Do any of you fools realize

Okay, so why did we beat South Carolina? Was it pure magical luck? That's a stupid arguement. I'm sick of people not giving anyone time. If he was a bad coach we wouldn't have one an SEC game this year. Maybe this time next year fans can analyze his coaching ability but not now. It's much too soon.

You ask a good question. After we nearly beat Ga and finding a way to beat SCar, I was certain the was the right guy. We looked like an improving team, a better team and you had to think we were in our way.

Since then, we have looked absolutely awful, unable to remotely compete with anybody who's worth a damn... not win, just compete so that we're not an embarrassment.

We finally get a break, Vandy at home, and 2 weeks to prepare. Vandy was clearly the better team and if they hadn't laid the ball on the ground in the red zone twice, they win last night going away.

Our feckless coaching showed time and again last night, unable to take advantage of Vandy's poor play, allowing a 70 yard kick return, unable to complete a single pass beyond 5 yards until the last useless drive. It finally culminated in giving up a 12 play, 92 yd drive to .... Vander-freaking-bilt....when the game was on the line. Playing cover 2 on the Matthews 25 yd catch that set up the last TD. Btw, that last TD was scored by a freshman QB. How'd our freshman QB look last night?

What sickens me the most about this is the idea that Juwaun James was high fiving players in the locker room after the game saying how hard they played, they just got a few bad breaks... "We just need to keep our chin up bc we have one more game to play as team 117". This mentality of apathy towards losing makes me sick as a Tennessee fan. These players are so used to losing that it has become normal. Folks, that is bad. Ya know, I saw Greg King on the sideline at the end of the game... This kid has been at UT for 5 years and still can't sniff the field! Occupying a roster spot that long while adding very little value is why UT is where it is. Didn't we beat out Miami for this guy? Also, what about Woody Quinn? Where's his butt been all year? No production from our players what so ever.

James was high-fiving players? The way he explained it in the post game presser was he went around and shook everyone's hand because everyone was so down and he wanted everyone to come together. He said they have one more week with team 117 and with each other and with the coaches, to go out and try to get a win.

That Tennessee was one bad call. One bad call away from winning this damn football game? So if we had won we would be 5-6 going into an easy win Kentucky game and a chance to go bowling. I can almost guarantee it that this site would be completely different had we won the game. There would be no "fire Butch" threads and all that garbage. You people seriously live in the moment so much. Look at the big picture, we suck. It's not Butch's fault we suck, it's his predecessors, and he almost had us to a bowl game this year. Do not give me all that ignorant garbage about how Butch is a terrible coach, that's horse ****. He's been the coach for not even a damn year. Give the man time and let him and his coaches get some recruits in here that fit their system. He's gotta trim the fat off of this team first. A lot of us have a superiority complex where we think we should still be instantly good every year no matter what. I hate to break it to you but it's not 1998 anymore. We are different now and we still have a long road to recovery. Give Butch a chance, put away the Jack, and go to sleep.

Tye BIG PICTURE is we suck, players suck and THE COACHES suck!

Yes and the discussion centers around whether the defective ingredient is coaching staff, players, or both.

Coaching last night was terrible. Plain and simple. If you can't or won't stop the opposing offense from running the same play over and over and getting 6 to 9 yards a pop. Vandy ran that naked screen to Matthews on almost every possession from 7 or 8 yards and we couldn't stop it. That's piss poor coaching. No excuses.

What would you have done differently to stop it? I'm curious. :hi:

I love how some people think they can do any better than what this coaching staff is doing, if we would have hired some of y'all we would have won the national championship this year right?

I've seen people confuse to and too, there and their. It's understandable.

I've never seen someone jibber jabber so much about how stupid other people are and then confuse One with Won.

Matthews should have had two players on him at all times. that would have been a good start.

Can you elaborate? Would you bring a safety up to line of scrimmage?

I'm pretty sure the safety had responsibilities on him many times and was late making the play more times than not.

