Does Chandler really cut it as a PG

Take care, bro. Kennedy sends you his best. ✌️

17 points
5 boards
6 assists
2 steals
Zero turn overs
4-4 from the line

Some folks spout off with merely an opinion. In this case their opinion of Chandler and what “makes” a good PG……….then refuse back up what they once said when challenged.

Fallacy - Chandler isn’t playing like the #1 pg. simply saying it……..doesn’t make it true. Trying to cherry pick two stats alone also doesn’t make it true. Heck you and I both asked the next logical question: “then who is.”

The information was provided……..there simply isn’t a legit rebuttal. Once can certainly make an argument, but there just “isn’t” anyone (of the top true freshman PG’s) who are clearly better.

therefore it’s best to change the subject…….as he has.

I did too

I can only guess folks think 5* freshman PG’s should be averaging 20+………..and that it’s just a given.

That’s exactly why I put together this list/info. I was thinking Chandlers stats look real good “to me” (of corse his free shooting could be better and hopefully he can keep improving everywhere). But dang his numbers are freakin solid.

If one didn’t know better one could come away from a thread thinking Tyty averages a double double and that JD is lights out…….while Chandler is…..meh. However in reality Chandlers numbers meets or exceeds theirs…..at basically everything.
Chandler is a very good player, he can get better as well. He is not at his ceiling or even close. He is very coachable, he does sometimes make some lazy throws and bad decisions but he bounces back from them. I am sure him and his parents will think it through. He will get taken if he comes out on talent alone early but probably play G-league a year or so. I could see him play one more year at Tennessee and then leave but whatever he does is up to him and his family. I do think he enjoys playing here. He seems to fit, he is improving as the year goes. He is playing much better here the last 2-3 weeks, doing the little things better.

I love anyone who wears orange, but if they have weak points that can they can improve on, I see no problem with saying it. I realize this is just an opinion about a sports star and that all I am giving is an opinion. You seem to think your opinion is “The Only Truth” , like many folks on social media. If your opinion meant that much, you would be writing for a USA Today instead of a message board.
You may be a victim of the Dunning Kruger effect. Talk to your doctor about getting help.

On sports station today they were talking about how the nba has been taking young talent and putting it into g-league not because the player was ready but to get them before some other team does. Also said it’s not making the NBA better either. Many older players agree, the nba game is pretty freakin ugly. I would much rather watch a college game, with the NIL I think you will see more players go to college and play. The minor leagues in baseball is losing money, does the g-league really develop a player quicker? Maybe maybe not. I know a lot of players and parents will probably opt for college if they can get money to stay in school. Micheal Jordan didn’t need no G-league nor Bird nor Magic or many more. Players making money in college on a campus have a lot more exposure than g-league games with fans. Just saying, it isn’t a 1 way street with all players. In baseball more and more big time players are turning to college instead of the minor leagues.

Can we not be happy that we have 2 very good, very capable point guards? Every school in America would be so happy to be so blessed. Come on, Volnation.

Chandler has bad some up and down moments for sure.... Jordan Bone was a 4 year player and Id take Chandler as a freshman against Bone in any year ..... Id say the numbers would agree.... We get one of the top PGs in the nation and some in our base wanna be negative about a highly productive player that has a chance at being a 1st rounder.... I dont get it

Bone was a 3 year player. It would be tough for me to choose between KC and Bone in year 3. Same points per game; Bone had one more assist and a little better 3 point shooter. KC is a better defender.

But the fact we are having that discussion means KC is very, very good as a freshman PG.

IMO, junior year Bone was a more productive player than freshman Chandler. Due to the prior years experience, Bone was more adept at running the offense and team defense although KC is better at steals. Bone was also taller, heavier, stronger, and faster than Chandler and I believe the combine numbers will support this. Bone could have scored more but we had 5 good scorers. Bone could always get to the rim like Chandler but didn’t finish as well as Chandler initially but he corrected that by his junior season. Bone is the reason I sometimes wonder if Chandler will have nba success because Bone’s 3” taller and more athletic yet after a couple of call ups he’s not been able to stick in the nba. JMO

G- League didn't start until the Fall of 2001. Long after the players mentioned. Michael Jordan was never stopped except in college by his coach Dean Smith and the 4 Corners offense (pre-shot clock). Ergo, the old saying the only one to ever hold Jordan down was Dean Smith. Yep, he would have been G league.

Does anyone really think Jordan would have been G league?

Well no doubt he would have been a NBA pick but I’m not sure in the 1980’s if you could go straight to NBA after freshman year. I know at one time a few went from HS and they changed rules but anyway the money is just too much to turn down.

Bottom line is the NBA is not the league it one was. It is a no defense sloppy easy scoring game. The college game is much more fun to watch. Many ex nba players will tell you the same. The nba viewership is a fragment of what it once was. College basketball is much more popular with most Americans. GBO

Yes, he is really good. He will be a pro.

Surround him with shooters, and he’s elite.

Ziegler is a better PG for this particular team bc he shoots the ball better at this time.

Kennedy will be much better on drives in the NBA because 75% of his charges are called blocks in the pros.

The NBA also has better spacing and big men who can catch and score. If Chandler's wing span is now up to 6'7" as was reported on tv, that's massive for him. Rajon Rondo had a 6'9 wingspan at 6'0 tall which I read was an NBA record for a small pg for wingspan over height. He made a ton of money over the years using that as a top notch defender and assist guy.
