Dogs of VolNation and other pets that are inferior to Dogs

She really is. And, my middle son is bonding quickly, so we need to find her home ASAP!

Edit: she has a chip, registered to FL numbers, but UT has not been able to reach them yet and can't give us their info. Registered as a Blue Tick, but looking online, she appears to be a Treeing Walker.

Everyone should have their pet chipped. The owner will be happy when they find her.

I don't know about u all and your dogs, but 2day is a miserable day for Gauge. The fireworks scare him half to death. He is sitting in my lap right now and has been behind my back or underneath my legs, touching me all day. I know what a great holiday this is and appreciate it, but I wish we could celebrate it without fireworks for my dog's sake. Maybe, they could come up with no sound fireworks so dogs could enjoy the light show without being terrified

Mine is totally indifferent, perks her ears for the first few booms then ignores them.

Good for her. Gauge has always been a little skittish, ever since we 1st adopted him. I think his previous owners were yellers and had like 8 kids under 13, so that might be part of his problem. But, my other dogs hated them, too.

Well, we found Cheyenne's home. Strange birds and not nearly excited enough to have just had their fur baby returned. I kind of wish they hadnt been located.

Just celebrated my dog's birthday. I don't know what her birthday truly is, but I rescued her on July 3rd, so I always make her a special treat on the 4th to celebrate.

Ingredients: 1 pound fried ground beef, shredded Colby Jack cheese liberally sprinkled on top (read that as "covered") and topped with hot dogs.

Result? Stuffed and happy dog now lying in front of the air conditioner vent.

Every dog's dream. She doing okay with the fireworks?

My pups had no issues with the fireworks. However, almost got blown up when some artillery blew out the bottom and tipped over. I haven't been that excited since the last time I received indirect in Iraq. Makes a man feel alive. I scooped up my 10 year old and hauled @ss.

The plot thickens... That Walker we rescued was out again today and was hit by a car. Friends recognized her on Facebook and contacted us. She is going to be okay, but those owners have no right to keep her. We're going to go pick her up from the guy that saved her this time, but I'm not sure how to proceed from here.

Any advice?

Almost certain dogs are considered property. With the chip it's going to be difficult. Good luck, she needs a caring owner.

It seems that the dog doesn't like her owners, maybe you should rescue her? Just because she was chipped doesn't mean the people that owned her really care about her. She was probably an "impulse" buy from someone that doesn't understand the amount of work and expense it takes to own a dog.

That's where I'm headed. Just don't know what my options are if the owner says "no."

Just take her in and play dumb?

But realistically I don't know how the ins and outs work regarding abandonment or animal control telling someone that they've forfeited rights to the dog and so on.

If it was me I'd just keep it and only worry about the details if someone came looking for her. Of course that could be awful when she inevitably becomes part of your household.

Did you get any feel for the owners, if they give a rip about her or not?

She looks relatively young, maybe they got sick of having a dog instead of a puppy.

Yes, they came across as indifferent and she was not one bit excited to see them. I hated leaving her. Vet says about 1.5 years old.

If it were me I'd just go get her. I've done it once before. When I was a teenager we had to give up a dog because we were moving. The people were mistreating him so I went and took him. Someone saw me and the cops came to my house. We had him hid in a closet and luckily they didn't look real hard. We kept him hidden until we could find him a good home.

My rescue pit I have now was being mistreated. We were going to get her the weekend PAWS came and took her from the people that were abusing her. We got her from PAWS which worked out better anyway because they took care of all her medical problems and it only cost us $80.

I hope this dog is able to be with a good family that will care for her.

Don't return their phone calls

Dude, call animal control and explain the situation. You'll have the option to adopt if they remove the dog from the situation.

This is serious.
Voxx just called you "dude"

Lol, I took notice!

I'm going to hold onto her for the night and let them get used to her not being around for another day. Then, I'll call and try the soft/emotional approach (like including the kids). If that doesn't work over a few days, I'll go animal control if necessary.

Money talks. Explain to them that one of your children loves the dog and offer to compensate.

This could work, especially if they acted indifferent. Could be the only thing they are worried about is the money they had to spend for and on her. Good luck, I hope it works out for u and her, both. Sounds like she would be better off with u
