Before the GA game I would have given the Vols a 10%. After Saturday I give them 50/50 shot. Butch and staff showed me something Saturday.

We'll probably be a 11-13pt underdog, but if we play like we did in the 2nd half against Georgia, we have a shot.
Would love to end our 0-19 against ranked teams and not make it 0-20

Worley will have to play the way he did in the 2nd half against Georgia for us to even have a chance

I thing SC's defense looks weak, and their hearts pump baby ****!! What worries me the most is M. Davis and the early kickoff.

John Brice of Volquest.com made an interesting observation about South Carolina on the Butch Jones Show Sunday. He pointed out that the Chicken Nation has struggled mightily on defense in the fourth quarter, therein surrendering copious amounts of points. This undoubtedly will not be lost on Butch Jones' coaching staff. Look for them to really push the tempo in the fourth quarter and try to wear out the Gamecocks with their physicality and conditioning.

Fans effort + teams effort = yes!
I am putting off building on my house to attend this game. Sorry Bob, I'm out. (see my other thread).

If they show up like they did against Georgia there is no way that South Carolina keeps with us. Their defense will show up, but I think our receivers will show up and have huge games. I reckon Pig will show up big time and get have over 10 receptions and over 100 yards.

I like Brice, but man that guy needs to do something with his hair. I watched the Butch Jones show and he looks like a slob

1. i am not sure tennessee can play at that level in two consecutive games.

2. they have got a beast a tailback that few are paying attention to and tennessee has real problems with a running qb.

if they can keep shaw from killing them with his legs, tennessee can certainly win.

....

I think there is a very good chance, but I think in order to win the game has to be low scoring. Somewhere around 21 17. I still dont think our offense can put together 4 td drives against top SEC defenses. I hope im wrong tho GOVOLS

We were only a 10 point dog to UGA, BEFORE our showing against UGA.

Tennessee can most certainly win against SCAR. All it takes is a few breaks to go their way honestly. It wouldnt suprise me a bit to see something like 24-20 as a final score. Good luck fellas.

Offensively we are still only scoring in the low 20s. Can the defense or special teams get us another score will be key. Otherwise I don't see much of a chance. I don't think we can hold SC down in points.

I watch USCe with my father every week because he is an alum. They only have 1 deep threat in Byrd and they will run, run, run, play pass deep. That,s it. Their back Davis is legit, we stop him. We win the ball game. Also their WR core is very small and i think our DB's will not have a problem in coverage. That's just my take. And notice I didn't say anything about Clowney, he will be a non factor...... if he plays.

1. If the game was this week Id agree. UT having an off week nulifies that IMO.

2. Is a legit concern. If UT can man up on the WRs and focus more on the run they should be able to compete.

Unless USCs D flips a switch they got some issues as well.

Im starting think UF has an outside shot at the east and will finish ahead of USC in 2nd.

The game sets up well for UT.

1. Coming off a positive performance.
2. Heading into an extra week of practice and prep with those positives. Extra time to heal up.
3. USC seems to be having some issues on D. and they will be coming off a road trip to Arky.
4. Games at home.

Its time to take that full step and win a real game. We will see if we are ready to do that. No reason we shouldnt be right in the middle of this one.

Agree.

I have an unusually good feeling about the this SC game, that our program finally has the coaching and confidence to go beat an opponent who looks better on paper.

I think there is a really good chance that a few years from now we'll look back on that Georgia game and say that despite the loss, that was the day that Tennessee football came back. And unfortunately for SC they were the next in line.... :devilsmoke:

I completely agree. He truly must work hard to make his hair look that bad, and he wears that "style" every week.

In the words of Si Robertson, "Nah"

Lol! Great reference. I think USC is reeling right now and ready to be had. High strung, and sometimes drunk, coaches, the star of the team that won't gut it out and a QB who is a star himself but often feels he has to do it all. Unless UT let's Mike Davis run all over them, I think UT wins.

i didn't mean to suggest tennessee will not play with the same fight or passion.

what i was trying to convey is that tennessee played the best all around football game i have seen since 2009 georgia and south carolina. so, what are the odds tennessee plays that complete a football game in two consecutive games?

it's great to know that what they accomplished last saturday is possible. now, can they go out and play that way again? i don't know. we'll see.

with regard to florida, i believe if they can put up 27 points in their remaining sec games, they will win the east. the question is will they put up that kind of point total. i don't know. but, i believe 27 is the magic number. 27 with that defense is going to win most of these games.

Worley and everybody else will have to play as well and as hard as they did against georgia, if not more so. I can't say that I'm entirely optimistic, but there's a chance.

I think we definitely CAN but I want to be realistic. South Carolina is at a different level talent wise and have players that have played in the same system for a long while. UT got several breaks in the UGA game. That's not to minimize the team making those breaks though, they played balls out to get them.
