Do we beat south carolina..

Worley has to play mistake free football.

They have to contain Davis and Shaw running the ball. Davis has put up better stats than Lattimore.

They need a break on special teams or turnovers that leads to points.

USC has a lot more experience on defense than Georgia and, knowing the Vols luck, Clowney will decide to show up and have a monster game.

I just don't see it happening.

Clowney will get his arse planted through the ground all game long.

i didn't mean to suggest tennessee will not play with the same fight or passion.

what i was trying to convey is that tennessee played the best all around football game i have seen since 2009 georgia and south carolina. so, what are the odds tennessee plays that complete a football game in two consecutive games?

it's great to know that what they accomplished last saturday is possible. now, can they go out and play that way again? i don't know. we'll see.

I understood.. but the other way to look at it .. maybe TN didnt just play the best all around game they can.. maybe they finally played up to their potential and its not that big of a stretch to match that level.

. . . or to surpass that performance level, given the youth of this team at the skilled positions and the number of people who missed the Georgia game due to injuries. It is entirely possible that Justin Worley and the young receiving corps are just beginning to scratch the surface of their potential.

On the Butch Jones Show last Sunday, there was a brief segment about Justin in which he said that he ultimately chose between LSU, Notre Dame and Tennessee. Not a bad groups of finalists.

Sapp or another LB will have to spy on Shaw this game...if not
he will keep the chains moving on those 3rd and medium and 3rd and longs...

I Would love to see JRM in the game for this type role...

Great observation. JRM was an absolute beast on special teams against UGA. Their return game was kept well under control. I would love to see him play with that kind of inTensity on defense.

i don't think we should tear down the goal posts against uscjr., if we can win it.

Will there be an ESPN camera on the goalpost? If so, I say tear the post down and throw it in the river... just like old times. Even better if it were a CBS camera. :)

But, no. Generally speaking, I think we should avoid looking to pleased to be South Carolina.

I live in South Carolina and I am tired of all these Gamecock fans talking about how bad Tennessee sucks. In 2 weeks, I have no doubt I will be telling them how bad they suck. 42-28 Vols GBO

Vols should be rested, motivated and mad. I expect a slobber knocker. Lights out game. I think TN kicks ass.

If USC plays their a game probably not. The Vols need another Georgia game and cant return to south Alabama form.

Sure we can win. Will we?? Who knows until the game is played. Anything can happen. Heck many on this team remember last year and how they took them to the wire. Came back from a 21-7 halftime score, and had that fight in them.

The one thing that I was glad to see is how Worley played with more confidence vs UGA, and CBJ putting his faith in him. This will be helpful for sure. He schooled Clowney in HS so I'm not to worried he will be intimidated by him. I hope he plays versus us though cause its tough to build long term faith on the team when we win a game where their top weapon(s) are out the whole game.

GBO!!

hopefully clowney sits out this game like the uk game. if he plays, ut can run to the other side and wear him out---he's not in good shape.

I think we can win if we play like we did against Georgia. And it would be really cool if the fans started a cheer of "Pig, Pig, Pig" either right before kickoff or when he touches the ball. You know he feels bad and it would probably help his confidence knowing we support him.

we know that Tiny and company can hold Clowney down, now if they can do it with the new coaches is to be determined yet and hopefully he is stil protecting his future :)
UTs special teams have been doing a fine job so far this year and I don 't expect them to stop now, kick em
Palardy lol

and for those that think CSS won't have that team ready to go,I will have to sadly disagree,The Ole Football Coach does know how to fire a team up

but,so it seems CBJ does too, keeping there QB contained and the RBs is going to be the key to victory for the Vols, lets see some good D play and it could happen

Go Vols

We need to score at least 30 points against USCe.

The LBs need to contain Shaw when he attempts to run the ball.

Rajion Neal needs another big running game.

Worley needs another interception-free game.

If Kentucky can keep USCe within 7 points...

Tennessee can whip dey azz

Last few days Clowney has been fairly well beat up in the media for not playing up to expectations. Clowney has been playing injured, and reinjured in practice on Wed.

Clowney Committed to Carolina - South Carolina Official Athletic Site

C.O.C.K.S got the Razorbacks this Sat. If he's well by the time they come to Knoxville, I expect him to be trying to regain some of the recruiting stock he's lost and Tiny will have to put up a career game. He can do it.

If Kentucky could keep it close with South Carolina, then surely to goodness we can keep it close with them at Neyland Stadium. Go Vols!

I don't think we'll beat them. The whole season, I've only seen us play one half of football that would lead me to think that we would be able to. Right now, you would have to think that half is the exception, not the rule.

But, I hope I'm wrong. It's pretty crucial that we do beat them, since this will probably be the last chance this season that Butch has to win a real "statement game" and really show that he can coach up his team to compete with a well-coached talented top 15 SEC football team.
