Clemons cheated..pure and simple. He is disqualified from any greatest ever talk IMO.

In a one game situation, I would take Pedro in his prime over any pitcher over the last 20 years.

In a one game situation, I would take Smoltz in his prime...big game pitcher.

I'm not saying my opinion is the only one...there were some great pitchers in the last 20 years but to me Pedro dominated on almost a nightly basis.

What he was able to do his first few years in Boston were amazing.

I'm a homer....Pedro was awesome, no doubt.

Bill Simmons Syndrome?

Not sure what syndrome that is ( I know who Simmons is )...either way, it would be like someone saying that Barry is the best player over the last 20 years...well he cheated, so to me he is automatically disqualified from the discussion.

Absolutely. He could not be touched.

Randy Johnson in Arizona had a nice 11 ks/9, over 300 ks per year, a 2.65 ERA

Imagine what Pedro could have done against those sorry ass lineups.

He did it in the AL East.

Beating a dead horse here, but Bonds was also absolutely ABSURD in those annabolic-aided years.

Wasn't discrediting or arguing against pedro, who had a 2.26 ERA in Boston and actually had 11.2 ks/9, more than johnson

Simmons hated Clemens with a passion. He actually wrote an article telling the world why he thought Clemens was the antichrist.

I also look at Randy Johnson being 7 foot tall as a huge advantage...Pedro is the size of a sophomore and he threw heat and owned guys.

I vaguely remember this. And I guarantee I know who Simmons would pick in this discussion.....

Pedro Martinez transactions -->

November 19, 1993: Traded by the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Montreal Expos for Delino DeShields.

November 18, 1997: Traded by the Montreal Expos to the Boston Red Sox for a player to be named later and Carl Pavano. The Boston Red Sox sent Tony Armas (December 18, 1997) to the Montreal Expos to complete the trade.

Um, well... wow...

Doesn't mean jack because the complete list of players who used will never be known.

Both dude's were pricks, but both would have succeeded with or without juice. Any era, any day, any time.

co-sign. not saying I approve of steroids or i'm okay with it all, but it is true that Jeter, Griffey... etc... could've used.

Bonds would've been in Cooperstown with or without some juice.
