Dooley headed to Arkansas State !!

I wish him well. Liked him,got tired of losing though.
He did alot for this program.........good and some bad.
He was not prepared to coach in the SEC,but he did accept the challenge and unfortunately for him and us it did not work.

What I heard was from where I caught the Sports Talk podcast before it was taken off the site. It's updated everyday. It could be lurking somewhere on the interwebs for all I know though. He was talking to Jimmy Hyams I believe. I don't remember much of what he said, but Jimmy did ask him if he thought Dooley would ever coach again or be on broadcasting, lawyer, etc. Vince said he thought Derek needed to take some time off and rethink where he wants to go from here. Not once did he say that he doesn't think Derek will coach again and I don't think he would in any other interview, so anyone saying that is just reading too far into his comments.

Campus Insiders

Here is a video though with Campus Insiders and they talk about the firing at the beginning. He says basically the same things he said to Jimmy.

I agree with you though...He had a fan in me too. But I also realize that he was given all the chances he deserved. The only thing that kills me about his firing is that he went through the true trenches of the program and won't get to see them come out on top. But such is life I suppose. I think he'll bounce back somewhere though. We forget he's only been a head coach for six years. His life and career are far from over.

Thanks :hi: Good post :good!:

i think there's an ncaa rule that if a coach takes another ncaa job, his contract at the previous school is voided

If they're dumb enough to take Dooley, maybe they'd like to have Bozo Sunseri, too! Then we really would save some contract cash. While they're at it, maybe they could pick up Trooper Taylor, just released by Auburn. Wait, I've got some swamp land in a flood plain...
