Dooley headed to Arkansas State !!

Dooley has got to be a bit shell-shocked. I was really pulling for him: I felt that if he could get it going, develop some momentum, that he and UT could be a force--he's an impressive guy in a lot of ways. But he couldn't get it going, couldn't win a close game, and was unlucky in some ways--strength of schedule/conference, for one. It wouldn't surprise me to see him get out of coaching. He's got a law degree.

I believe Dooley can be successful at a small school like Arkansas State just not in big time college football.

If he sits on 2 times outs on his opponents 39 yard line with 40 clicks left and lets the clock expire, they may run him off too.

The sad reality is that we don't really know how good, or bad for that matter, Dooley is. Had it not been for him hiring Sunseri the season and the program would have certainly been much better.

I don't even have anything against Dooley personally, but again...what makes some of you believe this? He was at a smaller school before he came here and did poorly, as evidenced by the success they're having now without him.

The dude is just not a good head coach.

Easier competition...I also think he will learn to be a better coach after his time at Tennessee. I don't see how you wouldn't learn from some of the mistakes he made here. I think experience will help improve his coaching. But once again I don't think he can be a good coach in big time college football but I think he has a chance at smaller schools.

How so? We actually hired someone who has experienced success in this profession.

His credentials are far from a guaranteed success story. He's as much a risk coming in as Dooley. He does not come in with a recruiting pedigree, especially in the South. Without a talent upgrade, he does not look to be any more suitable than Dooley, especially when you factor in the price. He also does not begin selling all of the seats to fans that Dooley turned off.

I believe that if Hunter, and later Bray, had not gotten hurt last year, and Janzen Jackson had not been kicked off, our season might have been totally different in 2011. If that season had been totally different, maybe all the defensive coaches would have remained, and this season could have been very good. You may disagree, but there is a fine line with momentum in building college football success. The team never rebounded and learned to win after their bad breaks.

If the injuries hadn't happened and we kept our defensive staff from last year, I really think we could have won 8,9, or even 10 games each year.

I would agree if he didn't make many of those same mistakes over and over again during his tenure here.

I think IF he decides to continue coaching at the D1 level, it will be as a coordinator or position coach.

No, you telling your nasty trash pile of a wife that she looks so pretty is the dumbest thing said in a long time.

Arky St would be a good way for Dooley to actually learn some coaching skills in a low pressure setting...Besides according to a member on here Dooley is just gearing up for a return to UGA where he will start a dynasty to rule the SEC and the world

I'm with you. Hamilton sold UT some Doolaide. I never bought any. Now, Hart has bought up a big stockpile of Jones Soda. I'm not buying. However, GBO........... anyway.

My biggest concern is how much influence Dave Hart had in the Sunseri hire.

I think it was well known that Dooley wanted to hire Steele but the Clemson bowl game meltdown nixed that deal. More Dooley luck???

I will say it seems it was a mixture of mistakes on his part and quite a bit of bad luck.

Hope things turn out well for him and his family. If nothing else he left the program in better shape than his predecessor. More talent and no NCAA investigations.