And this is where you don't get it. It shouldn't have come down to a bad call. As many times as Candy turned the ball over and as well as the D played most of the game. The offense should have been able to put points on the board. They didn't. Butch had two weeks to get a game plan prepared. And the QB looked utterly clueless.

Did any of the people who keep screaming play power football notice? We lined up with a fullback in the power I on several plays and got stuffed every time. We have an offensive line who can't open up holes.
Read option is our best bet because we haven't been able to line up and push any defensive line off the ball at all.
Yes. This is the call that cost us the game IMO. We were moving the ball on that last drive with the zone read, then for some reason swiched to a power I on 3rd and short. If we pick up the 1st right there, we run out the clock.

I keep saying that play killed us. Did we really line up in the I on that play? I don't remember that. Crazy.

It was an upset; I think given what we've seen, it leans more to the "fluke" side than it does the "normal".

BS. Try to imagine a Dooley team winning that game without Bray CP and Hunter. Team showed good fight in that game and Uga. Not sure what happened the last month but if Butch could lead team to usce win he can do same in future.

Butch Jones is in way over his head so far. At least Dooley went to a bowl his first yr. with this same offensive line as all freshmen. Dooley's biggest blowout was against Cincinnati and Butch.

Once again, we don't make a stupid personal foul (i.e. GA) on the last drive, we may not be having this thread. The 4th down was a good call. The Pig incomplete was complete BS. Otherwise, we had plenty of opportunity to win the damn game without it coming down to a last minute drive.

This is like the democrats defending Obama saying that the economic downturn was Bush's fault, and then the republicans who turn right around and blame the Clinton administration for implementing the policies that created the sub-prime mortgage crisis. The fact is that someone has to actually take charge and manage the situation at present, rather than kicking the can further down the road while pointing back to your predecessors to lay all of the blame for your shortcomings. Saying that Butch Jones did a bad job of coaching this year isn't jumping to conclusions, or calling for his head. You are what your record says you are. 4-7 (1-6) doesn't mean you are a bad coach. It means you are a coach who did a bad job this season. Jones clearly defined his goals as winning six games. He made no bones about it. The fan base didn't set the bar. He did. He got paid more this year than most of us will in 20 years. He is in a high leverage position, and when he doesn't meet the goal that he created, it doesn't make you a bad fan, or someone jumping off the bandwagon, or a fool for pointing out that the accountability lies with the head coach who failed to meet the standard that he himself set. I don't know if some of you were brought up in the "everyone gets a trophy" generation, or in the generations prior where trophies were actually won, and your never winning caused you to help create the "everyone gets a trophy" society that we live in today, but accountabiltiy is a wonderful thing. Jones evaluated his talent, scheme, staff, and schedule, and said the goal is six wins. He did not succeed. Do I want him fired? No. Will he succeed in the future? I hope so. Did I pay money to the University this year for the privilege of watching games at Neyland? Yes. Will I in the future? Yes. After paying to watch the last several years of futility, it is my opinion that this coaching staff's goals were not met due to their own poor performance, but it is still great to be a Tennessee Volunteer.

Why do some of you keep complaining about Vandy running the same play? It doesn't matter if they ran it every damn play. We only gave up 14 points which was the least they have scored this year. Any defensive coordinator in the country would let them keep running it because they weren't scoring with it. Would you have liked us to walk up on the line and let Matthews beat us deep for about 35 points? Stupid stupid stupid !!!!

We lost because the four senior and one junior offensive lineman can't push any team off the ball. When North got hurt we had no deep threat or break away reciver. It was then on the line who failed.

Hey guys, once again, give the man time. We picked up two big recruits today and there is no reason to be calling for his head or deeming Butch a bad coach yet.

Which bad call? Vandy got that first down if that is what you are referring to.

Thank you! I said that all along. Some of these delusional idiots on here refuse to see reality. After the play it was easy to see the ref made a bad spot.
