He is much better than the trash that was rumored to go to ARK...now rumored to come to us.

Call it what you want, but their AD sold the program up. Much more than a Strong to UT hire.

You just have to have an actual salesman for an AD. Hamilton was obviously trash at it, and if Hart hires Strong he obviously isn't much better.

Saban said no to Bama 4 times...too bad for us they had someone who had the tenacity to make it happen. We all have money, you just have to sell the dream.

I just don't think his style of play will work at Arkansas. I enjoy watching the smash mouth ball when he was a badger though.

Running the ball and playing good defense? He gets in to Texas and recruits, look out. I'm not saying he'll instantly win a NC or anything, but he can fit the mold in the SEC.

Arkansas is located in a good area for recruiting and Bret is relentless.

It's amazing how delusional our fan base is period. Some think we can just get anybody & money grows on trees. Same ones who wanted Fulmer gone with no gameplan beyond firing him only to see nobody wanted the job. Maybe partly to the way Fulmer was done & overall it only dug us a deeper hole. Now the same ones are experts & because we haven't announced their "homerun" hire our AD is an idiot & all the coaches that are in the running aren't any good. Some people aren't gonna be happy no matter what you do, it's a fact of life. I'm sure they have all had to make decisions like this that determine the fate of a major football program, their own career, a delusional fanbase, all with millions of dollars on the line. Easy as pie.

I don't think any of where I'm thinking this is going has a damned thing to do with VolNation.

I just have a difficult time believing the big money people are yielding the entire process to Dave Hart. Now if that's the case, I question their desire to win.

The only people I saw "reporing" Gruden to UT were posters on VN and other Vol message boards with so called "sources". Sorry, but I've seen this story
before. I'm not getting my hopes up for any partcular candidate based on message board fodder.

The silliest part is most of the "reporters" who latched onto it were only doing so because feeding the hysteria was driving hits.

If Strong tells the Vols thanks but no thanks, Hart should be fired for botching this entire search. If Strong says no, we have issues at UT. I worry about the future of athletics at our university.

I am just the opposite on this. If strong, bama dave has no desire to upgrade football and the future is 5-7, 6-6, 7-5, and if schedule favorable and occasionally 8-4. strong ceiling in my opinion.
