Dooley says he is not being fired...

I believe that is what Pat said in her affidavit, but Hart denies it. If it is true... it would be evident that Hart speaks from both sides of mouth.

If you would tell a Legend, Pat Summit your out the door in midseason, why wouldn't you tell Dooley? Makes you think that as obvious as it is Hart hasn't made a decision. Now thats scary!:loco:

Dooley knows. Don't be fooled - things are very organized right now with Hart and a new coach.

This could be a smoke screen for the coaching search too. I mean if you fire a coach the talk goes to the who's the next coach by everybody. If you leave Dooley hanging the talk is centered around him and not the coaching search. Not saying that its right but it could be a potential reason.

I wont say he is lying, but as an attorney he has had a lot of education in how to frame the truth in such a way to never be caught in a corner.

Don't get stressed - he's out and we all know it. The timing doesn't matter anymore. Very methodical.

So is there any scenario that keeps Dooley as our coach?

Why is this scary? Other than maybe the fact that a lot of us have known that Hart would wait until the end of the season and it's scary that there are so many level headed posters on VN?

the reason that hart is waiting til after the season is that he's already discussed the vacancy with a candidate of his chosing, regardless whether or not that is really what ut needs right now. kirby smart is hart's boy and that's who hart wants. by the time dooley is fired, a coaching seach is completed, and all the experienced head coaches are commited to the ark's,ua's , ky's, or what other vacancies are out there all that's going to be left is a unproven dc named smart. Hart's buddy

Saw on WRCB TV sports last night that sources indicate that Dooley is gone. However, the University will neither confirm nor deny that such is the case. I just don't believe the public media could legally put something like that out there if they couldn't factually back it up. My guess is that the University will try to hold off announcing until after the Ky game. But, I do believe the details of his departure either are being laid out or already have been laid out. So, just sit tight. I am confident that somebody will spill the beans before it is time to spill the beans!

good info. I sure hope Smart isn't our next coach. I for one have had enough Bammer assistant coaching taking positions on our coaching staff.

Hart might not have made a decision, but we the fans have and we're the ones that keep the University afloat by buying tickets and such to the games.

Put yourself in Dave Hart shoe's...

As long as Derek is coach, Dave has a free pass. When Derek screws up, Dave can just shake his head and say "That was a Hammy hire".

So by keeping Derek in place for as long as possible, it basically extends the time that Hart is on our payroll. Once he picks his own coach, then the clock starts running. Right now, he is playing with house money.

Make sense?

No, it doesn't. Regardless of who made the hire, whether Dooley stays or goes becomes Hart's responsibility now. No way could he retain Dooley, and Dooley keep losing, and the fans say "Well, that's ok. Hammy hired him."

I believe that Hart hasn't made a decision. A lot of donors believe that Hart won't fire Dooley unless absolutely forced to. He's cheap, he's afraid of a bidding war and he doesn't want to get his hands dirty. He thinks he can save some bucks and hold off fans for another year and maybe Dooley can get it together and win enough to pacify fans until his buyout dwindles.

Donors forced a discussion about firing Dooley after UK last year, but Hart was convinced that the outrage would subside, fans would lick their wounds, then suck it up and come back for another year. And that's how it played out. Sounds like he's willing to make the same bet again, if Dooley can escape Vandy and get to a bowl.

I would suspect that there might be negotiations to allow Dooley to "resign" and avoid the FIRED stamp on his resume.

Dude, he's the head coach of an SEC football team, not the assistant night manager of the Taco Bell in Maynardville. Whether his resume says "fired," "resigned," or "abducted by aliens," every prospective employer knows the deal.

With that in mind, Hart has extremely limited leverage in negotiating away the buyout. We're talking "$3.5M in a lump sum instead of $5M over five years" limited. There's just no reason for Dooley to resign or reduce the $5M payout.

per Wes Rucker....Fulmer v2!!

That's why you can't trust blogs....anyone can start anything!!

Over 90% of the crap seen on this board is just flat out lies. Take what you read with a grain of salt. Seems as if the newer posters have more crap than some of the older posters. I wonder what that means??

He didn't say that in his presser. He said that Hart told him he hasn't made a decision yet. That's not the same as saying he isn't being fired.
