Dooley headed to Arkansas State !!

My biggest concern is how much influence Dave Hart had in the Sunseri hire.

I think it was well known that Dooley wanted to hire Steele but the Clemson bowl game meltdown nixed that deal. More Dooley luck???

I will say it seems it was a mixture of mistakes on his part and quite a bit of bad luck.

Hope things turn out well for him and his family. If nothing else he left the program in better shape than his predecessor. More talent and no NCAA investigations.

I have the same concern, and obviously Dooley made some boneheaded mistakes all on his own during games. I do think he was not as bad a coach as the record showed. Alabama and Vandy were the only games that the offense didn't score enough to win. D let us down. Came within 1 play of beating Georgia just to see them miss the NC game by 1 play. With a better D it could have been a great season.

Hiring Sal is DD's equivalent to Phil hiring Clawsen. Both were career killers.

I wish him all the best. He tried hard and could not get it done. I was behind him all the way until the Missouri call at the end of the game. You have to play to win. Hope he has success. But he had to go.

Dooley will be another version of Bob Davie. Davie at least won some games though. I'm also confused as to why they wouldn't take Bob Petrino if there is actually any linkage here which I sincerely doubt.

Just because they're a smaller school, that doesn't mean they don't have standards. They've actually been winning some games the last couple of years, so even they might not be desperate enough to take a chance on Petrino.

He received a lot of praise as a position coach and recruiter under Saban...Maybe he tried to move on too quickly. I think Vince Dooley is right when he says DD needs to take time off and regroup. This job aged him at least ten years in only three. Taking another head coaching job would not be good for him and his family, and I don't think anyone wants him right now to be frank.

It obviously wasn't meant to be with UT...Some of the things I look back on and can only shake my head at the ridiculousness of sheer bad luck. It's unfair, especially since it had to come at the expense of the players too.

This has to be a mistake, Dooley won't be able to coach for some time because Vince put him over his knee and almost killed the poor smuck, would have if it hadn't been for Barb

His credentials are far from a guaranteed success story. He's as much a risk coming in as Dooley. He does not come in with a recruiting pedigree, especially in the South. Without a talent upgrade, he does not look to be any more suitable than Dooley, especially when you factor in the price. He also does not begin selling all of the seats to fans that Dooley turned off.

Is there really such a thing as a guaranteed success story? Dooley came in with a "recruiting pedigree" and look where that got him. The bottom line is, this guy won at both of his previous jobs, whereas Dooley failed miserably at both of his. I don't see the connection you all are making.

How good he is? He hired sal. Enough said.

People make these extreme statements all the time. Our O-line was horrible last year but one of the best in the country the year later. It takes players time to get experience and learn new systems. Maybe the same could have happened with Sal and his defense. I think Dooley as far as his own job security should have kept Wilcox if anyhow possible (in terms of winning in shorter term), but to automatically assume Sal sucks as a coach based on just one year is just dumb. Both Sal and Dooley will be again successful somewhere else (probably smaller school first) and eventually in a big program as well (would have happened here as well if given more time but fans in places like UT don't have the patience to see a 4-5 year transition through).

Hamilton is the real gift that keeps on giving.

That is very true, and really, Doug Dickey is also the gift that keeps on giving, or at least he used to. It is Dickey that recommended Hamilton for the job that he miserably failed at. It is Dickey who also gave UT Delmonico, Wade Houston, Jerry Green, and Buzz Peterson. But, no one is worse than Mike Hamilton.

That is perhaps the most ridiculous statement ever conceived concerning Dool and Sal. Don't hold your breath waiting on such, and don't bet the family farm on that happening either.

Good for him. Hart dumped Sal on him. Hart and BoogerC are the ones that should have been fired.
