Dooley Isn't going anywhere!

If Dooley isn't going anywhere, that means our beloved Vols are not going anywhere either....thats the sad part.
Dooley can't recruit well enough to compete with the upper level teams, not to mention coach. So goes Dooley, so go the Vols....

Lots of smoke, so there must be at least a little fire. Somethings up or else Hart or someone would have flattened all these rumors to help Dooley. The AD office is awfully quiet.......

He's gone and everyone knows it. Including Dooley himself.

Bingo. If Dooley was Hart's guy for the future, he would have came out to support him.

Silence tells the story at this point.

Today was supposed to be the day.

Big huge announcement about CDD resigning and CJG being the next coach.

Well, we see how that went.

CDD is our HC. Simply not going to change this year or next.

Lets support our Vols and get behind the program.. enough with wanting Dooley's head and what not.

GO VOLS... BEAT TROY!!!!

Not having an announcement yet doesn't prove anything.

I want the program to go in a different direction. I'm frankly tired of the terrible coaching. you are entitled to your opinion. I just hope Hart doesn't share your opinion.

Man, I liked Zook at Florida and he wasn't even that bad. I think he went 1-2 against us.

I'd love Dooley at Florida/Georgia/Bama.

Zook went 8-5 all 3 years, beat us the first year and had it not been for a ref not starting the clock, probably would have won the 2004 game.

Personally I think comparing to Dooley to Zook and Shula is selling both those guys really short.

Soo you are not for supporting the Vols right now?

That's your prerogative, as for me, I choose to support my Vols. I am not saying that a coaching change is not inevitable, but unless you are the AD, UT Pres, or big time boosters you have almost zero control (as do I).

I stand by my op, Dooley isn't going anywhere until Hart is standing in front of cameras making the announcement. Probably year after next.

Until then, I will still cheer for my Vols.

GO VOLS....BEAT TROY!!

The key to being a good leader is to surround yourself with great people. Dools hired five brand new staff members for the defensive side of the ball. I do not think that he had ever worked with any of the five before. For him to just turn it all over to them, and blindly trust that they will get the job accomplished.....seems a bit glib.

On the other hand, perhaps he has no contributions to add on that side of the ball?

I just can't believe he hasn't been fired yet! It will not get better with Dooley as coach! So what if we do win out? Will we get to hear him brag about we don't lose to Vanderbilt or Kentucky! I have nothing against Dooley I just I think he is in over his head. Let's cut our losses Hire the right coach for Tennessee ( aka JON GRUDEN) And start getting some good recruits and filling the seats at Neyland Stadium! And last but not least Actually winning some games against Georgia Alabama and Florida!!

I bet the AD never thought of that! :eek:hmy:

Not a troll, been here since '08. I just have a different perspective on the JG hire. He's pushing 50 and makes 4.3 mil/year working a pretty cushy job. Why would he leave that to take over a program that would probably take a few years to rebuild? Plus UT would have to pay Dooley and Gruden, and I'm guessing it would take more than 4.3 mill/year for Gruden alone. It just doesn't add up. I don't think it would be smart for UT to fire Dooley during the season. What message would that send for the next potential HC? IF UT fires Dooley, I think it'll look for a younger asst. who doesn't require as much $. JMHO. :hi:

I will tell you the message it would send. If you go 0-15 against ranked opponents, lose to ky, start every season 0-5 in SEC play three years straight, we will not tolerate that here in Knoxville! That's the message by the way consider this. Most, not all but most of the best players that we now have we're not recruited by Dooley!

Bingo! I actually think you are a little low on Gruden's pay when you add in the commercials he does for national companies(Corona and Hooters are 2 that come to mind). He could turn it around in a short time though provided he could recruit because Saban proved that at Bama. But again it comes back to money.
For the same reason, I also don't buy that Dooley is gone when we would owe him and his assistants 9 million in buyouts. Money matters and those that think boosters will make up the difference are living in a fantasy world. They didn't buy out Fulmer. Also if boosters went around just buying the best coaches etc... then Arkansas would have Belichick, Saban or their pick of any coach because I'm pretty sure they have the most affluent boosters(The Waltons) of any SEC school and it's not even close. The notion that boosters will easily throw 9 million to buy out Dooley and his assistant's and then make up the difference in salary per year that Dooley and a new coach like Gruden would require is fantasy land. Dooley will get another year unless he loses a couple more games. Follow the money!

What money? Dooley ends 6-6 or 5-7. Neyland empty = no money. Then stuck with Dooley. Your right.

Article on volquest titled chalk talk brought up some interesting points by Mr. Matthews. I am not a huge Dooley fan and really want him gone but parts of me think we need him for one more year for recruiting and stability. It's a double edged sword

Or a Tennessee fan, who wants their team to win......

Not going to happen with doolander in charge.

I like Dooley, I really wanted him to succeed. But it has become apparent that that isn't going to be the case.

Without a change at head coach, we are going to be competing with Vandy for second to last in the East every year, if we are lucky. Lets not forget the debacle that shall not be named.

If dooley wins out, no way that UT will fire him.

Why wouldnt they? He hasnt beaten anybody with any real relavance.. everybody who's beaten us is getting better and we are falling behind..you have to beat the big dogs in the SEC to get the recruits to wanna come to UT.. plain and simple... Fire Dooley!!!

And why would a top recruit wanna come play for a loser, when there are how many teams with winning records who have beaten somebody.

I will be so disappointed if Dooley isn't fired. He is basically the worst Tennessee coach of at least a few generations (maybe ever). I am sick of the excuses and that is all we ever hear out of Dooley. We will never be successful under his leadership and he needs to be gone immediately. All keeping him here for another year does is prolong the losing. I will not spend another dime on Tennessee athletics until this problem is solved.
