Yes, he felt pressured by the media and fans to make a switch (not saying that is the only fact or reason, if that's what you are insinuating).
just heard an espn analyst who played in the nfl say the Jets' qb Geno Smith's development was held back by the lack of wr's on the Jets roster.
That's a 23 yr old nfl qb, beating nfl teams, and his progress being held up due to lack of receivers, who are actually pro receivers.
Yet it still has to be explained here that an 18 yr old in a new system throwing to other 18 yr old wr's being covered by nfl db's was a major issue, among others, in the passing game.

This is the correct answer.No. He felt pressure to make a switch because Worley was struggling to be efficient and effective running the offense, was struggling with his accuracy throwing the ball and he absolutely refused to run the ball. Given that Worley never put a great amount of distance between himself, Peterman and the freshmen, Butch rolled the dice and went with Peterman, who it was thought was more athletic, to give the team a shot in the arm. It obviously didn't work out. But there's no way Butch read the Knoxville News Sentinel or read VolNation and decided to make a change at QB. I refuse to believe that happened.

We had three QBs, all of varying but little experience, all working under a new staff and system, all eventually playing through injury, and all who struggled mightily. We had a fourth that never saw the field due to injury. They were all highly rated recruits. I trust that they will all work hard to improve during the offseason-- physically, mentally and in knowledge of the system. I believe we will have several very good options at the position, and that the staff will recognize and start the best option. I will support whichever option that is, and remain excited about the possibilities. The bickering and attacks on our players is childish and really would be better if everyone just stopped.
Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just noticed this in an interview with Coach Jones by the AJC earlier this week:
Q&A with Tennessee coach Butch Jones | College recruiting blog
That's about 20 lbs of muscle he's put on since the end of the season. He's getting close to Tee's size when he was our QB (not to compare the two yet).
He developed Crompton. Without Kiffin Crompton would not have even sniffed a roster
Could you not make the same argument for Worley? How come Dobbs gets to us the "no receivers in a new system" argument but Worley cant. It was his first year in the system too. Why does Dobbs get a pass but Worley doesnt? Because he was a junior? Even though you just said a 23 year old NFL qb struggled because he has no receivers in the NFL is getting a pass.
Eli Manning has two super bowl rings because of miracle catches. No one discredits him for it. It doesnt matter what you say, the fact is he was the starting qb when beat a top 5 team. He took care of the ball, made the throws he had to make when it mattered most and the game was on the line. Have you forgotten how awful our offense looked when he got hurt? 10 points and 50 passing yards against Vandy is a lot more Helen Keller imo.
Youre argument is based on what MIGHT have happened, mine is based on something that did happen.
How do you know this for sure? What else is in your crystal ball? Remember how bad Jon Crompton looked his Jr year? Remember his senior year when he looked like a completely different qb and got himself drafted? Why cant Worley make the same progression?
