I watch alot of college football. Couldnt tell ya the names of the RBs for those two teams. But, the award voting has been highly criticized by people because alot of the voters do not watch football. Heisman, Belitnikof, all of it. The entire voting system needs to be revamped. That just makes it sound like you’re the one who doesn’t actually watch college football. Hell, Tennessee played against one of the guys last year.
Most of the people complaining have never seen the others candidates even play...plus, Jeanty ran for nearly 8 ypc, 177 yards vs the consensus #1 team in the country when no one else even reached 100 yds vs the Ducks
If Group of 5 players want to win an award or participate in the playoff then they need to have their own awards separate from Power conferences (ie SEC or Big Ten). The schedules are just nowhere near comparable and the quality of opponent's players sure as heck don’t matchup. There’s a big difference in having bonafide 4 and 5 star defenders that will be first round draft picks coming at you on a weekly basis compared to seeing a bunch of 2 and 3 stars. I’m sorry but I’m not going to give a dude flowers whenever he is dominating a horrible conference. You can have Jeanty. I’ll take Sampson all day every day. I’ve seen him do it against Alabama and I’ve seen him do it against Georgia, the two perennial programs of this recent era. And he’s done it with below average OL play in the best conference in America. It speaks volumes that you think someone saying that a guy who plays football for a team you don’t root for is having an equal or greater year than a guy who plays football for the team you do root for is an attempt to make you miserable.

It's because they really only know about Tennessee, and you are dead on...Like you will hear people saying that South Carolina would crush Penn State or that Ole Miss would go undefeated in the Big 10...just crazy talk. The SEC is clearly the best conference but the gap is way less than people imagine. I think Sagarin has the avg SEC team about 4 points better than the avg Big10 team, 5 points over the Big12, a td compared to the ACCI can’t stand the sec superiority complex. It’s like no teams or players are good anywhere else.
Yeah, the same espn that screwed Peyton manning over , what joke that was …. I haven’t watched heisman presentation since that screw jobI'm assuming these awards are the ones that ESPN hands out? The same ESPN HQ in CT. The sane ESPN in charge of CFP, who routinely coddles the BG10, and same ESPN who went through layoffs last year?
Tennessee, for some reason is going to have to earn that National respect back, from pretender to contender. It's ridiculous that is case. Meatchicken could have an abysmal year and still be in favor in Bristol.
The admiration and respect follows TV markets. It's good for business, which is what this now is.
Perhaps TN needs to market itself better? it's sad that a team that plays and wins in best conference had to work just that much harder, bc of its geographic location.
LFG. Samspon gonna have a party on Sat. Maybe he can change the narrative.
Are they really the best team in the country? They beat Ohio State because their QB pulled a Joe Milton/Nico sliding with no time left on the clock and they only beat Idaho by 10 points. Honestly should have lost to lowly Wisconsin, the team that lost to a 3-loss Alabama team by 4+ TDs. Just because Oregon is undefeated doesn’t mean they are the best team. Ohio State will beat them on a neutral field. The dude played against the best team in the country and put up almost 2 bills and had 3 tds. He’s done it every game.
That same Ohio State team that struggled to beat a Nebraska team that Indiana just beat by 6-7 TD's the week before? That team? Are they really the best team in the country? Again, if you do know their names despite the fact we played against last year, it is really hard for you to say the voting is done by people who don’t watch football. There are always 3 finalists, and if Sampson had been one of them, you still wouldn’t know the name of the other guy. How does that make your opinion valid at all?I watch alot of college football. Ironically that below average offensive line you’re bashing is a semifinalist for Best Offensive Line in the country. So in the opinions of some, it’s a top 10 offensive line.If Group of 5 players want to win an award or participate in the playoff then they need to have their own awards separate from Power conferences (ie SEC or Big Ten). Nice job picking out the very few exceptions to the rule. Go down the list of every best player at their position in the NFL and probably 85% of them played at a big school.Ironically that below average offensive line you’re bashing is a semifinalist for Best Offensive Line in the country. Funny you’d mention first round draft picks, because Jeanty will certainly be one. Also two of the top 8 leaders in rushing yards in the NFL this year played at Memphis and UTEP. The number 2 rusher of all time played at Jackson State. The NFL is littered with guys who didn’t play in a Power conference. But those guys couldn’t play in the SEC. Hell, even when they face a significantly more talented team and put up gaudy numbers, it still doesn’t really count unless it’s a SEC team.
Well you don’t even consider Oregon a good enough school, for one. My point is though is that there are plenty of guys who don’t play in the SEC, but very well could be great in the SEC, including guys from small schools. One of our best players this year even played at Oregon State. We have started a walk on all year at safety. The best defense in the NFL starts a white guy from MTSU in their secondary. Last year the best RB in the conference came from a D2 school and went to one of the worst recruiting teams in the SEC. Even had a historic day against Tennessee.Nice job picking out the very few exceptions to the rule. Louisville is in the ACC and Lamar played whenever Clemson was winning national championships and Texas Tech is in the Big 12 and Mahomes played whenever Oklahoma was making 4 team playoffs. Allen is the only one of the 3 that played at a small school. Try again fella.Lamar Jackson? Josh Allen? Mahomes? There’s infinitely more but just a couple schools you would frown upon.

No I just frown upon Group of 5 schools and the current iteration of the Big 12 being included in all this. I respected the Big 12 whenever Texas and Oklahoma were there but now it’s relegated to Group of 5 status. So it’s really the Power 3 at this point and the 3rd conference is on the verge of imploding so it will eventually be the Power 2. I’m not going to apologize for the SEC and Big Ten playing a better quality of football than the rest of the country. If Jeanty were putting up these stats vs the Big Ten or SEC then heck yeah I would be giving him his flowers but not whenever he is playing against scrubs. Sorry, not sorry. That’s like going on Madden and turning all the sliders into your favor so you can score 70 points per game. What he is doing is not impressive to me.You seem to frown upon anything not sec. There’s an infinite list that goes against your narrative.

That’s only one game. And we aren’t really even sure if Oregon is the best team. They only beat Ohio State by 1 at home. I don’t think they will win on a neutral field. Let’s see Jeanty do that over the course of 8 games against quality competition and see how he does. It’s easy to have a great game against one of these top teams but do it over an entire season. And don’t go trying to say he can only play whoever is on his schedule. No, no, no. These kids can transfer whenever they want and he could have gone to a bigger program but chose to stay and pad his stats. He put up those numbers against the best team in the big 10, actually the #1 team in the country. The dude is legit. Maybe Sampson should have gotten an invite but the award has already been given.
