Do we beat south carolina..

i didn't mean to suggest tennessee will not play with the same fight or passion.

what i was trying to convey is that tennessee played the best all around football game i have seen since 2009 georgia and south carolina. so, what are the odds tennessee plays that complete a football game in two consecutive games?

it's great to know that what they accomplished last saturday is possible. now, can they go out and play that way again? i don't know. we'll see.

with regard to florida, i believe if they can put up 27 points in their remaining sec games, they will win the east. the question is will they put up that kind of point total. i don't know. but, i believe 27 is the magic number. 27 with that defense is going to win most of these games.

Its the million dollar question. If Butch "gets it" you'll see a well prepared team take the field next week, that has used the positives from UGA and took another step. Im not gonna lie, a good portion of my optimism lies more with USC coming off a road game and they seem to be having some internal issues. There may not be anything to that, and they may come out and play a sound football game and win by 2 tds. But at this point Im not leaning that way.

Murphy (if he continues to play as well as he is) gives UF a shot at the east, I didn't think they had previously. With UGA banged up it really opens the door.

If we play with the fire and attitude we did saturday its possible we could win this gm. It all depends on which TN team shows up. The team from the GA game or the team from the S.Alabama gm. GO VOLS!

I'm betting a team we haven't seen before! A team that will improve from GA loss and a team that WILL beat SC!!

Yes

1. Extra week of rest: Butch took them out of pads for GA week because team was banged up. Good chance of getting the team a little rest and feeling healthy.
2. Home Field Advantage: Fan base will show up after GA game. Fans cheering team after GA game was a huge motivator for our team. When the team knows fans are behind them they will have an extra spring to their step.
3. More open play book, more wrinkles to the offense. We have more time to install more plays given 2 weeks of prep. Like coach Jones approach of executing every play. Confidence to put in the plays follows being able to execute in practice
4. More confidence by Worley. Offensive line is playing at a high level and giving Worley a chance to stand in there and step into his throws. Team is gaining confidence in Worley and wants to see him do well.
5. Team is more confident. Time and time again in post game interviews heard "we showed we can play with anyone in the country'. That confidence was built by demonstrating they can execute on all levels, special teams, defense, offense. Love Butches approach to not bring down his players. If this was Dooley he would be complaining about how the players aren't there yet, we aren't ready, and dinging key players.
6. Discipline. This team is disciplined. Something I noted in some interview of players that was very small, and not sure anyone noticed. Have you noticed that they have the top button on their shirts buttoned and so does Jones? A very small thing and may sound stupid, but it is the little little details that is the difference in execution and starts with the small things. Go ahead and make fun of me for that observation about the button on their shirts, but this team is way more disciplined and buying in than say the later Fulmer teams.
7. Fans and team are hungry. UT is tired of being kicked around and has something to prove.

We need this win and fear that if we do not pull this one out it could be detrimental to the rest of the season.

watching replay of USC / KY game. KY did well using screens, dump offs for short yardage, and a lot underneath with no real down field threat. That plays well to our O.

Good post! I agree we need this one because if we lose, the performance at the uga game doesn't mean much but if we win the uga game is seen as THE turning point.

Great point about UGA game could be THE turning point. IF we win, then I believe the level of play will be there the remainder of the season.

Watching the UK/USC replay and one thing that concerns me about USCe is how often Connor Shaw runs the ball. Then they put in a wild cat (pardon the pun) formation.

Missouri is a team it is difficult to know how good they really are because they really haven't played much of anybody yet.

I think we have a chance. But I have a suspicion that Clowney wants to make an example of Tiny. And considering that Tiny has not been having a good year it could get embarrassing with a hesitant quarterback like Worley. I am also not sure we can stop Davis unless our tackling gets better in the next couple of weeks.

The bigger question is will Clowney play in this game and if Neal gets over 100 yards rushing in this game, the answer is yes.

We have a real chance, I'm confident. But, we could still lose. I really don't wanna see a ton of negativity on here if we don't because like someone else in this thread has already said, we've played 1/2 of good football all year....let's hope they've turned a corner but "rise to the top" is more than just a slogan...it's a process too. No matter what happens in the Carolina game, we need to show this team the support they deserve!

If Shaw runs with success we have no chance. Contain him and it's going to be close.

Clowney as amazing as he is and can be ....can be contained. Several teams this year have done a good job of limiting his impact on the game. When you run left let him come upfield because he likes to outside rush and when he does it leaves gaping holes up the inside on counters and misdirections but obviously if he bullrushes you are looking at a negative play. On passing plays just make sure you get some extra help because one guy isn't going to block him for long. Georgia also played the game going mostly right vs USC and kept him frustrated. Good luck this weekend. The East is better when UT is a good football team. The East needs to rise up and beat the West. :)

Out of 6 games played this year only one of them makes anyone think we can beat USCe. I'll still have to see it to believe it. We are definitely headed in the right direction but its too premature to think UT has turned the corner yet.

I think our offense will have to score more than 30 points to win this game and I'm not sold yet that we can consistently do that against the better SEC teams.

I'm not a Spurrier hater, and I respect what he's done for the gamecock program. But those guys peaked a couple of years ago, and there's plenty of proof that their downward trajectory has begun. USC won't go quietly, but they'll go nonetheless.

Our guys will be confident and rested. The home fans will be equally confident and rested...and HUNGRY. We fans are past ready to unload our full force on somebody who has a streak on us.

Mark it down - we WILL take down the HBC next week. The new order in the SEC East will continue it's development. And more of cfb will take notice.

Nope! Sorry koolaid drinkers! Tennessee showed some positive things against Georgia but they don't win this game. Prepare to be dispappointed!

to me, it all depends on what worley shows up. if the worley shows up from the second half of uga, i say yes.

also wouldn't hurt if arkansas took them to the wire this week and lost.

Hopeful but it's gonna be difficult. SEC's rushing leader, a tough, gutty dual threat QB with like a 21-4 record as a starter ....on a very good team.

We can this game I think, but it's gonna take an excellent effort, mistake free football.

It all comes down to stopping Shaw and Davis. I honestly think that SC's D is reeling bad this year. I would like to see us use Brewer and possibly get JRM to spy Shaw. He is one tough SOB.

SC is the only team left that is still unsure if they can beat the Orange regardless of how good we are. Sorta like us and Bama in the 80's and early 90's.
