Dooley Wants Safeties at 215#+

The tops ones are right around that range.

Adrian Wilson- 226
Meriweather- 200
Rolle- 208
Harper- 200
Collins- 207
Bethea- 205
Polamalu- 206

Some coaches prefer bigger, more physical safeties.

BTW, Eric Berry weighs 211.

Every single one of those guys except for Wilson is under 215. Berry was well under 215 in college, and I guarantee you all of those guys save maybe Wilson were as well.

Don't understand this statement by Dooley. Not gonna find many safeties at 215 and can still play with the speed and agility we need.

Wow they are about 5-10 lbs. from 215. Dooley is right when he said that Janzen and Waggner are far better suited for CB. We have some really small safeties. What is your point? Oh wait, Dooley said something so you have to disagree because you are full of football knowledge.

Rod Wilks' shadow weighs 245. Let Rod play DT and his shadow play safety.

The OP said that CDD said that our safeties need to be at least 215, not around 215. If that is really what he said, that is absolutely ridiculous.

I seriously doubt he meant 215 as an exact number. His point was that we need bigger safeties. Jackson and Waggner are not big enough and both are better at CB. Safeties need to be around 200 for the most part unless you have one of those rare freaks that plays like a LB when he is a CB.

I agree that they are better suited for CB. It has less to do with size than their skill set.

And his point is wrong. There are plenty of college safeties who get by just fine at well under 215. He wants to worry about bringing down the ball carrier, then he needs to find somebody that can teach them how to tackle.

The point Dooley was making was that we need bigger safeties. My gosh, you take every word a coach says literally. Coaches usually speak in ball park figures and most exaggerate. If a guy is 205 playing safety, that is still 20 LBs bigger then Janzen. That is Dooley's point. Sorry you missed it.

Oh bull, he said something stupid, deal with it. Waggner could weight 230 and run a 4.4 and if the dude can't tackle he can't tackle.

He also said that he is going to close his eyes when Janzen is going to catch a ball. OH HOW BIG OF AN IDIOT HE IS. We are taking him literally. If you can't realize Dooley's point of needing bigger safeties, then who is stupid? Here's a hint, it's not Dooley.

This coming from the guy who is apparently about as good at math as Dooley. I think I can deal with that.

tvols has no idea what he is talking about, as per usual.

Yes, I know because we all know that you know what you're talking about. The only thing that is usual is you bashing everything Dooley says. Get a life.

I'm not mad at him. Hell, I feel sorry for him.

Haha you feel sorry for me because I got the point he was making? According to you, Dooley would tell someone that is 207 that they're not big enough for safety. If you really think he means exactly 215, then I feel sorry for you. We have two guys that are not even close to 200 playing safety. Both guys are not consistent tacklers. Dooley's point... we need bigger safeties because they are more suited for CB.

Is that too hard to understand?

Dooley is trying to build his roster like Bama's. Both their safeties are around 210.

Though, if taken literally, Saban's safeties aren't good enough for Dooley.

Apparently it is, because you missed it completely. Would you like me to now list all the badass safeties that were 200 lbs or less in college?

Exactly. He's not the sharpest tool in the box. Kinda makes you feel sorry for someone whose life is so miserable that they have to find statements to the media and take them to bash someone they don't like.
