And that's the question I've never heard a legitmate answer to. It's all fine and dandy to say give him another year but if the predicted results are still 6-6 or 7-5 at best following year 4, what the heck are we waiting for? Bamboo shoots in 2014?

I think what most are afraid of is the coaching search, they think it will go a lot like it did in 2010.
That will never happen, we are in a much better place now. Yes, thanks to Dooley, but he has taken us as far as he can. This town-fanbase will not take another 7-5 6-6 season.

As soon as Bray's upside turns into Favre's upside, i.e. being one of the greatest to ever play the game, then that comparison will be valid. Using traits of arguably the greatest of all time to excuse the performance of an amateur is pretty much never a good idea.

That being said, Bray isn't even the point of what I was saying. My point is that Dooley has the talent NOW to have won every game this year sans the Bama game. He simply does not have the x's and o's coaching ability to elevate this program anymore than he already has. With nearly any other coach currently in the SEC, we have 1 loss on our record. We've been outcoached in every single game, bar NONE.

I wasn't making a prediction on Dooley being the best head coach in football it was a statement of how I see him. Some may see Gruden as a great coach but he just had a 50/50 win percentage. A comparison can be made between Favre and Best because everyone is expecting him to be that way. Yes Favre is a professional but you have to rememberBray isn't this is his first full year at qb. But besides all that the question still remains will Dooley be coach next year. Only Hart knows. I believe Dooley will suprise people given the chance to build a program his way not just two and a half years and then most coaches who are fired are let go after a bad coordinator hire, I.e. Fulmer-Clausen and Tuberville with his at Auburn.

Ut may be too broke to fire dooley, pay him $5 million while they are still paying big money to a bunch of other fired coaches, summit, etc. UT will keep him around for another year or two.

I just can't believe he hasn't been fired yet! It will not get better with Dooley as coach! So what if we do win out? Will we get to hear him brag about we don't lose to Vanderbilt or Kentucky! I have nothing against Dooley I just I think he is in over his head. Let's cut our losses Hire the right coach for Tennessee ( aka JON GRUDEN) And start getting some good recruits and filling the seats at Neyland Stadium! And last but not least Actually winning some games against Georgia Alabama and Florida!!

Hooray for struggling to beat UK and Vandy every year!!! And hoping we beat enough cupcakes to go to the Music City Bowl EVERY YEAR!!!!! Afterall, YOU CAN'T SPELL MUSIC CITY BOWL WITHOUT U T.

Meanwhile, UK will hire Fulmer and Zook, and Auburn will grab Petrino. We will fall further and further behind, in the conference pecking order.

I know, why don't we just LEAVE THE SEC???!!! Then we can play a schedule full of cupcakes, and get into the BCS, thru the back door. :)

Too much apathy next from the fanbase and their attendance to not make a change...it's just a matter of time whether you like it or not. I think Dooley knows it too.

This is a "dead man walking" scenario if I've ever seen it.

Great PR guy, looks good, says the right things, etc.

But the bottom line is his players don't like him. He hasn't earned the "******* who knows" badge that Saban owns, and he rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

Plus, let's look at his record.

There's no need to wear him out in public and lambaste him because he has stabilized the program and stopped the bleeding.

It's a good thing that Kiffin and his band of NCAA renegades are gone! I didn't have a problem with the Kiffin hire, but when Orgeron was hired, then I was worried that UAT type sanctions would ensue!

Let's wish the man Godspeed and move on!

I have read a lot of press about his players wanting to "play for no one else but Dooley."

Where are you getting your information??

No word from the AD..

No evidence from the AD that he is on the way out..

All we have a mad bunch of vocal users on Volnation and several members of the press trying to start a fire under Dooley's seat.

I know we need wins.. I understand that...

But I am too old to think that we should have instant results against established top 15 teams. Sorry, we are not the same caliber of team we were 15 years ago. However, we are getting there.

Like I said before, we scared the pee out of four of the top teams in the nation. NOT a moral victory, but it does show how close we actually are to "getting over the hump."

Flame suite back on...

We crapped the bed against a far less talented Mississippi State team. After having a week off to prepare. I don't expect to beat Alabama already, but I do expect to at least show up ready to play against a team like that.

I thought UT should have fired Majors sooner than when it happened. I thought UT should have fired Fulmer sooner than it did. Even though I felt this way, I never pulled my support from MY team no matter what. If thousands quit going to games only because Dooley is the coach then I can't understand it for a true Volunteer fan. If Dooley is the head coach then I'll support the Volunteers just as always and if someone else is the HC then I will support them as well. I may get on a blog and #itch and complain, but I'll always support my VOLUNTEERS!!!!

If Dooley isn't going anywhere, that means our beloved Vols are not going anywhere either....thats the sad part.
Dooley can't recruit well enough to compete with the upper level teams, not to mention coach. So goes Dooley, so go the Vols....
