Dooley Isn't going anywhere!

Today was supposed to be the day.

Big huge announcement about CDD resigning and CJG being the next coach.

Well, we see how that went.

CDD is our HC. Simply not going to change this year or next.

Lets support our Vols and get behind the program.. enough with wanting Dooley's head and what not.

GO VOLS... BEAT TROY!!!!

I can comfortably say that Dooley not being here next year is far more important to me, and to the program, than the Troy game.

This is the deal. At this point, Dooley's fate is a self-fulfilling prophesy. What 5 star recruits are going to commit to a university/coach with this much turmoil? Dooley is a lame duck. Doesn't matter if his scheme's and coaching were as as good as Nick Saban. Tennessee can't win with him anymore because of perception.

PS...how do you guys think a new coach would affect the decisions of our juniors to come back next year?

How do you think a fan base that supports it team/coaches and doesn't bash them daily on these boards would effect recruiting....

I have a friend who's a Gator. Her dad played for the Gators, the whole family are insane about it, really. They all really like Derek Dooley. Every week I get texts from her about what a shame it is and how she was rooting for us and we wouldn't actually fire Dooley yet, would we?
During the South Carolina game, I looked at the game thread on the SEC rant. Fans of every team except South Carolina were cheering Tennessee on.

It's not like we weren't ranked because our players aren't good enough. This team has more starting talent than all but 10-15 teams in the country. The fact that we weren't ranked is itself an indictment of Dooley. Dooley's lack of ability to develop players is why we weren't/aren't ranked. I've supported him from day 1 until the past several weeks. He's a great man, but a mediocre-at-best football coach, and is most certainly not the man to restore this program back to the glory it deserves.

i agree that great coached make good players great and our offense has improved. yes bray makes bonehead plays but so did favre and him in the nfl, that is the risk you take with those type of qbs, zrogers has better hands, hunter is just hunter, our running game is much improved. that is developing. our defense scheme changed yes i agree that sal may have been a bad hire but you allow your coach to fix it in the offseason. i even think that dooley may not turn into the general neyland or fulmer but to get the eye of a great coach that everyone wants you have to have a stable and good looking product to sell and dooley can get you to that point.

Based on what exactly?

You were obviously in a coma for the better part of the last three years, so let me fill you in on this. Dooley came in after Kiffin, and things went downhill. We haven't beaten Florida, Georgia, South Carolina or Alabama since he stepped foot on campus. We lost games to the likes of Mississippi St. and Kentucky in the same time period. He has managed a 4-17 record in the SEC since he became coach, and those 4 wins were against Ole Miss, Kentucky, and then Vandy twice. Basically, he sucks and since Mike Hamilton is gone, a lot of the quicker people around here have come to the very logical conclusion that there is no way he actually sticks around for another year.

If dooley wins 8, he'll get another extension.

So, when they drop another game to one of the murderer's row left on the schedule, are you going to tell everyone about how if he wins 7 he gets an extension? I mean, the parameters keep changing. First, he had to win 9, then it was 8 not counting the bowl, now it's 7 with a bowl victory to push it to 8. Which is it folks?

It changes every week. Even in the media.

"He'll probably need to win 8 and a bowl."

"He'll probably need to win 7 and a bowl."

"He'll probably need to make a bowl game."

I wasn't bashing anyone. Just saying it is what it is. And right now UT's football program has been labeled 2nd tier (BTW, right now it really is second tier). I don't know if you've noticed but we're in the cellar with Kentucky and Auburn. Vandy's even ranked higher in '13 recruiting than TN. Fruit of the Loom couldn't create enough support to fix what is wrong with TN football...

P.S. I don't remember anybody bashing anyone until they emploded against Florida. Its important to remember which came first, the chicken or the egg...suckage or criticism

It unfortunate that none of his 6 or 7 wins this year will be against a quality opponent. NC ST, Troy, Akron, Vandy, KY, Missouri, GA St.

Even Kiffen beat GA in his first year. Not sure how he survives after the year is over.

I don't know if Dooley will return next year or not but the silence from Dave Hart is deafening. If we finish this season and Hart still remains silent about Dooley's status we might as well write off this recruiting class. It's already fairly mediocre by SEC standards. :(

Glad someone else noticed the success criteria creep to the bottom going on around here.

Recruiting is all ready suffering. We are ranked 23 in scout and 21 in Rivals.

Dooley will return next season. If Bray, Hunter & Patterson return & the other players improve on defense and offense, we will have a 7 - 5 record for the regular season.

BEAT: Austin Peay, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky & Vandy, & Missouri.

LOSSES: Oregon, Florida, UGA, USC, "O Bama"

If Bray, Hunter & Patterson don't return: 6 - 6 record

BEAT: Austin Peay, Western Kentucky, South Alabama, Auburn, Vandy & Kentucky.

LOSSES: Orgeon, Florida, UGA, USC, "O Bama" and Missouri.

Either scenerio, I see Dooley losing his job after next season. He can't go 6 -6, 7 - 5, every year and keep his job.....

If that is indeed the case, why not fire him now?
