Don't forget about Worley!!!

Riley will play football next year, if not at TN then somewhere else. He may even beat out Dobbs for starter next year. If he gets reasonable playing time, he will stay. if not, he will go. We'll know more about this situation after the next two games. But, Dobbs will have to put on a phenomenal show over the next two games for anyone to say they don't need to see Riley perform.

Aww c'mon, merging GrowVol's 'Riley' thread into the 'Don't forget about Worley' thread makes my guy-eating-popcorn-and-watching emoticon a lot less meaningful.

I see Ferguson staying thru next year and see where he stands after that even if he doesn't win the job. Dobbs got a slight head start with getting some game time in but Ferguson may very well take the job either way. Good problem to have.

I'm so confused as to how so many are so quick to praise Dobbs after what he's done so far. I've seen nothing to think the race for next year isn't completely wide open with no clear favorite.

I think hes shown a lot of promise. He seems poised, has a strong arm, and hes somewhat athletic. Im not sure we should be expecting more from somebody who has only been on campus a few months.

Freshmen are allowed to be difference makers. Just not at UT.

Either Dobbs or Peterman. Worley as a backup. Peterman should transfer.

You guys keep underestimating Worley. He made the O go. I like Dobbs' skills better too but the effectiveness of the O and team has not been the same since he went out.

Agree that Peterman will have a tough time ever making a come back at UT.

Ferguson may be worthy of the hype but WAY too many people are making huge assumptions about the ability of a guy who has never played a down for UT.

Riley will be the starter next year. His desire and determination reminds me of Payton.

You mean Peyton, right? Anyhow, what have you seen out of Riley as far as HS film that makes you think he is more determined than Worley or Dobbs? Am I missing film footage of Riley running STRAIGHT at ALABAMA LINEBACKERS soon after he came into the game this season....No you dont, because that was Dobbs. Is that determination?

Dobbs has the advantage in SEC play experience. Riley will have to get some play experience to see how he performs in real game situations. Probably everyone wants to see that next year.

Yeah, and he got blown up twice in that game for doing that

True freshman with nickname "Clutch Lightning" will start (6'-8", 260, 4.30 speed, Elway crosses, accurate to within 3" at 45 yards, runs like Barry Sanders in prime).

Yeah but at least he didnt throw a 10 yd pass into the dirt like Worley has done over and over again. Id rather our QB run and pick up 20 yds, than seeing a junior QB throw a 10 yard pass into the feet of our uncovered receiver/rb. Wouldnt you?

And led Tennessee's anemic offense to the first TD Alabama has allowed at home all year. Said runs were a large part of that drive. It's time to stop dogging the mobile QB thing. In case you don't recall, Tennessee's last big mobile guy was the one holding up a crystal ball.

So is Aj mccarron - seems to have worked out well for them. You don't have to have a "dynamic" QB to win games. A sometimes a game manager is better.

But we're not Alabama. We're not even a quarter of what Alabama is right now. With the talent on this team we need a "dynamic" QB to be competitive.

Not a chance. Either Dobbs or Ferguson.
Exactly. Starting Worley this season was just a stop-gap measure, until the freshmen Butch signed, were able to get acclimated to the game.

Dobbs already looks pretty good as it is, and you can tell he just needs some time to let the speed of the game slow down for him. When it does, there will be no doubt why he's the starter. I don't view Ferguson as a backup, either.

Anytime you have a mobile QB, running the read option, and pulling the ball and running as much as this system requires, there is going to be a heightened risk of injury. So, it will be more of a Dobbs 1a, and Ferguson 1b arrangement (in the Spring and next fall), IMHO.

I expect Worley to be the one who transfers. Peterman could grow into an outstanding QB, himself, down the road. I just think he, too, is having trouble adjusting to the speed of the game and the quality of defenses in the SEC. It will come to him.

No, of course not, when you are top 5 in every single other position. We're a long way away from that, though, and Worley isn't half the game manager that McCarron is.

Perhaps with the players around him like McCarron, he just might be that game manager.

Certainly don't disagree with most of this. I've been on the same page with you regarding Worley this season. However, I just believe Dobbs has a much higher ceiling. Although he hasn't seen the field, most "insiders" reported that prior to his injury that Riley was actually ahead of Dobbs. They are the future IMO and God bless Justin, but barring injury to those 2, his time has come and gone.

Finally, while we did have some success with Justin at QB and even though he got little help on any consistent basis from our WR corps, I wouldn't say our offense was exactly humming when he was running the show. Again, he did the job to the best of his ability and is to be thanked for his dedication and contributions to the program ... but, IMHO, we have already moved on to the two more talented, higher potential QBs.

With you til the last paragraph. I would think that since Worley is a junior, that he returns for his senior year and accepts his backup role. Peterman, with 3 more years of eligibility seems to me to be the one more likely to transfer, unless one of the freshmen decides to move on after not winning the starting job.
