.

Yeah, but as you said, is what it is. I just refuse to buy into the common narrative around here that Tennessee always gets robbed and everyone conspires against us. I think things worked out quite well considering the season.
I've already seen comments complaining about the officials for our game in Columbus.

The "they're all out to get me" people border on Captain Queeg around here, already trying to create a narrative that the SEC always hates us, the CFP hates us, the refs all hate us...... and there's a massive conspiracy all over the world of football to keep Tennessee down.

It's actually the worst kind of narcissism.

THANK YOU! Narcissism is the accurate word for it. I used to wait tables to ver 20 years ago and a couple complained to the manager that I never came to their table because they were mixed race. The reality is, my section has expanded and I had no idea it was my table. It wasn't that I was racist, it's that I was bad at my job. Not everything is a diabolical plot, and judging everyone's intent and motives is a horrible way to go through life.

History tends to show the teams that claim to be “disrespected“ usually get their ass handed to them. See FSU 2023. If we need the motivation of feeling “disrespected“ to win, most likely we’re gonna get clobbered. This has been the projected matchup and the most projected location for the last month for Tennessee. If the committee is wrong, we will prove it on December 20.

Not hosting not only cost the fan base a great and historic experience, it cost Tennessee, conservatively, 10 million and Knoxville probably 25 million.

I never want to hear strength of schedule or strength of wins mentioned again. Nor even head to head. None of that matters apparently. Schedule weak, and win vs the worst, hope you don't get beat too bad by the good teams and soak in the glory.
We are scheduling weak for the foreseeable future. Syracuse, Nebraska, West Virginia, and Washington are not exactly a murderer’s row.

Well Ohio State only became projected when they lost to Michigan. Had they beaten Michigan, we would have played at ND or Penn State. And we only got into the field with the upsets the week before. We have only been projected to play Ohio State for the first time a week ago.

But I do agree that the “world is out to get us narrative” is ridiculous and pathetic. We haven’t really looked very good since SEC play started, so just getting in the thing is fair.

Syracuse is 9-3 and just knocked a top 10 Miami team out of the playoff. Washington played for the national championship last season.

I'm talking we play nothing but g5 or FCS teams. No road ooc. There's no point in risking the millions of dollars a home playoff game brings for a game away from home vs a bigger school.

Syracuse is due to take a big step back next year. Virtually no one responsible for the UW run is there now, and that is way in the future anyway.

The SEC already plays one less conference game than the Big 10, for instance. I never hear that mentioned though. And if just being in the SEC means we would dominate every other conference, then there shouldn’t be any fear in playing a bunch of mid teams in other conferences, should there? BTW, we got seeded higher than 2 at large teams that finished the regular season with fewer losses than we did. So strength of schedule did indeed matter.

This year, I totally agree. SEC fans say we all have losses because it's a brutal schedule.. I think it may be that SEC teams just aren't that great this year. Did those look like two elite teams in the SECCG to anyone? How did Ga Tech hang 42 on our mighty champion?

I see it here continually but I've never figured out who this "THEY" is who has it in for UT. Sometimes it's "the call came in from Birmingham" or "Sankey must have gotten the word to the refs" or "the NCAA would never let...." or now "the committee is obviously biased against us."

It's a "whack-a-mole" of people who so obviously do nothing but hate on UT and stack everything against us.

It's nuts trying to keep up with who is "the bad guy who is pulling the strings" every week.

Tech outplayed them and was screwed on a bs 4th down pi. The new overtime format is garbage too btw. Georgia is the most vanilla team to be ranked as high as they are. They have benefited from hanging around and letting teams beat themselves along with some ridiculous officiating. Not to mention they’ve fumbled the ball like 40 times and recovered 39 of them.

You’re right on point. But even still, not a single person at the major sports networks has even mentioned this team by name except in the passing to get to some other team to talk about. We’ve been overlooked all season and I also agree with OP that if I’m coaching I’m telling these guys every day that message

Who do you guys think got the worst draw and the best?
I think TN, OSU and Oregon all got a bum draw.
Looks like Penn State has a good one

I don’t understand why Heupel would need to play the disrespect card to get his team to show up. They are in the playoffs when 90% of the rest of college football teams are not. Isn’t that motivation enough??

We better be up mentally. OSU lost to their most hated rival and a deep run in the playoffs is pretty much the only way their coach can cool down his seat.

We need to punch them in the mouth and get up on them early and their fans may actually start to boo their own coach.

Will be interesting to see which TN team shows up. If our offense (meaning Nico and WRs, since Sampson is the GOAT) is actually alive, we will stomp them I think. I dont think they have seen a D like ours in the trenches at least.

Add to it, Day is on thin ice is a distraction for them

At the beginning of the season, though I expected we'd get a bowl, I didn't think about getting into the playoffs. I couldn't be happier that we made it, come what may. I will cheer the Vols until my voice is gone against the Buckeyes (thus irritating my husband's family, who pretty much all went there), but am proud of the team's accomplishments regardless.
