Doremats

Want the here and now? Since 1982 they have beaten us THREE times and while I wasn't alive in 1982, I remember both the 2005 game and the 2012 game where we had HORRIBLE teams.

One game a trend does not make and until they are beating us habitually(haha joke) they will always be an afterthought.

Living in the past again.

Never said there was a "trend". I just said they have bragging rights.

I do give a damn what happened five years ago or twenty years ago. All I care is that the last time they played us, they kicked our ass. You can spin it however you like to make yourself feel better but that's a fact, Jack.

Sorry. But if you've been beaten by a team 27 times in 30 years... one one doesn't give you any kind of "bragging rights".

You also said they have a better program than we do. You either don't know the English language, or you forgot what you posted.

You should make more distinction between the terms "program", "team" and "game".

Edit: I thought I'd help clarify.

There is no comparison between our programs.

The team that beat UT last year is no longer at Vandy, nor is the team that lost to Vandy last year.

A game is a contest in which, due to varying reasons, an inferior team could beat a superior team.

They were the superior team (41-18). If one has a clearly superior team, then one is a superior program at that point in time. Period.

The new season hasn't started yet so they get to retain that status and bragging rights until it does. Having more fans, a bigger stadium, history, better faculties, doesn't mean sh*t when you are getting your ass kicked by a superior team.

Past vs present. You live in the past. I don't.

Last time I checked, we got plummled 41-18.

Lol at a person that defines the level of two athletic programs based on the results of one game.

You're a funny guy. (I hope it was a joke.)

You're a highly emotional person aren't you? At the expense of logic, I mean-- just to be clear.

You are defining them in a historic sense. I have made no such argument. UT is clearly superior to Vandy in that regard.

I only care about the present time. The present state of a program is defined by the latest on field results. It is that simple.

No. I'm defining the state of programs as much more than the result of one game.

By your definition, TAM is a better program than Bama.

It's idiotic reasoning.

You finally said something worthy of any common sense. Yes, UT is clearly superior to Vandy ...... Damn, that sure was hard for you to say. You sure have been very eager to argue on vandys behalf. Wonder what that's about?

But, I still say you're living in the past as the last time we played those West End Pansies, was last year. And as you know last year was in the past.

I will concede that pansybilt, which is historically by far the most pathetic excuse for a football team in SEC history, were superior to my team, the Univ of Tennessee, for one half of football on one day, last year.

The biggest problem a lot of us have had with your "argument" is your continual saying, based on that one lousy game, that Vandy has a better PROGRAM than UT. Its absurd to even remotely say, yet youve continued to stand by it.

Finally, after getting called out by several posters you finally moved the goalposts and changed to saying they have a better team. Which, by the way, you're still wrong. They, as it stands today, don't have the same team and neither do we, so we're not gonna know anything til they play again in November and, as you guys like to say "prove it on the field".

I also did not say a win in and of itself makes one program inherently better than another. Close games are a different matter.

However, when you get embarrassed, it is pretty telling about the state of each program.

That was weak. Your irrational hatred of them is clouding your judgement. It's kinda funny actually. You like to talk about the irrelevant past beforehand and quickly dismiss a beat down.

My posts have been quite consistent. I have stated I don't give a damn about the distant past. I care about the present; last season is still the present because it is the most recent football season. When I talk about program, I am only talking present tense and with respect to the ability of the team. Everything else (fans, stadium, facilities, history, etc) doesn't mean a damn thing when you're getting your ass kicked 41-18. All those intangibles factor into program potential which is defined many times as "best available job". They in no way are direct reflections of the current state of the program with reguard to the product on the field.

As for "eager to argue for Vandy", I nothing Vandy. I don't love, hate, like, or dislike them. I honestly never think about them if we aren't playing them. However, I am fair. I am not going to mindlessly belittle them because I am a UT alumnus. I give credit where credit is due and criticize where critizism is warranted (UT).

Since you're creeping further and further into subjective definitions, that seem to be "further refined" in an effort to minimize the idiotic logic once it's pointed out, I think it best we just part ways in this conversation.

They are neither subjective or illogical.

You assumed things in hopes of a gotcha moment, failed, and now want to save face.
