Do you like Counzo Martin hire?

I remember it being worse when dooley was hired. Counzo's record the last couple years I believe makes this hire look better on paper than dooley's hire. I think dooley did real good considering it was his first year here and the shape the program was in when he arrived. I hope coach Martin can do that too.

I now live in the southeast missouri area and have watched Missouri State all year. I do not believe Coach Martin will attract SEC talent, or be able to coach at the highest level. I hope I am wrong but I think this was a terrible mistake.

Good point. At least Martin's teams tend to get better as the years go by as opposed to Dooley's whose got worse.

I'm not bashing you in any way, but the four or five posters that live in the area swear by him. What makes you think differently.

I swear we could hire Timothy McVeigh as a coach and many of you would write the same stuff...

"Great coach, we'll be winning multiple NC's in no time"

"If you don't like him, you hate the vols and Jesus Christ as well"

Not bashing anyone, just think it's funny.

Exactly. It doesn't seem to matter how unqualified a new coach is or how little success they've had in the past. As long as they "want to be here" everyone seems to turn a blind eye to everything else. This hire isn't half as bad as the Dooley hire. Martin's teams did get better as time went on, but I have doubts about him being able to recruit well enough to remain competitive in the SEC.

The same could be said for all the negative crap people have said tonight.

"Well, back to mediocrity"

"No way we'll ever be successful with this hire"

"Say goodbye to Tennessee B-Ball relevance"

Anyone short of Bill Self or Phil Jackson and everyone loses their sh*t thinking we will never win ever again. You can't please everyone.

Just like the Dooley hire, there isn't a great track record of success. He's never taken a team to the NCAA tourney, so clearly that's going to leave some people scratching their heads.

No. Time will tell whether or not this was a good hire, but I think it will be Buzz Ball 2.0

Don't mean to be a pessimist, but if Martin was so good,
1. Why is he at Missouri St?
2. Why didn't one of the other 'Big' schools land him before us?

Agree. Too many sheep not willing to hold this administration accountable. Those who just accept what Cheek and Hamilton are doing are like the blind being led by the blind...
