Does UT make a 12 team playoff with 10 wins?

ya'll act like Joe was a scrub lol our QB play was not bad..compared to Hooker before it seemed off but if you look at his stats against anyone else that's played for UT only 6 QBs in UT history have passed for more yards single season than Joe and his season is 11th all time (Peyton 3, Ainge 2 and Clausen 2 had multiple entries). He is also tied for 10th in total touchdowns in a single season only 8 players have scored more (Peyton and Hendon had double appearances). there were enough issues with the offense to pass blame around everywhere but it was not a bad season by any metric. Total offense Single season 8th only 5 guys ahead of him. The only QB in modern times to win a natty is not ahead of him in any of these stats BTW. So by what metric do you say QB play was bad? Bro won 8 games regular season. In the games we lost Joe played bad against UGA like every other QB they faced that L is squarely on him. Was he perfect no but when people run bad routes or drop balls how is that on him?

Injuries to WR and Secondary hurt us immensely last year. Thornton was out a lot of the year then Bru went down. The secondary was a MASH unit all season and once we list Hadden it was pretty much over. We had walk-ons taking meaningful snaps in the secondary at more than one point. A healthy UT wins 10 regular season games last year and this year could be looking at 11. I think this year we have built up enough depth that we can take a few injuries. We had 2 deep depth and 3 deep at a lot of places. We were playing 4th string guys last year in the secondary out of necessity not because the guys in front were bad. Last years 2nd string guys are the new 4th stringers there.
I never said Joe was a scrub. I think he played pretty well in the first half. He had two great throws to Squirrel and to Castles. I also agree that the WR unit was a mash unit for parts of the year. When it came to Milton’s play he had some pretty good stats, but I think collectively most people saw that we were not that efficient w/ Joe leading the offense. We were limited in our passing game. We didn’t even try to use the middle of the field at all . It was basically quick hitters to the boundary, hitch routes, comeback routes, mix in some swing passes to the backs and then deep throws. When we played good teams they were able to make adjustments and we didn’t have the capability to answer. I don’t think this an opinion only held by myself .

We could’ve and should’ve won 10 games last season (including the bowl game) We were better than Florida and still found a way to lose. That’s the only team we lost to that I think we were better than. The bottom line is that we didn’t score at a high rate against good teams and even some bad teams. 16 vs UF, 20 vs Bama (all in the first half), 13 offensive points vs ATM, 7 vs Mizzou, 10 vs UGA. That has to fall on Milton a little bit.

I agree about this season and expect us to win 10 regular season games and have the opportunity to be a CFP this season .

I still wonder how much Alex Golesh leaving affected our offensive play calls last season.
Keyton last year was a momentum killer last season.
New season, GBO

Keyton had a rough year last season . He played so well in 2022, it was tough to see him regress.

IF we get to 10 wins, we would be a lock for the playoffs. I don't think it matters how we get to the 10 wins. In order to get to 10 wins, a loss (or 2) to any middle pack team (UK, UF, Miss St, etc.) would mean a win (or 2) against a top tier team(s) (UGA, @ Okla, Bama). I think the good win would offset the mediocre loss.

If you can't make a 12-team playoff with 10 regular season wins there's something wrong with the system.

Why is a loss to Oklahoma guaranteed? That’s a toss up in favor of Vols imo.
Nothing is a guarantee but comparable talent + hostile crowd + young QB's first real road test + a team thats highly motivated to win it's first SEC game in their new conference = a VERY tough challenge for the Vols. I.think the game is going to be a dog fight and I think we come up short.

If that happens I hope we get Memphis round one. They have a chance this year imo to be the highest rated Group of 7 team. Need to remind them who big brother is

Florida is a loss until otherwise. (Just going by over 70 hours or actual game time of Tennessee vs Florida seen witn my own eyes. We forget fundamentals completely and lose good or bad Florida teams)

Every other game is a win or winnable.

12-1 SEC Champions and 1st round by in the playoffs

Honest question on Georgia. Do you think we have the talent and depth now to match up with them along the line of scrimmage? That’s where they’ve dominated us the past few years.

We should (I repeat SHOULD) be underdogs in only three games (OU, BAMA, UGA).
Would I be satisfied with losing all those and winning all the favored games to go 9-3. Probably.

But I would be thrilled with winning one of those plus winning all 9 favored games making us 10-2 and getting into the playoffs. 🤗🤗🤗😜😜😜😛😛😛
Imagine if we hosted a playoff game against someone like Notre Dame. Our fan base would go insane. 🤪

I think I’m one of the most grounded here and I disagree. I think with marginal QB play we win one of those. I’m more concerned a third loss is somewhere it shouldn’t be. Someone like FL.
yes, 9-3 with a loss against Florida would be the "Tennessee Way"

I dont see what the "Hype" is around OU.. they lost so much at the end of the season last year. And their QB will be a first time starter just like Nico. I think that game will be a Pickem.

I havent even checked the books. 😅
Before playing us, OU hosts Temple, Tulane, and Houston.
Will be very interesting to see how they perform in those.
Of course, our game with NCSU will tell us a lot about the Vols too.
So, the OU/UT odds could change quite a bit based upon those results.

Their Offensive line will be new and i dont think they will have time to figure it out before we roll in. And having a shotty O-Line vs this Tennessee Defensive front is a big problem for OU.

I'm liking the Bama game this year....we will see, but I feel like that game is very winnable. OK/UGA not feeling good about simply because they are on the road...NC State is going to be a pivotal early game for us....like Pitt was a couple years ago.
