Don't know if true but I'm not happy...(Memphis St series)

cluck cluck cluck.....Josh Pastner....a chicken in a man suit

No more scared of Memphis than Don Devoe was back in the 80's. I'd love for Memphis to continue the rivalry, but the Big East presents tougher competition top to bottom than the SEC.

Tennessee and Arkansas should agree to play their game at the Pyramid each year. It will help with recruiting and still manage a presence in Memphis. On another note, I don't blame JP. UT walked into his backyard and stole one of the best players to come out of there since Penny, I'm sure that chapped his a**. You notice Cal doesn't recruit Memphis that hard anymore, I know he wants Stokes but he's backed off. Gentleman's agreement???

Bass Pro bought the Pyramid. The Fedex would support it though, but highly unlikely.

I understand the rationale behind the decision, but it still sucks. I'm going to miss this series.

Especially when it looks like Pastner was picking up the upper hand. We're supposedly playing Boise St. and SDSU(one at home, one away), even though they're football only members. The SDSU game will be amazing, but I'm less than thrilled abou the Boise St. game.

Well, Pastner and Cal finally get their wish. Fencing in Memphis, which will help for the 2013 and 2014 Memphis classes, which will be loaded.

I am not so sure about that. If anything, joining the Big East could open doors for other conference teams. The UT series had very little impact on recruiting IMO.

Don't confuse one year of winning against UT as getting the upper hand. In case you forgot, Pastner got everyone back from last year's team that was worth anything and UT got one starter back, had the NCAA come calling, lost their coach and had a completely different roster and still should've won the neutral game.

If Pastner wants to run like chicken little then that's his prerogative. I could care less. Memphis needs UT much more than UT ever needs Memphis in any sport.

Memphis has been trying to get this for a few years now so it doesn't surprise me. Moving to the BE just gave to the out they needed without have to take all the PR heat for backing out. IMO

I think Coach Martin will have no problem recruiting the Memphis are as he can present the alternative of getting away from the home town, playing for the state school and playing in the SEC. Particularly if he makes in roads with the area HS coaches. Pearl never was able to make the connection. Coach Martin has already in getting Stokes.

I think you maybe you're not thinking clearly...what, pray tell would lead you to believe JP is gaining the upper hand on ANYBODY??? As far as UT, well it's been overly discussed what we lost this year and what we had to deal with this year and we STILL should have beat you in Hawaii....and consensus is the Memphis game was without a doubt the worst game we played all year...got two starters bench and a third ones playing time drastically reduced....and WE DIDNT HAVE JSTOKES...but I have never thought playing Memphis anywhere benefited us at all....our schedule is always among the toughest in the nation...we really dont need Memphis on this schedule...and until Memphis beat Xavier this year...the two wins over Tennessee where their signature wins...a team with .500 winning record this year....now that was fun....

Gaining the upper hand? Oh how quick you are to forget being embarrassed last year...http://www.utsports.com/sports/m-baskbl/stats/2010-2011/ut0105.html

I disagree about those 2 classes. We are already in there hard recruiting 13' class, and we're gonna play next year still right? Most of these kids will be commited at some point during next year, I don't see this having any impact on 13 recruiting class.

Plus, when Memphis misses the dance this year agaun with their loaded lineup, and misses again next year, recruits are gonna look around. It won't matter if pastner is too chicken to play anyone there or not, kids will take it upon themselves to abort the sinking ship.

The funniest part to me is that pastner is too scared to play us because of recruiting. How the hell is he gonna feel when Calhoun, lavin, Thompson come into Memphis? If he was scared of ccm he's gonna shart himself at this thought.

I highly doubt UT will want to line their pockets with a football game down there since they are ditching the hoops series. It would be stupid to play them there. We don't recruit great there anyway. Playing them every now and then down there isn't going to change it.

Look at next year's recruiting class. We are starting to get a foothold in Memphis with some of the players coming here (not to mention Stokes).

He's referring to football. We don't need the football game to help out recruiting in football there and our football team going there does nothing for basketball. I don't get what you're saying talking about stokes. That has nothing to do with the football team going to Memphis to play.

Big East teams already recruited Memphis. UT had trouble, but landed Stokes, so there was a threat (however remote) that UT would start to make up ground in Memphis. This squashes that.

If Petino, Wright, Calhoun wanted to recruit a Memphis kid, they wouldn't have to play the 'We play ehre every otehr year card", just like Roy and K didn't have to with McDonald and Williams.

Ahh...wrong. Memphis made the dance last year. They lost to Arizona. They are on track along with Southern Miss and Central Florida out of ConfUSA to possibly make the big dance.

Pastner is 2-0 vs Martin. When Bruce Pearl was 2-0 vs. Pastner, UT fans were proclaiming their undying dominance in basketball. Funny it can't work both ways with you.

Haha well see if it squashes that. Out of the top Memphis kids in 13...king hubbs jw3 and Nichols. I bet UT gets more of those 4 than Memphis, Memphis misses on all 4, watch and see.

Bruce Pearl ain't walking back through those doors, son.

Memphis missing the dance? Do your homework. Winning our conference, RPI of 18, SOS of 9, 17-7 record, how in god's name are we out of the tournament right now? I think you're letting your hate blind you.

Pastner would say "I don't care if UConn, St. Johns, GTown come into Memphis, BECAUSE WE GET A RETURN GAME AT THOSE SCHOOLS." What good does a return game do Memphis in Knoxville? We gonna show out for all the elite-prospects at Knox Catholic?

Pretty sure the talent was pretty even with pearl and partner teams, you can't even try to argue that this year.

I'll take that bet in a heartbeat.

If I thought you'd be good for it, I'd put some money down.

Honestly? Pick up a map, man.

Storrs is 2 hours from NYC, less than that from Providence, Hartford, New Bedford, New haven, Boston.

It's in one of the most populated areas in the Country.
