He was reported to have had a few rough practices all camp long. Folks like you look at those few reports and assume that means he sucks and out of the race for the job. Not true at all.

After all, it was folks like you that were riding Peterman's back since the UF game last year. Now that he's made some strides, you act you knew he'd be ok all along. :loco: Yeah, sure

Dude, put the bottle down for the night.

Actually, I've been saying all along that he just needs time to adjust to the speed of the game...like Dobbs, and he'll come around. Never said he'd be the starter or anything, but I never considered him "done" (and should transfer) like 98% of VN.

Knee-jerk reactions seem to be the norm for this board. UF had the best defense in the country at that point in the season. And they would make any QB look bad, let alone a redshirt freshman thrown in for his 1st start...especially in the Swamp.

Worley didn't fare much better, either, the rest of the game.

...for this offense to really thrive. Under normal circumstances, I'd go with seniority/experience....and thus Worley, but Dobbs lets this offense open up, full-throttle.

Was reading this article, by Fox Sports, about Freshmen who could contend for the Heisman.
Cory McCartney: Frosh Perspective: First-year players that could vie for Heisman Trophy | FOX Sports

LSU's Fournette was one of them; Hurd was another. But the problem here is, not only do we have a new front 5 on the OL, but playing Worley allows defenses to really key in on Hurd.

Dobbs is our best chance to keep defenses honest, off balance and always guessing. So, if all things are relatively equal among the QB's, in the passing game....Dobbs has to be the starter.

The way I look at it is this...Dobbs, hands down, looked the best in the Spring. Did he separate himself in practice, before that? Probably not. But, again, in a game environment, he easily looked the best. Give him the starting nod, and if he struggles a lot, then you can put Worley or Peterman in.

Worley is the man. He lost the job due to injury and Dobbs didn't play well enough to knock him out of the starting position. It's been Worley's to lose and apparently he's doing good enough to hang on to it. If Dobbs is fairly close to Worley, I'd rather them go with Dobbs for the long term, but it appears that's not the case.

Read more carefully, please. I said in the first post, that IF ALL THINGS BEING RELATIVELY EQUAL IN THE PASSING GAME....

Yeah...that's a big laugh, cause we all know that having a mobile QB NEVER makes it tougher on defenses (to have to defend the QB, too). Nick Marshall had 200+yds on us, just as a runner...last year. Just for a little perspective...ANYONE having 200+ yds on the ground is having a HELL of a game. It means between the TB and him, we had no answer. Put an average pocket passer under center, at Auburn, last year, and we likely come away with a win.

But that doesn't mean anything.

I understand what OP means. In this offense, a mobile qb is crucial. However, I still believe Worley gives us the best shot of winning.

I like a mobile qb as much as anyone but Dobbs isn't close to as good passing wise as Worley or even peterman. His arm strength is terrible and he's no Tim Tebow running the ball so job is Worleys.

Did I miss the game where Dobbs showed he has the speed to make a defense respect his running ability? Marshall is a terrible comparison. Marshall is faster than Dobbs

Legend, I agree with you about Dobbs. I was watching the scrimmage vidoes this week and he seems to have an odd delivery when throwing the ball. The ball just doesn't SNAP off the fingers like it does with Peterman. It doesn't look major, and maybe a mechanical adjustment can be made to fix it. Whoever it is needs to get that ball toward the sidelines in a hurry or it'll be a pick 6. Can't wait till gametime!!!:salute:

Age, physical and mental maturity are huge markers in college. Worley will get the nod with Peterman getting reps. Once Dobbs is at full development, he will be the best of the three.

Dobbs looked good in the spring game. Dobbs also didn't play against the 1's in the spring game..

If Dobbs gets 3rd string expect him to get redshirted this year to save year of eligibility.
