ESPN has him listed at 6-4. I'm trying to think of an elite tailback who was that tall and I'm drawing a blank. I'm not saying that an elite 6-4 tailback is outside the realm of possibility, but I definitely think there's a reason the average height of running backs in the NFL is 5-9; namely, a lower center of gravity allows for quicker changes in direction, which is something running backs have to do.
The tallest elite running back I can come up with is Eric Dickerson, who is 6-3. So it isn't impossible, but he's definitely the exception. And he was also just a uniquely talented player.
Am I overthinking this? Is Hurd definitely going to be a stud?

I looked up most of these players and Dickerson and George are the only ones i found claiming 6'3.
Facts are facts.....6ft 4in running backs are hard to find. Keep tryin.[/
Dont disagree. 6'4" rbs are very rare indeed. Please recall I stated I was listing running backs off the top of my head who were listed at 6'2" or taller.... All of which were outstanding running backs in the NFL, including many hall of famers. I think you we're caught up with RBs who are 6'4", which is not what I said, at any point. Here are the guys I listed, plus a few more as examples....
Jim Brown 6'2" 230
Eric Dickerson 6'3" 220
OJ Simpson 6'2" 211
OJ Anderson 6'2" 220
John Riggins 6'2" 230
Marcus Allen 6'2" 210
George Rogers 6'2" 228
Chuck Muncie 6'3" 227
Franco Harris 6'2" 230
Steven Jackson 6'2" 240
Eddie George 6'3" 235
I also included Adrian Peterson, who I admitted was kinda smallish at a mere 6'1" 217
Oh, and I Didn't include Brandon Jacobs, 6'4" 264 because although he's had a solid NFL career, he would not be considered an all-time great and/or a Hall of Famer like most of the others listed above.
At the collegiate level, TJ Yeldon is pretty good, no? .... 6'2" 218. His running mate at Bama, Kenyon Drake is 6'1"... As is Todd Gurley. And LSU's Jeremy Hill doesn't suck... he's 6'2" 235.
My point wasn't to find a ton of 6'4" guys who were great RBs. It was to point out that have been quite a few "big RBs" over the years who have been great, even Hall of Famers, who were 6'2" or 6'3", which again, I stated in my post which you quoted. That would make them a mere 2.5 to 5 centimeters shorter than Hurd, if he really is 6'4".... Which Vol74 has not only called into question, but has now actively refuted.
He may be tall. Butch will use him in a recieving roll also. He will be versatile.
We get a 5 star RB and now he is too tall. :banghead2::no::spank::bash::stop:ESPN has him listed at 6-4. I'm trying to think of an elite tailback who was that tall and I'm drawing a blank. Hello hello...can I introduce Jim Brown. 6'2", 232. In a time when players where, as a whole, not as big.
