Dooley sucks (merged)

Like to beat dead horses do you?

He's gone now, so who cares anymore?

That's the whole point.

HE SHOULDN'T BE GONE.

He is a Tennessee Legend, and he should be remembered as such. It might not be the most pleasant way to be remembered, but there you go. He got $11M out of the deal, and some high quality OJT. "Letting it go" is disrespectful to his time here.

Dude. I totally laughed.

I can absolutely see our fans saying something like, "That's a Dooley right there." in the future .

"He Dooley'd that up!"

Failed fake punt. "Dooley in da HOOOOOUUUUUUUSE!!!!"

If anyone speaks that name inside Neyland again, they should be punched in the throat

I wish I could Like this 100 times.

That is exactly what I'm talking about.

Dooley has to (and he can) live with this failure. It came at our expense. We get to reap something out of it.

Merge if necessary, Mods, but there is no getting around it: Derek Dooley is a Tennessee Legend.

It's for all the wrong reasons, but the man got his big time coaching experience OJT on our dime to the tune of $11M USD. He compared us to the Nazi army; he said the team couldn't wash without him; he said the players never executed what he had in his head.

Some want to "move on", but get real. He is part of Tennessee's folklore now.

For the next generation, whenever the Vols screw-up (and they will), people should and will say, "Did Dooley call that?... Did someone let Dooley back in Neyland??"

He is the worst coach in our history. We let Mike "Hambone" Hamilton fire Phil Fulmer before the end of the season (and I say again, Phil would have been 7 - 6 at the end of 2008, with quality continuity for Crompdaddy without Hambone), and choose the successor to our HoF coach who brought us the Decade of Dominance, and who had rekindled his fire in 2008 as his Top 5 recruiting class demonstrated, complete with a better college QB than Tyler Bray, which is saying a lot.

Dooley's a big boy. And Vol fans have the right to slam and rag on him until folks from Memphis to Bristol forget how KY beat us with a WR at QB or how Vandy absolutely humiliated us.

He also served as a stopgap when no one else would touch us. Well paid yes, disappointing yes, but did the job as best that he could when our options were gone.

How dare you recognize dooley's failures as a head coach. you have NO class! Now that he's gone we have to pretend that it didn't happen. what a good man he was...a fine, handsome, shining gentleman. Forget that I, in turn, am personally attacking you...you are classless

I can guarantee you one thing.....

Saban, Richt, Spurrier, Miles among others sure hope you're right. They'd like nothing more for UT to do than to hire Fulmer back.

I can guarantee you another....

There are a lot of lower-tier D1 schools and probably a few D2 schools whose AD's would be happy to not continually hear from Fulmer every time a decent coaching job opens up. Lets see, he threw his hat into the ring at Kansas, Louisville, Kentucky,...did I miss any? None allowed him past the first cut.

I wish people would stop talking about Fulmer coming back... There is a big obvious reason Fulmer continues to be unemployed in college football. It's not
Like he is turning down offers left and right waiting for UT to come crawling back. On a Dooley note-- people will now use the "Dooleyism" like we all say Dooley was our Shula... Now people wil look at their failing coaches and say they were like our Dooley

:eek:lol:

Are you kidding? Right now we have a Fulmer thread that will not go away. Dooley will be referred to for years when times get tough. I can only imagine what this site would have been like back when Johnny got canned if the internet had been up.

Didn't really throw his hat. If anything, they threw the feelers toward him.

With the exception of Saban, the rest would piss themselves with a returned Fulmer, hungry and rested.

To a man they would say, "Damn, got to work harder again. Can't let Tennessee get the upper hand again."

It's all moot. Gruden is inbound. He's going to make Saban spastic. I wish someone would photoshop Saban on LSUfreak's classic of the spastic kid (with Dooley's face) on a harness in the playground when Gruden is announced.

You are a sad person

I know right? I mean he has no class. The fact that he would even want to acknowledge and/or discuss the fact that dooley's tenure here saw the worst stretch of football in any of our lifetimes, or the ky/vanderbilt embarrassments, or the fact that we may face the first 8-loss season in school history. Dooley was a good man...it literally sends chills up my leg to think of how good of a man he was. At least there are actually people like us that "get" it and can put someone like the op in their place with baseless insults.

He is surely the apple of Barbara's eye. :p

Please stop acting like a total moron. The guy was fired. He's been embarrassed. His career has been destroyed. If you had any empathy at all, you'd probably know that he's emotionally hurting.

How much more flesh do you need from a good guy who just couldn't get it done?

Dooley at least has some class left.... the same can't be said for you.
