so now your quote means something totally different? good way to work it.
either way, you're foolish to believe the cameron crazies don't have an impact, or that TBA even comes close.
Uhm... Not my quote means exactly what it meant before. The Cameron Indoor Stadium homecourt advantage for DU has more to do with officiating and the type of teams Duke has put out in the past than it does the Cameron Crazies.
And the numbers prove it.
dickens, you are an idiot.
ask any sports analyst, not just basketball, to name their top 5 most famed stadiums/arenas/etc and their top 5 picks for toughest places to play, and Cameron Indoor will appear in, i'm guessing, 85% of those lists. and that's on the low side. this is because of the Cameron Crazies. they provide such a homecourt advantage, that it's not even funny.
Duke has lost more games, not just home, in the past years because of the drop-off in talent.
here is the team from the 01 championship team: battier, boozer, duhon, dunleavy, horvath, nate james, reggie love, casey sanders, jay williams.
^that is a team stacked at every position
here is the team now (though we are looking to be better than the past couple of years): singler, thomas, paulus, nelson, smith, king, henderson, mcclure, scheyer, zoubek.
^that team is a guard heavy team w/ virtually no inside man.
the talent of the teams has dropped off significantly. probably because recruiting has been harder since roy went to unc. just a guess there. but the talent has dropped off bad.
Duke has won many many games over the past 20 years, and most importantly to this argument the past 3 years thanks to it's homecourt advantage. There are several games Duke would have lost over the past few years had it not been for the Crazies. You're argument is completely void of any substance that states otherwise.
Which would indicate their power at home in the past has been due to TALENT not the Cameron Crazies! How do you not understand that. It's SIMPLE logic.
You mean.... Their home court advantage goes up as their talent level goes up?
That's EXACTLY my argument.
Thank you for continuing to agree with me.
geez. Do you even have a brain dickens? You're making TnFan07 look like a Harvard Law student.
Talent and home court advantage are two COMPLETELY different factors. they don't coincide with one another. Take away the crazies and the Dukies lose 2 more games a year the past few years because of their significant dip in talent.
dickens, i'll try to provide an answer for you, hopefully you are smart enough to understand.
did you watch the duke-maryland game the other day? duke, #3 team (and deservedly so) in the nation, barely escaped a win against maryland, a teams that sucks. wanna know why? because of the maryland fans. now, maryland's fans create an environment similar to what the cameron crazies do. now, would you agree with me that the talent at maryland has dropped of significantly since their championship year? so how were they able to stay so close to duke, despite being the inferior team talent-wise? the fans. that's what. they are so hostile that it rattles the opposing players. this parallels the cameron crazies, only the crazies are better at it.
Chanting "Orphan!" at a kid who's dad murdered the mother, then turned the gun on himself...
classless.
Kentucky, Maryland, UCONN, 'Cuse, UNC and VT are all schools that I immediately can remember that have said remarks just as bad. Not to mention that names that JJ Redick was called while he played college ball no matter where Duke travelled to. The classless student section is part of the game.
UT students creating a cheer with cursing it during the Bama game two years ago is classless as well.
Wait so you are saying the Crazies are just like any other student section out there? So you agree that they are overrated.... gotcha.
