Ah, didn't know that. I always thought of him as a NASCAR guy.

He is but he follows college football and he knows influential people around Knoxville. Punch is a good guy as well. Had the opportunity to meet him once on pit road at Talladega.

from wikipedia

Dr. Jerry Punch (born August 20, 1953) is an American auto racing and college football commentator on ESPN, as well as a physician. Punch also does local radio spots in Knoxville.

Post the rest if you're going to post part of it. Would you go to Punch for a serious medical condition right now. His football connections are similar to his medical connections. A "small" part of history.

Is Jimmy Johnson, Jimmie's twin brother that has failed in auto racing? :)

Seriously though I didn't know Dr. Punch was a football guy in the day, I was thinking why would a NASCAR guy be speculating on our search :whistling:

Pedantic, IMO

louisville plays this thursday night - could know something friday.

betting we know this time next week...

I would welcome Charlie Strong...not sure it's going to happen though...CCS has a TON of talent (to be read as heisman candidate at QB) returning on an already good team...hopefully that game against UConn this past weekend was just a "fluke" and he / the team was looking past them to meeting Rutgers again and a Big East Title / BCS Bowl berth.

And you know this how?

Unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember watching Punch when he got his start in the media. He's always had a passion for racing (not just Nascar), and Nascar was the circuit which was marketed the best.

The key is used to be before ABC and ESPN had a shared interest. Punch is not a football insider at all and never was. If he reports Jimmy Johnson is leaving Hendrick, then you should listen.

Good god what a doink you are, you have trolled this entire thread knocking down dr jerry punch. We get it you don't think much of his opinion however a great number of people do. He is a very well respected sports journalist whose career has veered towards auto racing specifically nascar, however he is wired into southern college sports and is a rabid fan of sec football, and if you think he's some hayseed from the track you're a complete moron.
quit hating
cosgrove

btw
you come across like titan's bill of basilio fame

I know for a fact that Dr. Jerry Punch believes its Jimbo Fisher.

I have family at Clemson and through the university they have become friends with Punch.

I was told it had something to do with a sick child of Fisher's.

I am not trying to start another rumor party, but seeing Punch's name on the front page forced my hand.

Do with the information what you will.
