Don't forget about Worley!!!

100% agree with all of this.

Also he had two dropped sure fire TD's? Cool, so that means those were his only chances at a TD? Dudes argument holds little weight.

Yeah his argument is weak weak. Look I fully expect Dobbs to improve and I think he will have a good game against Vandy. However I will be a little worried if he doesn't put up a couple of TD passes against Vandy and UK. If Worley is healthy, it might be better to play him against Vandy because of the experience factor.

Absolutely agree. Dobbs makes me nervous. I knew what we had in Worley. You are right, Dobbs needs a few TD's against both teams. These aren't top 10 defenses from here on out.

I think we should just shut the hell up and support Dobbs for now. Let everything else sort itself out. I have no idea why we have to tear down one or the other to make our opinions have more merit.

Worley won the first meaningful game in several years as starter. Dobbs has shown great potential in his starts despite the outcomes versus very strong opponents.

Hmmm. This is the most reasonable, logical, and cogent post on VN in years. Banned IMO.

Lol...wrong on all counts. U obviously follow the program very close. Worley's out for the season.

It seems to me from reading the posts on here that Worley isn't even in the conversation when it comes to next season. Dobbs has promise no doubt, and even though we haven't seen Ferg, there seems to be a lot of confidence in him. If everyone will stop and think back to the back to back GA. and SCAR. games, Worley was starting to be a leader and making the throws. Then he got hurt and we have lost 3 straight blowouts. This is not a knock on freshman Dobbs, only a just wait and see on Worley. Worley could be really outstanding his senior year.

The only issue I have with this is:

1. Total defense and Offensive line lost it at Missouri, Not Dobbs
2. Total defense lost it for Auburn, Dobss was steller

I am high on the Fergy train but that is because I followed his recruitment closely. He has grit and finds a way to win. I pray and hope we don't lose him but I am a VOL fan first. I will always pull for what QB is in the game. GBO

I'm not going to try to change your opinion. I'll leave u with this....Worley's time as our starter is over. Just wait and see.

Let me just say this. One of the two QBs fit CBJ's system the other does not. Assuming all things are equal on the practice field the one that fits the system best will start.

Ferguson will start next season. Dobbs is an upgrade from Worley, but I don't believe he is the guy that will take is to the next level.

Ferguson will go through the Spring and either feel he has a chance to start in 2014 or transfer. If Butch can somehow make it unclear and give both hope Ferg may stay. Dobbs will stay no matter what his transfer options are more limited(would have to sit out) and go to a school with Aeronaticatical Enginnering

LACK OF TEAM SPEED LOST BOTH GAMES,... Sigh.....

What have you seen that makes you think Dobbs is a "dynamic playmaker?"

Well didn't say Dobbs specifically.

But now that you bring it up. He's had two really explosive runs for Mizz and Auburn. He's accurate with the football and has a nice arm. Dobb's give us that edge on defenses. They have to account for Dobbs and the RB in the read option. He can also take a QB draw 40 yards ... You see Worley doing that ??

As far as "meaningful" goes, you would have to go back and look at the context of the post to which I responded. I certainly do not mean to bash Dobbs, as I hope that whoever plays qb for U.T. is wildly successful. Jones started Dobbs because he was the ONLY healthy qb on the roster. He has been quoted as saying that there was no other choice. Dobbs was it.

Ok. I didn't realize Riley Ferguson was hurt.

I've seen flashes from the true freshman who's made his debut vs the #1, 8 and 6 teams in the country. Here are a few off the top of my head....

- beautiful back shoulder throw to Johnson for a first down rolling to his right vs Bama
- long completion to North on a pass thrown back across the field vs Bama
- 30+ yd run vs Mizzou
- perfectly thrown skinny post route that should've gone for a 45+ yd TD had Josh Smith not dropped it vs Mizzou
- 30+ yd run in the 1st half vs Auburn

Additionally, in 2.5 games this year he has 2 of our 4 longest rushes, vs Mizzou and Auburn. The other 2 were by Lane and Neal vs SoAla.

You can see flashes from him, that he's athletic and capable. The potential is there and there's no doubt in my mind that we see him take a huge jump from his Frosh to Soph years.... kinda like a certain long-necked kid with an oversized forehead did about 20 yrs ago.

Why is everyone so high on Dobbs right now? He seems to turn the ball over alot to me.. just based on what I have seen. I wouldn't rule Ferg. out next year either. I think he is our guy and we'd have seen him play for whorly w/o the injury.

Because I believe I see tremendous potential in him.

Gotta love VN we still have 2 possibly 3 games left and we're almost 200 posts in arguing about next years quarterback lol...

Worley- has the heart of a lion..love the kid. He truly bleeds orange, however may have started his last game.

Peterman- see Florida game tape:unsure:

Fergie- we've never seen him take a snap and some people already have him penciled in as superstar.

Dobbs-considering age and schedule has played well. Expect him to have breakout game against Vandy...if not then let's talk about who is next.

I was thinking the same thing, heck i would just like to see Dobbs have more td's than int's in a game. He has yet to even toss a td! I want the qb who puts us in the best position to win, I'm not hung on a name, or style, and do not care what they major in.

Dobbs was behind Worley, Peterman, and Ferguson until those three were injured. Dobbs has made some athletic plays but I don't see how anyone can say he has been an accurate passer. He has struggled to see open receivers down field and he has not shown a knack for completing them when he does throw it down the field.

I hope he will be great but he has yet to prove he can handle the job at a high level of proficiency. But, to be fair, he was thrown in over his head against three very good teams.

Hope springs eternal for the next two weeks.
