Dooley headed to Arkansas State !!

Live long enough and reach high enough... and you too will have a major defeat in your life. I hope Dooley and you for that matter have the courage and character to pull yourself back up, keeping pushing forward, and find success.

I hope that Dooley learns to coach on Saturday and not be just a program builder. I hope he becomes a better leader. I wish him nothing but success going forward. I actually appreciate the fact that he took the UT program after Fulmer and Kiffin destroyed the roster and left it in disarray. If Jones or even the next guy (should he fail) will owe a debt to Dooley for at least getting the bus back on the road after those other two drove it into the ditch.

If not.... I hope gameday hires him to replace Corso because the guy really is funny.

I listened to Vince Dooley being interviewed on The Sirius College Sports Channel, he was hinting that derrick Dooley might try to pursue something in broadcasting instead of going back into coaching, which would make perfect sense.

Dooley got a steal with Ark. St. A program that has produced now two SEC coaches in the last 5 years. Don't know much about Malzahn, but Freeze is a fantastic coach. He will lead Ole Miss to some great years in the near future. I'm from Jackson where Lambuth University used to be and where Freeze coached before Ark. St. Great coach. All in all Doolander got a steal with this job.

That is perhaps the most ridiculous statement ever conceived concerning Dool and Sal. Don't hold your breath waiting on such, and don't bet the family farm on that happening either.

So we are both on record here with our predictions about that and we can check back in few years and see who was right. By the way, you are right that it would not be wise to bet the family farm on that (but if someone put a gun to my head right now and told me I had to bet I would bet on that sooner than on the idea that Butch Jones is the right solution for UT - although as a VFL I sure hope I'm wrong about him and hope/pray that he does well).

I'm quiet sure CBJ will work very hard to prove the negas wrong. He knows this is his shot at the big time!

This isn't happening. Apparently the head candidate is Texas Tech's OC

He received a lot of praise as a position coach and recruiter under Saban...Maybe he tried to move on too quickly. I think Vince Dooley is right when he says DD needs to take time off and regroup. This job aged him at least ten years in only three. Taking another head coaching job would not be good for him and his family, and I don't think anyone wants him right now to be frank.

It obviously wasn't meant to be with UT...Some of the things I look back on and can only shake my head at the ridiculousness of sheer bad luck. It's unfair, especially since it had to come at the expense of the players too.

Is there somewhere on here that had the stuff VD said? Any help pting me in the right direction is much appreciated. :hi:

I wish cdd the most of luck and frankly will keep an eye on him where he coaches. I know many dont care for him but frankly he earned a fan in me while he was here. As long as he ain't playing my Vols I will root for him and wish him the best. If I had a 1 question I could ask him I would ask him if he'd come back and coach UT if he were to get better of course. Yes or no, would be a telling answer in many ways.

Any new news on him and Arky st?? Think he would be walking into a better situation there that's for sure. He can rebuild teams. So he needs to take over a place that is already on good ground to hone his coaching only skills.

What I heard was from where I caught the Sports Talk podcast before it was taken off the site. It's updated everyday. It could be lurking somewhere on the interwebs for all I know though. He was talking to Jimmy Hyams I believe. I don't remember much of what he said, but Jimmy did ask him if he thought Dooley would ever coach again or be on broadcasting, lawyer, etc. Vince said he thought Derek needed to take some time off and rethink where he wants to go from here. Not once did he say that he doesn't think Derek will coach again and I don't think he would in any other interview, so anyone saying that is just reading too far into his comments.

Campus Insiders

Here is a video though with Campus Insiders and they talk about the firing at the beginning. He says basically the same things he said to Jimmy.

I agree with you though...He had a fan in me too. But I also realize that he was given all the chances he deserved. The only thing that kills me about his firing is that he went through the true trenches of the program and won't get to see them come out on top. But such is life I suppose. I think he'll bounce back somewhere though. We forget he's only been a head coach for six years. His life and career are far from over.

Can a mod please change the title of this thread to BS rumor? or atleast (unconfirmed)

I'm not buying it,there's no bamboo or nazis in Arkansas for him to ramble about. Unless they have a bad staph infection problem he isn't going there.
