Don't know if true but I'm not happy...(Memphis St series)

I agree that UT could easily add another high caliber program to replace Memphis on it's schedule. Ending this series also doesn't require the Vol's to play anymore football games in Memphis, which would suck for the Vol's in the Bluff City. Nonetheless Win-Win for both programs IMO..........

insert virginia in memphis place, thats an upgrade in all honesty.

we wont be playing football in memphis, the only reason we did it was to get the bball team out there as well, that was the deal with rc. we have no reason to pay them for our football team to go out there and play, it makes no sense. we're better off going to another state where we can showcase our football team to other recruits.

I think later...perhaps get something going with Georgia Tech. In both football and basketball, we pull a lot more athletes from the Atlanta area than Memphis

The only reason Memphis backed out of the series is they don't want another loss on thier record. They are going to be a middle of the pack Big East team IMO. There are a lot more Big East teams that are closer to memphis than UT that are going to poach your recruits now. Most Vol fans don't care either way, we will fill our schedule no problem. Virginia is a good start.

bingo! and as i pointed out with memphis' record this year against top 100 rpi teams, they would go 7-9 in the sec going off their track record against the top 100 rpi teams.

going off that same principal of how they play vs top 100 rpi teams they would be in the lower half of the big east...haha get used to dissapointment and the nit memphis.

A monkey could see that Memphis has improved, both from last season and over this season. Pastner has turned Barton into a Wooden award contender, and Barton looked lost last season.

You've beat A ranked team. Singular. Florida has Mike Anderson syndrome and is horrible on the road. You've also lost at home to Austin Peay, who is 9-18.

As for UT's improvement, they're a better team because they added a big time player. Who knows where UT would be if Stokes hadn't fell into Martin's lap.

I've explained why Memphis is no longer playing UT several times now. I've also told you that it's not my decision, personally I'd like to play you guys for another 5 years so we can take the series lead.

I agree that Stokes added a ton to our lineup, but I don't think he's the only reason we're playing better. Fact is, we've just started playing good team basketball. Our guards are playing consistently well for the first time in a long time, and our team defense has improved markedly. Stokes plays a role in that, but I don't know that he is the complete reason for it.

Stokes can't get all the credit, but I give him a lot. Tennessee is as talented or moreso than maybe 10 other SEC teams in it's starting lineup, even before Stokes. 4 stars across the board for the most part, but UT had no depth and was undersized and inconsistent at the 5.

Not only is Stokes the most talented kid on the team as an 18 year old, but he also filled the biggest void on the team (bigger than the PG position, even).

Great guards are a dime a dozen and can impact a game from the jump, but an elite big man can turn an entire team around and they're hard to come by.

+1
And at that time Kenny was playing crappy, a post addition was much more needed than any other position.

I've actually also heard many feel stokes attitude and work ethic have rubbed off on practice and guys getting into the gym. So you could also attribute that to those other guys improving, such as McRae just to name one.

Hey Memphis posters that posted in this thread,

What happened to pastner not losing another c USA game as you all stated, and winning out, and winning c USA? Also, what about pastner not having any bad losses, team with losing record and no conference road wins?

I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. Pastner makes it his hobby to lose to c-USA teams on a regular basis. Big east will be a rude awakening when you can't even win the c USA in 3 years.

Pastner will not coach a game in the Big East. If he does Memphis is screwed. They will be the next Depaul. Pastner is over his head and it is obvious.

They won the C-USA tournament last year.

Also, a 32-12 record isn't exactly losing regularly.

I think Pastner is completely overrated as a coach, but the guy can recruit a team that wins 75% of its conference games without coaching.

The conversation was about winning the regular season title not conference.

When you look at what their previous 3 year record was in c USA its considered losing regularly. The fact he can't win the reg season title in c USA is pathetic, I'm sorry. How do you let the utep and usm of the world beat you year in and year out.

My church league could win 75% of conference games in c USA. It is horrible, they will be in the bottom half of the big east.

Bad. Bad loss. Some ole, same ole down the stretch in February.

I always reserve judgment until the after the tournament, but this loss was horrible.

Oh c'mon man. How many other SEC teams start 5 4* players?

Game cast goes by who's on the floor. If you're on the floor you're a starter on game cast.

Gotcha...it's really frustrating to not get all the games, or to have to metro half way across town to a bar to watch them. I'll live though, but sometimes it may produce innacurate comments.
