Right. It's so much better to be overlooked than to be built up into something unrealistic and then torn down when you don't live up to the media crafted expectations. Let OSU have the pressure. That's the team that came into this season with the high expectations and the massive payroll for portal players. You’re right on point. But even still, not a single person at the major sports networks has even mentioned this team by name except in the passing to get to some other team to talk about. We’ve been overlooked all season and I also agree with OP that if I’m coaching I’m telling these guys every day that message
It's all so ridiculous. There is a Seinfeld episode where George thinks all women have secret meetings to discuss him and other men. He's constantly convinced people are out to get him. Then there is Uncle Leo who assumes the cool that undercooks his meal is anti-Semite. We have a bunch of George and Leo's up in here.I see it here continually but I've never figured out who this "THEY" is who has it in for UT. Sometimes it's "the call came in from Birmingham" or "Sankey must have gotten the word to the refs" or "the NCAA would never let...." or now "the committee is obviously biased against us."
It's a "whack-a-mole" of people who so obviously do nothing but hate on UT and stack everything against us.
It's nuts trying to keep up with who is "the bad guy who is pulling the strings" every week.

Apples to apples, OSU and we lost 2 reg season and those teams along with SMu lost one. Georgia had the head to head. OSU beat a team that went to the conference finals, and barely lost to the number one team in that game. We beat Bama who isn’t even in the playoffs and lost to Vandy and Oklahoma. TX took Georgia into OT. We lost by two TDs.Not sure what that has to do with the OP's complaint. Ohio State also lost 2 games.
For that matter, Texas lost two. Penn State lost two. Georgia lost 2.
Are you trying to say 2-loss teams should not host a first round game, and just be glad they made the playoffs at all? I think 8 of the 12 playoff teams lost 2 (or 3) games.
Note, I'm not with the OP, complaining. I'm good with our (very challenging) path to a national title. Just saying, you didn't do anything to invalidate his point.
Go Vols!

Going into the conference games, I had an eyebrow raised with regard to several teams going into the conference championship weekend, but the one I felt had to do the most work was SMU. They simply haven’t played a good enough schedule, and their would be loss would be to a team that just lost at home to an SEC team that isn’t even in the playoffs. They indeed lost to that team.
The way the seeding was done favors a Big 10. Not only do they have 4 in, they have given the advantage to the Big 10 by sending Tennessee to OSU and SMU to Penn State. OSU and Penn State should be playing each other in Columbus. Indiana should be playing in TN, SMU should be playing at TX, and ND should be playing at Clemson.
How did we get disrespected? We should be hosting a game in Knoxville against Ohio State. We got absolutely disrespected. This should motivate Tennessee to crush Ohio state. If I’m Heupel I’m making it known to the team the disrespect our university received. And it’s time to make them pay for that disrespect, don’t even make this game close. Just beat the ever loving **** out of this team. Hit them hard, make them feel it. Make them feel the disrespect.
And we lost to a 6-6 Arkansas team. We also were 1-1 against teams that finished the final poll ranked. OSU was 2-1 against final poll ranked team.We had the same record as Ohio State navigating an SEC schedule. If you can’t see the disrespect there that we’re an SEC school with the same record as a big ten school that just lost to a 6-5 Michigan team they were a 3 score favorite—AT HOME—and can’t see the disrespect—you’re not intelligent or paying attention.
I am sorry you dont understand how the seeding works.Apples to apples, OSU and we lost 2 reg season and those teams along with SMu lost one. Georgia had the head to head. No, we shouldn't be hosting a game. We weren't disrespected; we were selected. But we barely got in, remember? We were not in control of our own destiny wrt the playoffs. We lost ugly to Arkansas, and down the stretch, most of our wins were unconvincing. We were very inconsistent, and our awe-inspiring defense disappeared along with our Heisman-worthy QB. Heck, even the bread-and-buter of our offense--Dylan Sampson--is nowhere near the Heisman discussion. All the teams above us showed flashes of brilliance more consistently than we did. So no, we should not be whining about having to travel to OSU. If we had taken care of business at Arkansas as we were expected to do, we would be hosting. Great teams don't lose to Arkansas. We should be hosting a game in Knoxville against Ohio State. We got absolutely disrespected. This should motivate Tennessee to crush Ohio state. How is it bias? The reality is that no one cares to see Tennessee succeed but us. Whether decision makers for college football want others to succeed is difficult to prove.
Let’s face it, many of us stayed up last night hoping to see something that kept Bama from the playoffs. While not conspiring, we shared our grievances in hopes that our cumulative opinions would somehow reach the committee.
I am without certain that everyone vying for a home playoff spot have done the same towards the Vols. As to why the committee chose in favor of others is nothing other than bias and pick your criteria to support the decisions. Unfortunately, that’s as fair as this committee has been willing to provide.
Because ND did not lose 2 games and we did. Not being held over our heads, it is a fact. We did lose 2 games and one was to Arkansas a 6-6 team. Northern Illinois is 7-5.Why is the loss to Arky, an SEC team we played on the road at night, being held over our heads and NDs home loss to Northern Illinois essentially forgiven? Don't get that.
Their votes amount to nothing more than personal opinions. This is nothing but bias. That does not show bias. They take the information available and make a decision. Again, how does that show bias?
