Some parallels:
Experienced PG who's not as athletically gifted and losing more PT to a younger, more dynamic guard named Smith.
Lack of frontcourt depth, but one decent post defender (Thomas, Chism) and one big, seldom-used body off the bench (Zoubek, BWilliams).
Multiple outside shooting threats triggered mostly by quick, cross-court passes.
Guy who will shoot from 35-feet, and sometimes even bury it (Lofton, King).
Solid, well-rounded inside-out presence (TSmith and Singler).
Coaches who both get a whole lot of airtime (different varieties, albeit, but they're both still out there a lot).
Zbk, will be back in the game eventually. Duke needs it too, they need the inside presense of a big guy.
does tough mean not easy?
Maryland, without the victory over UNC, wouldn't even be discussed in college hoops this season. KY has made massive improvement since they've gotten players back. I just don't think the comparison holds and if you believe the last few games against MD matter this season, I'd prefer that the discussion end here.
Well of course MD wouldn't be talked about without that, they are now in the bottom of the ACC, but my point is, is that Duke and MD is the next biggest rivalry behind UNC(for Duke), and that game will never be easy regardless of MD being 1-11, 11-1, 6-6, etc. Duke typically struggles against them, just as Tenn struggles at KY.
