ACC has some sort of contract that is preventing them from leaving, I believe.
Some would’ve already left had they not been locked into this contract.
The whole conference looks stupid calling itself the Atlantic Coast Conference and having west coast and Midwest teams in it
This is exactly right . Jim Philipps helped create this situation.Sankey had an interesting comment that the ACC/PAC12/Big 10 "alliance" delayed the CFP expansion to 12 teams.
If the ACC hadn't been part of that fraud, then this issue is moot as FSU would have clearly made a 12 team playoff. The ACC helped to create this situation.
Bingo. Jim Phillips was the one who said that the ACC had bigger priorities than expanding the CFP. Well that really bit him in the ass didn’t it?
That and Dabo was blowing out almost everybody when they peaked. 2nd and 3rd string was playing most of the second half during the season. One reason they went into the playoffs without any key injuriesI’m not sure . Do you guys think that if this were a Clemson team coached by Dabo, a guy who has won multiple national titles gets in? I do. He has enough built up equity over time , and FSU and Norvel doesn’t have that w/ a backup QB and mid level SOS.
The problem is with someone coming to SEC is that Disney’s ESPN has no more money to fork over to SEC for those new members.I think even if a team has a buyout to leave the conference, their media rights aren't released by tv contract until like 2035.
What it will take is a lawsuit against the media rights or reaching a settlement price for them.
I can see FSU or Clemson ponying up $100 to jump ship to SEC or B1G.
ACC commissioner was one of three commissioners to create a cartel to vote against the SEC’s desire for CFP-12.Wouldn't it be crazy if FSU sued ncaa and playoffs committee and judge (FSU Alum) granted a temporary stay until their case was heard?
That would almost force the committee to go back and do an emergency 12 team implementation.
I heard though, Liberty’s beauty pageant record would have gotten them one of the 12 spots. The ACC and FSU have their chance in the Orange Bowl - if they were to somehow beat Georgia and end up 14-0, they will and rightfully should claim a National Championship especially if a one loss team ends up winning. FSU is NOT Liberty.
Why would ND leave? Their deal is like getting to sleep with your neighbors wife whenever you want but the cluck still works to support her. After today’s decision by the committee, doesn’t this kill the ACC. I can see FSU, Clemson and Notre Dame leaving.
All very nice, but who gets kicked out so that FSU and Miami can take their spots? Or if no one is kicked out, what does that do to the scheduling, which they just finally seemed to work out to include Texas and Oklahoma? If FSU and Miami want to join the SEC, let them. That would at least raise the stakes recruiting wise in the state and increase their rivalry intensity.
I really don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze w/ those 2. Miami isnt really an SEC school to me. I think they’d fit better in the Big 12 at this point. If FSU and Miami want to join the SEC, let them. That would at least raise the stakes recruiting wise in the state and increase their rivalry intensity.
Clemson nor FSU moves the needle enough to generate big TV money increase. Plus, ESPN has the contract & they’ve already said they ain’t paying more. They ain’t cause they can’t. Disney is making them earn their way now.I really don’t think the juice is worth the squeeze w/ those 2. Miami isnt really an SEC school to me. I think they’d fit better in the Big 12 at this point.
What is the point of backstabbing FSU if it castrates your own conference?Could it possibly be that Boo Corrigan torpedoed them in the committee room because of FSU’s very public desire to leave the ACC? He’s an ACC guy isn’t he? Put it this way, maybe he didn’t fight very hard. Never underestimate pettiness and revenge as factors in anything.
